The Mega Man X series has had several presidents or Generals over the Maverick Hunters. In the first three games Dr. Cain was over the Maverick Hunters. In X4 an unnamed commander was president. X5 introduced us to a new character General Signas. Signas has been over the Maverick Hunters since the events of X5. He plays an important role in the Maverick Wars, so lets learn about him.


After Dr. Cain retired or died, and after the Doppler incident. Signas was created as a high advanced reploid, cyborgs who have human characteristics such as showing emotion, making their own choices, and thinking logic. He was created to be a high ranking military type officer. During the events of X4 he was was Vice leader over the Maverick Hunters. X and Zero had the military rank of Captain or Major depending on the version of the game. The civil war between the Hunters and Repliforce broke out. Casualties where high on both sides with both organizations being nearly wiped out. Only did the General of the Repliforce and the unnamed President over the Maverick Hunters realized at the end it was Sigma who started the war. The unnamed General resigned due to the high casualties and for failing to see it was Sigma pulling the strings. After the events of X4 Signas was promoted as President and General over the Maverick Hunters.

Years went by and it seemed like peace had come. However, that was not to be. The events of X5 started to take place. Sigma spread his virus all over the Earth. In the meantime he also sent the space colony to crash into the Earth. Creating the Earth Crisis. Signas stayed calm during the entire event. He guided his high ranking officers X and Zero through the crisis. He proved that he was the right person for the job in that he came up with a plan to destroy the Space Colony avoiding much of the Earth being destroyed. He also saw Sigma defeated once again.

During the events of X6 he told X to be careful and not let his emotions get the best of him. Zero was missing and X had become very mad that Gate and Isocc had created a fake Zero. Eventually, X found the real Zero. Signas filled Zero in on what was happening. He guided X and Zero into stopping Gate.

In X7 X decided to temporarily retire but then mavericks started breaking out. It was originally thought to be Red Alert. Axle fled and told Signas how Red Alert had been manipulated. He let Axle join the hunters to prove his worth and to try to make things right. When X decided to rejoin the hunters he was glad. He once again proved he was a very competent General.

In X8, He again proved he was a competent General by encouraging his high ranking officers Zero and X. Also Axle had been promoted as well. He told them to not let up and that things may not be as they seem. After Lumine (who was really Sigma) defeat he stated he hoped that Peace would finally come.

Appearance- Signas is a very tall reploid similar to the Repliforce General. He is shown to have a high ranking military like officer hat. In fact he is built to look like an actual general in uniform. He has yellow pads on his shoulders again referencing his rank. He seems to have navy, black, red and yellow armor. It also appears he has more gems on his chest due to the awards he has earned by the world organizations for his leadership.

Personality- Signas has several personality traits. He is always calm even during difficult situations such as the Earth Crisis, the Nightmare crisis, and the Jacob crash incident. He has excellent leadership abilities and is very level headed. Furthermore, he has a strong sense of justice as he wants mavericks stopped or defeated.

He strives for peace where humans and reploids exists peacefully with no threat of war or Sigma Virus. He shares X's optimistic idea that a world like that can be created. On the other hand, he recognizes that war and violence is sometimes needed to eliminate danger.

In addition, he shows he can also be a counselor such as when he counseled X and Zero and told them they are not to blame themselves for the maverick wars. He tells X that sometimes fighting is needed to bring peace and that X was doing the right thing. This motivated X to come out of temporarily retirement. It also gave Zero encouragement to keep fighting.

He also believes in giving people chances. He gave Axle a chance to atone for his actions by letting him become a Hunter. He encouraged the young reploid to keep doing what he felt like was right. He seemed to ignore Axle's mistakes as he realized that Axle was just trying and still young. AS Axle proved himself he gave him a promotion. Moreover, this shows he is trusting.

He is also empathetic. He knows that Zero and later Alia have trauma and or in torment. He was also empathetic to Axle wanting to make things right. He also knows why X gets frustrating as new wars break out. Yet he provides guidance and is a well balanced person. He cares deeply for his team and others.

