As of Today, 12-06-10, the New Vizzed Board is 6 years old! Of course, that's the age of this current Vizzed Board, if you count all previous incarnations of vizzed, than it's around 8+ years old.




AWARD CEREMONY

First I'd like to start out by giving out my awards (which I've been doing for years now). My awards differ from last year only because some of my last year's awards were in the member voting awards. Most of these awards are based on facts & statistics rather than opinion.

Generous member of the year: 10Kegs
Over the past 6 months, he's donated more than anyone, a total of US $200 which helped out greatly. 2nd would go to Chronabis ($150), and 3rd would go to geeogree ($100).

Most active member of the year: geeogree
He's made around 9,105 posts over the past year, which is the majority of his total post count! At this rate, he'll pass me within a few months. 2nd would go to septembern (6424) and 3rd would go to me, Davideo7 (5480).

Board Developer of the year: JigSaw
He hasn't done anything in nearly a year until recently. He's got some pretty awesome features lined up for this month and next.

Most memorable member of the year: ~sakura~
A young girl who was a member of this site left vizzed after revealing she had leukemia. In honor of her we had a day dedicated to her where we all came together and posted as much as we could, we hit 1556 posts on that day and it's a record that may stand for a very long time. (her going away thread can be found here).

Wealthiest member of the year: DarkHyren
He has 513,953 Viz! 2nd would go to geeogree (403,947), and 3rd would go to Cyro Xero (265,688).

Biggest board contributor of the year: hypermonkey
He has put so much time into his RGR Staff position. He's added graphics to so many games and he's been doing it actively for nearly a year; he's outlasted so many RGR Staff members. 2nd would go to DarkHyren for helping out so many members all the time and 3rd would go to Totts for writing up so many awesome and very thorough reviews for many of the RGR games.

Great respect award: Cyro Xero, John and DNG
This award goes out to the 3 (known) members who are in the military. I have great respect for those who serve and I think these 3 really deserve some appreciation for what they do. If I'm missing anyone, please let me know and I will add them to the list but to qualify you need to be either really active or have 1000+ posts.


And now for the Member of the Year award....














Member of the Year: hypermonkey
The work he has done for the Retro Game Room is equivalent to many members. He's probably done more work than all of the RGR Staff members combined (which includes all past rgr staff members). He's been adding graphics weekly for 8+ months. Since he's been RGR staff, there's been about 25+ RGR staff members who have come and gone, he has by far lasted the longest of any RGR Staff. We all owe a great thanks to him for his serious hard work and dedication to helping out with the Retro Game Room. In my opinion, his importance to vizzed is equivalent to any of the forum staff members. This is the first time a non forum staff member has been awarded this and it will probably be the last time.

This is the most participation we've ever recieved on the Vizzed Awards, it was great to see so many people participate (although it kinda sucked tallying up all the votes lol). You can see all of the votes organized here and you can find the voting thread here.

This has by far been the best year in vizzed history. So many new members, so many posts per a day and so many new features. At the rate things are going, we should have a total of 500,000 posts on vizzed board by next anniversary, which has been a goal of mine for a long time (we're at 288,315 right now). I've also got some awesome and innovative features lined up for 2011 which will be even bigger than the Retro Game Room! I'm not ready to reveal details on these features yet but you can expect to see me put in another 2500+ hours into the site in 2011 like I did this 2010 year.

Anyways, Happy 6 Year Anniversary, I hope to see you all here next year

I really like the results. Everyone who won really deserved it too. I'm just glad to have gotten a few myself (not enough to be ranked here but still) so I really can't complain either. I thought geeogree would get more though lol.

A bit upset, disappointed that I didn't win anything, but I am so proud of hypermonkey, I knew he will get a reward for working really really hard, I wish I could do that, but sadly my Mother as other ideas (GO TO BED NOW 11111!!!!).

I am also happy that the quote I voted for won .

Davideo7 : Make a "most improved" member reward , I am sure to win that as I become from a really spammy noob to RGR staff (at time of writing), so next year can we do what we did last year ? Make up the rewards ?
