I don't lucid dream much at all. I've read a lot about the topic though since dreams interest me so much, and I have found that there are ways to actually train your subconscious to dream about certain things before you even fall asleep. It's crazy, really, but it makes sense to be able to allow yourself to dream of what you want.

Along similar lines, has anyone ever undergone sleep paralysis? They say a person only experiences it once or twice in his/her entire lifetime, if that.

SUCCESS! I succeeded in lucid dreaming. It involved me ridding in a car through some sharp turns, then I notice that snakes are appearing near walls but aren't coming at us, I proceed to realize that I'm dreaming. It starts to turn into what I wanted it to be, a pokemon dream, but then I was woken up for church.

crap.

And yes, I HAVE undergone sleep paralysis before, but it was a few years ago when I was a little kid.

I believe I've had several lucid dreams. They were kind of like having ESP, like I knew what was going to happen in the short future off a dream. After dreaming, I'd know like all these details to how something would unfold and still would proceed, ignoring my dream, to find myself found in a bit of a pickle. Lucid dreams are amazing and really interesting to me.
