What do you expect to change within the next 3-5 generations of systems? Like what do you think the specs will be, how the controllers will be, internet play, the collaspe of a coorperation etc.

I personally think that console gaming will go back to cartridges. Cd's will always be able to only store so much data where there are now catridges that hold up to 25 gigs. The only reason i think they areant doing this now is because the cartidges cost more. They also want to keep the systems backward compatible.

I think that Nintendo will collaspe and be like Sega makeing their formally exclusive games for other systems.

I think the specs will be like 20ghz, 5 gig ram, 1gig Video Cards. The systems would need like a built in airconditioner(not a fan an actualy air conditioner) because the immense heat caused by the ultra power proccessoer.

i think that controller will be 2 seperate pieces(one for left hand and one for right). They will pretty much have like 6 buttons each on them. For flight simulator, futureistic space fighter, and even FPS the controller with be motion related so you actually aim with your arm. They will also have glasses/headphones to make RPGs so that you can actually look around with your head and only see the game and not see it from a screen.

For internet play i like think there will be much more Massive Multiplayer games. Like MMOFPS(Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter). Someone could make a WWII game which has people play with thousands of other people.

Internet play is pretty much a given as to becoming bigger.

As for you assesment of Nintendo I am going to have to disagree. I was looking at some polls on GameFAQs.com and http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=1962 shows that out of 55,000 votes that 16 % were just going to buy just a Revolution and that another 23% were going to buy 2 out of the three systems. And then there is this: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=1952 which shows that 26% of the 57,000 people that voted are looking forward to the Revolution the most. The Xbox 360 was lower on both those polls. Granted not scientific but interesting.

If they can't turn it around with Revolution then they will be in major trouble, but they have a good shot at turning it around. Sega really just had too much going and never got that many good games out for most of their systems.

Well all Nintendo imo has been 1 let down after another with a few exceptions.

Super Mario 64 imo completely sucked. No 3+D Mario can ever beat a 2d mario. Mario is a game that will only be great on 2d things.

I think that it'll be like virtual reality. You don't play a game you live the game. That would be cool. And you can even have things that simulate pain by conducting small volts of electricity.

Of course console specs and processing abilities are going to get higher and online play is now a must for all of the systems. I think Nintendo is going to be fine, the lineup of upcoming DS games looks very good and GC games are getting better.

The Sega DC had many good games, alot were strange but I would blame their failure on their marketing techniques. The DC was released right before the PS2, everyone had their cash ready for the PS2 and didnt buy a DC.

Might get b****ed at for this but I really cant stand alot of the 2D Mario games, Mario 64 was a good game although not good enough to buy a 2nd time for the DS.

I am going to agree with you about Super Mario 64. It was a good game. But I wouldn't mind a new 2d mario as long as it was totally awesome.

Oh and new Zelda info it is susppossed to have 70 hours of gameplay.

HA HAHAHHAHAHAHAH Finally something Xciting to talk about. I don't know what you mean about the next gen systems 3.5. because they arn't going to have near that power.even a quarter of that power. Sega had good games. Sega had good consoles. Sega is the BOMB. But sega did go bankrupt.... I blame it on the trendy a**h*** Sony gamers, and the Trendy a**h*** gamers (Damn FF lovers) and the trendy a**h*** game magazines that did it. Grant it that sega made some dumb console decisions. (nintendo went with catridges and lost final fantasy, and the sony is dumb with two contollers) The Dreamcast totally rocked and how many years was it out before sony got online? What mabey 5? I remember playing quake 3 arena AHHHHHH< AHHHHh it was sooo good. SOOOO much smoother and faster and harcore than goldeneye or perfect dark. I became deadly with that rail gun too. The good old days with Shemue and Toy Commander. When the Trendy a**h*** sony gamers were playing GTA and FF10 (mabey not that far back) BUT anyways ^ is my opinion

Nooooo they arn't going to revert to cartrides you fool, they've had cd device like things back in 2001 that held 30 gigbytes and more. Look it up in the milinium edition guneiss book of records or whatever. But yeah, no more cartridge. You'll notice even the psp uses minidisk like game cards. THE big N hasn't done bad.... They just have the GBA and the GBC to keep them alive. Of course they would be in trouble without that. But they make alot more money when they sell a psp for 70$ than when microsoft sells a box for $150. I am done venting. What Mrmenz said had a ring of truth, but that kindof goes back to the TRENDY a**h*** GAMER THING!! Everyone was saving up for a ps2.... PHAW, the first generation of Ps2 games absoluteley sucked on the graphics. No KIDDIng, the dreamcast had it beat. Luckily it got better though.

