I'm from New York.
The beaches here are filthy.
I can't remember the last time I went to the beach...
I mean I have..but not to go swimming or step a foot in that filthy water...
Just to roller blade on the boardwalk.
I LOVE swimming..it's my favorite activity during the summer and IN SWIMMING POOLS. The water is purely clean...and you could actually open your eyes and see where you are swimming as oppose to the filth in the seawater which could potentially infect you with something...

I would say the best place for swimming fo rmin my opinion and that would be a difficult one but it would have to be the Lido, heated and sunny and having been cleaned and not too crowded
