Mega Man 2 is the game that made the Mega Man franchise family. In fact, a lot of gamers consider this the game that put the franchise on the map. Wood Man made his debut in Mega Man 2. He was really the first nature themed robot master. He is also one of my favorite robot masters from Mega Man 2, so lets learn about Wood Man.

After the events of Mega Mega Man One. Dr. Wily built 8 new robot masters and sent them after Mega Man in a revenge attempt. Moreover, he also created these 8 robot masters in his latest attempt to take over the world.

Dr. Wily created Wood Man out of a Japanese cyprus tree. However, his design could also be molded after a Oak or Maple tree. He is made out of mostly wood, but his body has metal coding to protect himself. Due his metal coding and solid nature he has superior strength and is immune to physical blows.

Despite working for Dr. Wily he cares about nature and the forests. On the other hand, he is very loyal to Wily. He eventually builds his base in a forest and has a lot of robots based out of animals that help him patrol his base. He will attack anyone who enters his forest. He started to attack people who would use the forest not just for logging but for recreational activities as well. Eventually, Mega Man entered his base. He challenged Mega Man to a duel and puts up a good fight. However, he is defeated by Mega Man.

After Mega Man 2 he appeared in future games usually in a nature setting. He is shown to still working for wily. Even quoting at one time I will do this for Dr. Wily. It could be argue though he may not be evil as he does believe in protecting nature.

Appearance- Wood Man is a very bulky robot master. He either has red or brown armor depending on the game. His helmet is in the shape of a tree stump. He also sometimes has tree branches sticking out of his wood and sometimes he has a leaf on top of his helmet. His shoes appear to be wood also. In most games he has cream colored hands.

Personality- Wood Man is very kind to his animal robot masters. He also enjoys nature and wants to protect it. He feels the best when he is in the forest. He cannot stand pollution or those who harm nature. Even those that use nature for good he will still go on a rampage if he thinks someone is hurting nature. He will use his weapons to drive people away. Therefore, one could argue he could be kind of like an eco-terrorist. He is also confident as he believes he can defeat Mega Man. He is shown to a good planner and to be determined as he challenges Mega Man again with different attacks.

Attacks- Wood Man uses leaf shield as his man weapon. He surrounds himself with leaves except his leaves are actually made out of metal. This allows him to have good offense and defense. He also loves to try to use his weight to his advantage in battle as well by trying to jump on or into opponents. In later games he can throw his leaf shield.

Weaknesses- Wood Man does have some weaknesses. He is weak to fire or blade type enemies. Atomic fire is his main weakness as it can burn his wood based armor. A fully charged atomic fire can take him out in less than 3 hits. He is also weak to blade weapons such as metal blade. It is also revealed that he is weak to flame sword because its not only a blade weapon but a fire one as well.

If the player defeats him they will get Leaf Shield. Leaf Shield not only protects the player but the leaves can cut through a lot of enemies.

Good Point- He is an environmentalist

Bad Point- he can be extreme at times

Likes- Hiking and being in the forest

Dislikes- Those who abuse the forest and polluters.

Wood Man is one of my favorite Robot Masters from Mega Man 2. The reason being is I also like the environment as I am a meteorologist. I also like the forest. I also think a nature themed robot masters is pretty cool. Speaking of that Wood Man was the first nature themed robot master.

He strongly believes in protecting the environment which according to his CD is his good point. However, he often takes it to extreme attacking anyone who he thinks is trying to harm the forest even if they are using the resources wisely. Thus, he is kind of like an eco-terrorist. He is loyal as he continues to work for Wily even challenging Mega Man several times.

It is hinted that Mega Man respects Wood Man. In one game Mega Man told Wood Man to cut it out and go back to his forest. This implies that Mega Man did not really want to fight Wood Man and that he respects him. He also can be over confident as despite being powerful and planning new attacks he still cannot defeat Mega Man. Although, he puts up good fights which could be another reason why Mega Man respects him. This concludes the Wood Man biography.
