i felt the same way altho i was a lil less shy
just a tip dont give her the ring and neckless, i learnt that the hard way, for a birthday present, we ended up fighting for about 3 months afterwards
and the popularity thing shouldn't matter if she likes you she's say yes, if she's a stuck up b**** who is out for populairty u don't need her. my suggestions, just try and be friends with her and find out what her personality is really like and then choice weather to go any further

I have given several girls jewelry and none of them fought with me about it. I was asking because he shouldn't give her the necklace and ring then ask her out. That might make her feel like she has to say yes, and then she may get mad. I'd say I would just ask her out and then maybe give them to her.
