I think it would be a decent addition to the series if he could be made to be something other than a Samus clone... If you think about it their moves would be fairly similar... That's the last thing the series needs is MORE clone characters... So all in all I'm for Mega Man being in the next entry in the series if they can give him a unique enough moveset to set him apart from everyone else.

I think Megaman would be a great add, and is well deserving of it. His swapable powers would add a unique twist, too.

there are others i think should be in too, like, Bomberman, Bill from contra, and Amaterasu from Okami for starters. They would each bring an interesting twist to the game
