Air Man first appeared in Mega Man 2. He was part of an element theme of robot masters. While not as common as electricity, fire, ice, or water, Air Man was the first air themed robot master. He first appeared in Mega Man 2 and has since appeared in other games. So lets learn about the first air based robot master.

After the events of Mega Man Dr Wily decided to get revenge on Mega Man. Wily created 8 new robot masters to send after Mega Man he also used these new robot masters in his latest scheme for world domination. Air Man was one of the 8 robot masters built during the events of Mega Man 2.

Air Man is based on air and was strictly made for combat. His main role was to create destructive tornadoes to not just defeat Mega Man but cause mass destruction in Wily's attempt to take over the world. Air Man was built with a unique design as he does not have a typical face that most robot masters have. Wily would use this to create other robot masters in the future.

Air Man was sent not just to take over the world, but to challenge Mega Man. He built a floating fortress in the sky to lure Mega Man into a trap. He rigged his base with several traps. He eventually challenged Mega Man and despite putting up a huge fight he was defeated.

However, he appeared in later games still working for Wily. It is also revealed that he has a rival with fellow air themed robot master Wind Man. This is because Wind Man is supposed to be an improvement over Air Man.

Appearance- Air Man does not have a human like face. Instead his face is built into his body. This served as a template for Needle Man. He is a very stout robot master and is often seen as being blue and yellow. He has a large fan in the center of his body. He also has cannons on his arms that he can use to produce wind and shoot tornadoes out of his cannons.

Personality- He is very loyal to Wily and does what Wily wants him to without asking. This is why Wily trusts him and could be why Wily used Air Man as a template for other robot masters. He can get on other robot masters nerves because he is known to be a huge talker. He often talks too much. He can sometimes be ego-centric due to being the first air themed robot master. It is shown in later games he believes he is the superior model. He does not like competition.

Attacks- uses his air shooter to shoot powerful tornadoes at his opponents. In later games he can try to blow his opponents off the stage. He also likes to try and jump. Despite not having that many attacks his attacks are powerful.

Weaknesses- Air Man has two weaknesses. Leaf shield is his main weakness as it clogs up his fan and disrupts his ability to produce wind. While not stated he is also likely weak to plant barrier as the leaves from that likely clog up his fans. He can also leave himself open for behind ambush attacks. The player can get behind him and shoot him from the behind. He will eventually blow the player back across the room but this is a good chance to get extra hits in. Due to his personality he believes he is superior this can get him into trouble as he feels like he does not need to be upgraded or learn advanced techniques.

If the player defeats him they will get the Air shooter weapon. A powerful weapon that can shoot three tornadoes out. The tornadoes can do extra hits.

He likes air and wind surfacing in fact in future games it is shown he is very good at it. His dislike for leaves is a reference to his weakness the leaf shield. As stated he can be a talker and talk way too much.

Air Man was the first air themed robot master. As I stated he likely served as a template for future air themed robot masters. Gyro Man, Wind Man, Tengu Man, and Tornado Man are also air themed robot masters and came after Air Man. He also seems to have a rivalry with Wind Man this is due to Air Man thinking he is superior despite Wind Man being seen as an upgrade.

Given how he has appeared in future games it could be he is one of Wily's favorite. This could also be why Wily based other air/wind robot masters off of him. Moreover, Wily could like him because he is loyal to him. He never questions Wily when Wily gives him an order. This concludes the Air Man biography.