Abilities- Signas has advanced CPU that lets him remain calm even during the toughest situations. He is a great leader and master strategists. He has multiple personality traits but he finds the right balance and as I stated is level headed. This helps him when he develops plans for the Maverick hunters. It also helps him develop missions for X, Zero, and Axle.

Attacks/Moves- It is not known if Signas has any combat moves or attacks. He is most often found at the Hunter Base monitoring what is going on. His greatest asset is his mind and leadership abilities.

Relationships Allies-

Zero- He recognizes that Zero is torment having been the original carrier of the virus. He trusts Zero completely and encourages him. He also tells Zero that he should not blame himself. Zero does not show it but he looks up to the General and shares his idea of a peaceful world. Also, Signas defended Zero when Lifesaver wanted to isolated Zero as Zero grew stronger during the events of X5. Signas knowing Zero's background said that was not needed.

X- He shares X optimism that a peaceful world can be created where humans and reploids live with no threat of war or the Sigma Virus. He encourages X to work hard to build that world. But he also tells X that sometimes fighting is needed. He sees that him and X have a lot of the same traits though X can sometimes get emotional. Still he trusts X because his heart is always in the right place.

Axle- He gives Axle a chance to make things right. He serves as a mentor to the young Axle. He encourages him to learn from his mistakes when he makes them. He knows Axle heart is good and is in the right place. This is why he defended Axle even when he messed up. Axle does not show it but he looks up to Signas.

Alia- He trusts Alia and like Zero knows she has a past. Like Zero he encourages her when the nightmare breaks out he tells her not to blame herself for Gate going insane. He sees how good Alia is.

Layer and Paulette- He trusts the two new analysis to do their jobs which they do.

Douglass- He knows that Douglass has a great mechanical and engineering mind. He lets Douglass know that his role is just as important as the others.

Enemies-

Sigma- Signas despises Sigma for all the wars he has started, all the lives he has ruined for both humans and reploids. He also knows how dangerous Sigma is. He wants Sigma to be completely destroyed for good.

Dynamo- He does not like Dynamo because Dynamo keeps bothering the hunters and interfering in missions. Such as when he fired on the Hunter Base during the Earth Crisis, and when he got in the way of Nightmare missions. Signas called him an arrogant reploid that had no sense of moral.

Gate- At one time Signas respected Gate due to the ladders research abilities. He at one time defended Gate as he knew Gate was trying to create reploids to help the world. When Gate became a maverick and created the Nightmare Death Trap that changed. He saw that Gate had become evil. After Alia failed to convince her friend to stop this madness and delete everything. He told the Hunters to stop Gate's evil.

Red- At first Signas did not trust Red but he respected him. As Red's organization Red Alert had kept Maverick outbreaks down even though they did not follow the law. When Red became infected he told the now three hunters to stop him. However, it was discovered that it was not red but Sigma who was at it once again.

Signas was created to be an effective military officer. He serves this role perfect and he takes his role seriously. He wants there to be peace on Earth. On the other hand, he knows that force and fighting is needed. He also knows that evil needs to be stopped. He is always there for his team and trusts his team completely. While he is a great leader, he also wants his team to know he is their friend and they can talk to him. This is why his high ranking officers X and Zero trusts him.

Due to him being level headed he has won several awards for handling crisis. Signas has had to deal with a lot of crisis since being promoted to President/General over the Maverick Hunters. He always faces crisis with calmness, which allows him to develop effective plans. Therefore, the world organizations know he was the right person for the job. Even if the hunters have to retreat he does not blister them. Instead he tells them to power up, regroup, and try it again.

His name could be made to sound like Sigma on purpose to show the contrast between the two characters. Sigma is an evil being that wants to destroy the Earth, and build his own world. Signas is not evil and wants their to be peace and wants to see Sigma destroyed for Good.

In conclusion, Signas is a well balanced character. He has proven himself to be very effective. He will always be ready to face a crisis. He provides leadership to his team. He also cares for them, humans, and reploids. He does take risks but he tries to pick the less risky option. He was a great character to be introduced to the X series. This concludes his biography.
