Whenever my laptop is plugged in, it gets really dark, but when it's not plugged in, it will die in like, 15 seconds. It's a Dell Inpiron, with Windows XP. Any suggestions at how I can make it brighter while having it plugged in, or not having to plug it in all the time?

Sounds like you need to adjust some of the power settings.
I cant help much, but here's some links that you might find helpful.

http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/battery.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/powermgmt.mspx
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/russel_02march25.mspx

All laptops are different and come with their own software for some power stuff, so you will have to poke around for the exact settings.
But you are looking for the brightness setting by the sounds of things, when you find it just set it to high under the "when plugged in" box.

DarkHyren : O.K. thank you! I figured out how to conserve it, and there's a button called "Fn" right by Ctrl and Windows Start Button. If you hold that, and press up/down arrow keys, it'll get brighter/dimmer. Thank you so much.
