Mega Man V introduced us to the Star droids an alien race of robots. The star droids except for 1 are named after planets in our solar system. Mars is one of the star droids that made his debut in Mega Man V for Game Boy.

Background- Sometime after the events of Mega Man IV for Game Boy Dr. Wily unearthed Sun Star. Wily noticed that Sun Star was made out of alien material and general weapons would not be effected. Dr. Wily used Sun Star as a template to create 9 new robot masters. The 9 robot masters plus Sun Star were called the Stardroids a group of alien robot masters. Mars was one those created from that group.

Dr. Wily also used Napalm Man as a template to create Mars. Wily created Mars like Napalm man to be a walking weapon with lots of fire power as Mars has several different types of weapons he can use.

Mars participated in the first wave of attack by the Stardroids. Mars appears to take over a military base. He rigged the base with several exploding enemies, warheads, and land mines. He awaited Mega Man's arrival and believing he could defeat Mega Man seeing how the Star Droid Leader Terra defeated him earlier. What Mars did not know is that Dr. Light had equipped Mega Man with new weapons that could damage the Stardroids.

Having a no surrender and war like attitude Mars challenged Mega Man and despite putting up a good fight was defeated by him. It is revealed in Mar's CD data that he is still alive. It is not known if he still works for Wily or not.

Appearance- Mars is described as a human robot that resembles a walking tank. He had a human like head. He has a cannon on the top of his helmet that he can fire missiles are large shells out of. He has two cannons on his hand that he can shoot missiles out of. His shoes have wheels and tank tracks on them. He also has cannons for shoulder pads. On his back he has a device that allows him to lay down mines. He is mostly red in color and has red armor. Although he does have a little bit of blue on him.

Personality- Mars is all about war similar to Napalm Man he is a walking weapon and he knows that. He likes war because he can be used in conflicts. He also likes to test weapons. It is revealed he likes survival games because he can use all of his weapons in those types of games. Despite him being a walking weapon and war machine he does surprisingly have a soft spot inside of him. Mars really cares about his comrades and allies and will do just about anything to help them. He is also loyal and does not betray his friends. He does not like corrosive water because it is his weakness as it can cause him to temporarily short out. He also does not surrender he fights till he is defeated once again this is due to him being war like and made for war.

Attack- Mars fight can be a frantic one as he has several attacks. His main attack is to use his photon missiles. Mars will fire several missiles at the player/opponent. These missiles if they make contact do a large amount of damage. Another powerful attack is when he shoots bullets or large shells these attacks are also powerful. He will sometimes turn into a tank like, scoot across the room, and lay land mines down. The land Mines explode after a while. He usually does this after he does his other attacks to cause confusion so the player/opponent will either step on the mind or get caught in the explosion. He also likes to scoot across the room real fast to try to collide into the player.

Weakness- Mars is weak to the Salt Water Weapon. The Salt Water Weapon temporarily shorts him out and locks him into a pattern. Eventually the salt water will corrode his armor allowing the player to defeat him. In a few hits with Salt Water Mars will go down. Without his weakness you need good reflexes and luck to defeat him due to his attacks. There is a slight delay after he fires 2 photo missiles before he does another attack. This is a narrow chance to get a shot in.

Defeating Mars will award the player the Photon Missile. This weapon is powerful and very useful against thick or heavy armored enemies. The missile can also be aimed so it hits its target.

Him not being able to go on airplanes is due to all the weapons he has as he cannot get through security. As stated he likes survival games and he is very good. He dislikes surrender because he prefers to fight till he can't anymore.

Mars being a war machine is likely a reference to Greek/Roman Mythology. Mars was seen as a god of war. Also, his armor being red is a reference to Mars being known as the red planet.

He is similar as I mentioned to Napalm Man both are made for war, both have important tasks, and both have different types of weapons they use. Mars is made for conflict and for war. Thus, it is likely Wily used him to be the walking weapon in battle. It is hinted he tests weapons too so it is speculated Wily uses him to test his new weapons.

It is known that Mars is still alive but it is not know if he still works for Wily. Given what he was created for its highly speculated he works for Wily in developing weapons, testing weapons, or like Napalm Man guards Wily's weapon bases. This concludes the Mars Biography.
