I have been getting nectarines lately, but very often they will get what looks like rotted spots on them while they are still too crunchy. I'm pretty sure they are not ripe yet, but how could I ripen them faster without them rotting faster as well?

A neat little trick to do is place a couple banana's in something like a paper bag then place the fruit you want to ripen in the bag as well, close off the bag, and viola it will ripen the fruit faster.
