What's the least number of pokemon you need to beat the game?
Is it possible to beat up to the Elite Four with only one pokemon?

Also, I don't mean "Would it be hard?" I mean, "Is it possible?"
I KNOW how hard it would be.

Originally, the first question was going to be "With only one pokemon," But I realized HM/TMs exist.
So... With one is impossible.

Anyways, thoughts?

It is definitely possible although I haven't tried it yet. I've never really found a pokémon I'd want to do that with but I may consider using Natu/Xatu once I could get it. You'd definitely need an HM slave or two for traveling purposes though. Probably a water move capable pokémon for the inevitable gym that needs surfing/diving/waterfalling to & a Strength/Rock Smash using pokémon for the inevitable spelunking needed to get to the Elite Four. I'll have to try it at some point. I'm just wondering if, say you found your favorite pokémon & you wanted to train it, if you sent it out first but switched & your solo pokémon did all the work, would it still be considered a solo attempt?

Its possible but the hardest thing to do is to chose which would be best. I did that in my pokemon silver, I believe I used a Blastoise. If you remember what kind of pokemon the elite four use. if you have a counter to them all then you're good to go. good luck

I made a point at one time to beat the game through with each starter and nothing else (except HM slaves). It was easy and quick.

It's hard, but it's possible.
I did it once on my gameboy with my charizard(level:100) and 30 super potions.
But I have to admit that I was very lucky that time, because many attacks of my enemy were missed.
But I don't think that I could win, without being so lucky...

its very possible heck i did it lol..now that mi think aboput it all the times ive beatin them with one pokemon it was my starter..not including blue and red bcuz i jus used the rare candy cheat to make my pokemon to level 100 and the dominate them lol.but the other ones i did it with mky stasrter,some revives,and full restores lol

It's possible if and only if it is at a much higher level than the Elite 4 and has attacks that can damage their Pokemon (like if it couldn't attack ghost Pokemon you'd be stuck on that in Gen1 and 3) but I defiantly don't recommend it.

If you only did it with your starter, you wouldn't be able to use revives since your only pokémon would faint & you'd be sent back to the pokécenter.

I have been training my typhlosion..and my typhlosion only, so by the time I reached the elite four, he was around level 70-something. Though he did need to get revived a few times, but it is very possible.
In the Gold game, does anyone know of the secret boss, Red..? He makes the Elite Champion look like a wimp, yet I did manage to beat him with just my typhlosion...I guess I was just lucky his blastoise didnt use any water moves on me..