Its 1:30 and i felt like being angry.... well there you have it lol. SOny is my arch nemisis. Saturn and the dreamcast rock!!! THE DREAMCAST IS NOT DEAD!!!!!!! IT WILL LIVE FOREVER!!! (like disco) ANd IT TOTALLLY OWNS THE PS2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK IM DONe

Cartidges were made out of circuit boards. That's like... Installing a new Audio card whenever you wanted to make a game. That also means that Game Designers had to make their own hardware interface to access the System. And that's sad. =p

If they came out with another cartridge system, the cartridges would have to be "general purpose" and maybe even re-writable, to gain mass programming support.

They're going to either go with Zip-disks, Jazz-drives, or CDROM/DVD/Minidisc drives from now on. That's the sadder truth. =p

The happier truth is that hopefully, (like I thought they promissed with XBox 1) the systems will be more upgradable than previous models. This means fewer and fewer systems will be thrown away, in preference toward upgrading them.

Imagine a system in which you would only have to get a better "Video CPU" to play the latest game, instead of buying a newer playstation. (Say, You have a PS3, with a +2 videochip which equals a PS5...) Where you could choose between a "Telephone Modem" and a "Network Interface" plugin. Where you could upgrade your "Headphone module" to a "Four speaker surround box" or a "Full Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Driver". USB Gamepad Controllers? I think so!

Well about ur CD there my friend how much did this cost to make? Also what type of CD is this?

Also Microsoft will stop makeing consoles. they will have a Os called Windows Gs(Game Station). This will allow programs to directly acces the hardware allowing you to play all your previous games on emulators.

I don't remember exactly what it was called but it was somthing rom, And my guess is it wasn't cost effective either, I didn't mean to sound superior and know everything just telling you. I believe that cd's are alot cheaper to make and produce than cartridges. I don't know about the windows game station.

Also catridges can allow game company not to include Hard drives. This could save them about $20-$50 a system. They are much more durable then Cd's aswell. They would allow people to take blank catridges and possibly program their own games?!?!?! tho this would allow copying to be easyier they could password protect the files. They could sell like a $100 dollar ultra catridge which would allow you to goto a store and buy games like 1/4 the price and store them on the cartridge.

The gamestation is something i want made. Its not actually anything other then an OS. So therefor its just a pieace of software. Windows XP doesn' allow any program to directly use the hardware(?), so it would require like a 6ghz proccessor currently to make a perfect Xbox, PS2, or Gamecube emulator.

The new consoles should have mass storage tape drives lol. Although their expensive as hell they totally own. In all seriousness I ever doubt this type of media will ever see the light of day on a console.

Cartridges are kinda of impractical when you can produce a CD for 1 cent, CD's also last a long while if they are properly taken care of. Hard drives dont need to come with systems, we have memory cards for that.

I really would like consoles to not become PC clones.

Agreed Rem, but in the sense they have hard-drives. They're pretty much over-clocked Commodore 64s.

You can even get the X-Box to run Linux.

It'd be kool to have a linux X-box but I dunno if I would do it. Mainly because the Xbox isn't a very efficient PC. *Looks at last post*, geez I must have been tired look at all those typos, lemme fix that...

Dude a console with a tape drive would be f***ing awesome, ive seen tape cartridge things(for lack of a better term) that hold roughly 320 Gig of data. Although ive only ever seen them utilized in server backups.

It would be really kool if you could use a credit card and an internet connection on a console to download games rather than going to a gamestore to buy them.

Thats why i said Microsoft won't make consoles anymore :p. Consoles only advantage currently is the pwoer which is completely because it allows direct access to hardware.

That one maybe kinda difficult to have happen. I mean M rated games can be sold to 7 year olds. And not everyone has a credit card and i know my parents don't like to use a credit card unless they have to. Plus interest on those are high.
