I was wondering how someone gets Trust points that lead to being a Trusted Member. I found this thread earlier today, but it doesn't answer my question:

I read and understand everything he said, but I was wondering about something else. It basically says that respect, grammar, etc. leads to receiving Trust points. My question is, Where exactly do the Trust points come from? Do other Trusted users give them out or is it something generated by the system by scanning individual posts?

If this is restricted information, then I completely understand. If someone could please let me know either way, that would be great.

It's a given that I'm not a trusted member, however I do believe you gain trust points by other trusted members. So say, the other trusted chaps "recuit" you into being a trusted member. At least I think that's what the deal is.

^ is right. You get trusted points by anyone who is trusted or higher, I'm pretty sure.

Being a trusted user, I can confirm what RZL said. Basically, just become friends with other trusted members and they will give you points. Also, don't post crappy (and you don't, don't worry) because it gets some people mad and then you are quickly in the negatives. It has been recognized by many as a broken system, and hopefully David will revise it soon. Until then, be active, post good, and make friends.

I see why you say this is a broken system. It seems more like a spoils system (be friends with people in high places to get what you want) than a group of people who earned their heightened power in the Vizzed network.

Still, it's good to know. I'll try to reach it without tricking and/or using other members.

The system is wicked broken and should be fixed soon. I mean, I still think I myself will be trusted, however, there are some cases where TP are abused in order to make a user trusted before their time. Some even became trusted making only one post, and I think that is just ridiculous.

Basically, just have common sense and don't try to irritate people. That's a guide I followed. I was just me, and people apparently "trust" me. So I really cant say what to do other than be yourself... unless you is a spammer or pron poster. Then you will never be trusted like that.

Like in my other thread, I'm tagging you because you're generally helpful and knowledgeable. I wouldn't bother tagging David in this because he's said in multiple threads that he's busy with a lot of stuff. I might contact him when an announcement goes out that says something like, "The dust has settled and the world of Vizzed is at peace again." A.K.A. He finished all the work that was stacked up.

Is the Trusted user system going to be revised at some point. After reading through the posts on this thread, I can see why it is considered corrupt by many users. Once a few careless users become Trusted, they just hand out the power to whoever asks.

My personal thought was that becoming Trusted could require more points along with authorization from a moderator. Requiring more points might discourage people from going overboard to get points. Requiring a moderator's authorization would prevent just anyone from getting that power because the moderators would be more willing to look over the user's posts rather than simply handing them the title.

Again, I know this wouldn't be for a while because of the major work that definitely takes precedence over this. It was just an idea I thought of last night after reading the replies on this forum yesterday. I'd rather post it now while I remember it than wait until I forget about it.

the trust point system is going to get an overhaul at some point.... and there have already been a couple of good systems suggested for how to fix the system to prevent abuses like the ones that have been mentioned.

For now don't worry about it. The system will be changed up so that it can't be abused like it is now.
