Mega Man and Bass continued a trend in Mega Man games and that theme is element based robot masters. Dynamo Man represented electricity. Cold Man, who made his debut in Mega Man and Bass, represents cold/ice.

Background- Cold Man was built from a refrigerator and worked in a DNA lab. He was created because he could create DNA samples at absolute Zero. He could also create ice walls with his weapon to temporarily provide cooling in case the power went out.

When King created his robot army it is speculated that Cold Man joined King's Army to prove he was powerful. Another theory is that King forced him into it. It is not clear or has been confirmed which one it is. Regardless, he ended up working for King and joined his army. However, King was just a puppet for Dr. Wily in his latest scheme. Therefore, he ended up being modified for combat by Wily.

He ended up taking over a lab and research station in the arctic. He anticipated Mega Man or Bass's arrival and waited for them to challenge them to a duel. In Mega Man's quest he is defeated by Mega Man, and in Bass's quest he is defeated by Bass. It is revealed afterwards that he was rebuilt or freed from Wily. He is not seen working for Wily again, so it is likely he went back to his lab job.

Appearance- He resembles a refrigerator because he was originally built from one. He is a short stocky robot master. He has teal, green, and aqua/blue armor. His head has an opening at the top of it that he can create mist enemies. He also has gems on him that he uses to create his ice walls.

Personality- While he is effective at keeping DNA samples cold. He tends to have a care free attitude even after getting modified he has a care free attitude. He also can be slow-witted at times.

Attack- Cold Man has several attacks. His main attack is to create ice walls that he will push across his room. The ice walls can smash the player against the wall. He also loves to summon mist enemies to slow the player down. He also likes to create mist enemies to hide behind the mist in attempt to get some sneak attacks in.

Weaknesses- Cold Man has several weaknesses. First of all he follows a simple pattern. His most dangerous attacks or the ice walls and his mist enemies. He is week to the lightning bolt as the lightning shorts him out. He is also week to wave burner. Wave Burner melts his ice and melts him.

If the player defeats him they will get the Ice Wall Weapon. The Ice Wall can be used as a weapon to smash enemies against walls or spikes. It can also be used to travel on across thorns and spikes. It can also be used to get extra height in jumping.

Cold Man does not like El Nino because El Nino causes warming effect, which causes his ice to melt. He also does not like global warming for the same reason. He loves shaved ice and making things cold. It is hinted he likes to make ice sculptures in his spare time. As stated he has a care free attitude even after getting modified by Wily.

Cold Man is similar to Frost Man. Frost Man was built from a freezer like Cold Man was built from a refrigerator. Also both robot masters have care free attitudes and both have simple minds. In addition, both took over forts/research labs.

Cold Man was rebuilt but he did not go back to work for wily. The most likely theory is that Cold Man after being rebuilt or freed from Wily's control went back to working in the lab.
