Volt Catfish is a reploid, cyborgs with human characteristics, that first appeared in Mega Man X3. He went maverick, reploids that pose a danger to the world, during the events of Mega Man X3. He is often considered a tragic victim, more on that later on, so lets learn about Volt Catfish.

It is unknown who created Volt Catfish. He was originally created with a huge power generator. The generator could supply him with unlimited electricity. Therefore, he was originally created to protect power plants from maverick attacks. In addition, he was also created to provide power to cities that had power crisis rather it be due to a maverick attack, or a natural disaster. He was known to be a jolly reploid.

He was needed in Doppler Town to provide power. Due to enjoying providing power for cities in need he accepted the job to provide power to Doppler's Power plant. He did his job well providing power at the power plant. But things were about to change for Volt Catfish. He started to get infected with the Sigma Virus due to Sigma spreading it around. Dr. Doppler also became infected. Under Sigma's orders Doppler ordered Volt Catfish to take over the power plant. He turned the power plant into a maverick base and started to supply power to the mavericks. In addition, he was shutting off power to Doppler Town. Other cities were worried that he would eventually shut off their power due to his huge electric capabilities.

When X and Zero head to Doppler Town to get to the bottom on why Doppler went maverick, and why is the virus spreading. They eventually made their way to the power plant. Volt Catfish taunted X and Zero and dared them to take him down and to defeat him. X and Zero Knew this was not like Volt, but they raided the power plant. Eventually, X and Zero encountered Volt Catfish and destroyed him. After destroying Volt Catfish the two Maverick Hunters liberated the Power Plant from maverick control and restored the cities electrical supply. However, X and Zero did feel remorse for Volt Catfish like they did Blizzard Buffalo, Neon Tiger, Blast Hornet, and to some extent Tunnel Rhino.

Appearance- Volt Catfish appears to be a teal reploid. He is based off a catfish and closely resembles a cat fish. He has a large mouth with large whiskers. He has two generators on his back and he also has a long tail. Moreover, he is bulky and heavy.

Personality- Volt Catfish before he became a maverick was a jolly reploid. He loved to be playful and joke around. He also loved supplying power for those in need. It made him feel wanted. He took his job very seriously. After getting infected his personality changed. He became violent and full of rage. He would attack anyone who entered the power plant. He also was no longer jolly but was described as being insane. He seems to have become arrogant after getting infected. This is shown when he taunts X and Zero to come get him and destroy him.

Abilities- Volt could release different amounts of electricity. How much he released was up to him. When he was a good guy he would provide power to cities in need. The two large generators gave him unlimited electricity. In addition, due to being covered with electrical friendly material who could swim in the water despite being electric. He is is very powerful and fast. He is powerful on the land and in the water. He is faster in the water but not as fast on land. He makes up with his slow speed on land due to his power. When he is a maverick he loves to shock his opponents.

Attacks- Volt Catfish has several powerful attacks. This makes him one of the more dangerous mavericks of X3 along with Neon Tiger. Volt's main attack is his electric bullet attack. In this attack volt will release a powerful electric sphere at his opponent. If this attack hits an opponent it shocks them doing massive damage. Another attack is he can send electric mines at the player. In this attack he fires three electrical spheres. His most lethal attack is the Triad Thunder. Volt will powerful himself up and release lightning strikes in multiple directions. If the Triad Thunder hits an opponent it does massive damage. He also loves to jump on the player and use his press attack. Volt will try to slam into the player using his weight to his advantage.

Weakness- Volt is weak to the Tornado Drill. The Tornado Drill bores into his thick armor and can stun him. It is easy to lock him into a pattern when using the drill weapon. However, he is quick and powerful and will attack after being hit.

If the player defeats him they will gain the Triad Thunder. The Triad Thunder is one of the more powerful weapons in Mega Man X3.
