Goombario is a Mario ally that first appeared in Paper Mario also known as Super Paper Mario in some countries. He is a key party member. He later appears in other games as well. Anyway, lets learn about this Paper Mario Party Member.

As his name implies Goombario is a goomba. However, unlike regular goombas he does not work for Bowser. He leaves with his sister, parents, and grandparents in Goomba Village. He was leaving in his village peacefully until the events of Paper Mario.

During the events of Paper Mario. Bowser stole the star rod, attacked Peach's castle, kidnapped Peach, raised her castle in the air, and knocked Mario out of the castle. Mario landed in Goomba village. Goombario's sister Goombaria found Mario. She alerted her family. The goombas took him to toad house so he can recover. When Mario recovered, he helped Goombario's grandparents and parents by breaking a thick wall blocking their way out of the village. Goombario parents and grandparents suggest that Mario take Goombario with him on his quest in defeating Bowser.

Goombario helps Mario by using his head bonk in battle, and providing tattles. The tattles provide Mario information on characters as well as enemies. He helps Mario defeat Bowser along with the other party members. After the quest he is invited to a victory party along with the other party members hosted by Peach.

Appearance- Goombario is a typical Goomba. He has two freckles on his cheeks, and has the standard Goomba teeth. He is mostly brown in color. His shoes are either brown or brick red depending on the game. He wears a blue baseball cap.

Personality- He is an adventure seeking Goomba. He was glad when he was picked to go with Mario on his quest. He also loves to study as he states he has read professor Kolorado's books. He also has read books by the Master on defense. He also likes to work out and does exercises again that the Master wrote in his book. He likes to go out of his way to help those in need. He was eager to help Mario, other characters along the way, and help save Peach. Moreover, he is also bold as he clearly states he hates eating fish and is afraid of heights.

Despite having a fear of heights he wants to overcome this to be a strong goomba like his grandfather. He can come across as as a ladies man as sometimes he tries to flirt with some of the female characters. He can get angry when he feels like his friends or family are in danger. He states that he despises Bowser and his minions. He also stands up to bullies as he stood up to Jr Troopa. It is also shown he sometimes can taunt as he taunts Jr. Troopa several times in the game.

Abilities- Goombario despite being small has some great abilities. His jump and head bonk attack can be useful in battle when Mario needs to get a few hit points in. His main ability is to provide information on enemies, characters, and opponents. This is his tattle ability. This makes him very useful. Furthermore, he can also serve as a map in worlds.

Attacks- His main attack his his jump attack and bonk attack. His attacks are simple but they can provide quick hit points on opponents.

Luigi- He looks up to Luigi saying he hopes he can be a useful sidekick like Mario's brother.

Mario- He looks up to Mario and was so full of glee when he was picked to join Mario on his quest.

Peach- He highly respects Peach and was so glad to help her and attend her victory party.

Kooper- His friends with Kooper, although they have a friendly rivalry but they state they are friends.

Lady Bow- He gets along with Lady Bow.

Other Party Members- He gets along with them.

Yoshii- He considers Yoshii a hero along with Mario and Luigi. He states he likes playing with young Yoshiis

His family- He greatly respects his family members.

Enemies

Jr. Troopa- He considers Jr Troopa a bully. However, Jr. Troopa does not like Goombario. That is because Goombario often stands up to him will defend himself against the young troopa. This makes Jr. Troopa angry at just seeing Goombario.

Kammy Koopa- He does not like Kammy because she created or caused the big boulder to fall in front of his village blocking the way out.

Bowser- He does not like Bowser due to Bowser causing a massive earthquake that did damage to his village. Also since Bowser kidnapped Peach and is evil.

Overall, Goombario is an important ally to Mario in the events of Paper Mario. He is adventurous, playful, but also serious. He wants to make Mario as well as his family proud. He also wants to help Mario defeat Bowser. He states his goal is to become a strong Goomba like his grandfather was. This implies that his grandfather may have been a powerful goomba back in his day. He is not afraid to stand up to what is right and is not even afraid to stand up to those bigger than him. This is shown when he stands up to Jr. Troopa. His attacks are simple. What makes him useful is his tattle ability.
