Well here's something I don't think Tornadocam thought about talking about, The only F5 Tornado to ever hit Canada (the country wouldn't adapt the EF system til 2013), in Elie Manitoba to be exact, and it's easy for me to remember because it got coverage for a bit, apparently it was part of a two day out break of tornadoes that hit the area (meanwhile in Winnipeg we got a hailstorm) even though it was initially listed as an F4 it was upgraded to being an F5 tornado 3 months after touchdown

Miraculously no one was killed or injured when that tornado hit however it caused 39 million in damage

I actually remember this tornado. It was a monster for Canada. This was from the same storm system that caused a tornado outbreak in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. A total of 16 tornadoes touched down in those 4 states.

However, long lived F2/EF2 tornadoes developed in Saskatchewan and Manitoba Canada. The first EF2 developed in extreme southeast Saskatchewan. Another EF2 developed in Manitoba. A high end EF3 tornado touched down in Pipestone Manitoba.

The most violent tornado occurred in Ellie Manitoba which was rated an EF5.

What caused this outbreak was you had a strong frontal boundary with cooler air aloft behind it. Then you had warm moist air ahead of it. Then you had strong jet level winds coming out from the Northern Rockies. All the ingredients came together to produce the Upper Midwest USA and Canada tornado outbreak.

In both countries a total of 23 tornadoes occurred as well as several reports of damaging winds 60-80 mph, and lots of large hail reports.
