Mega Man X5 gave us some interesting characters. I have been waiting to do a biography on one of my favorite mavericks from Mega Man X5. That maverick is The Skiver also known as Spiral Pegasus). He is one of my favorites from the game along with Axle the Red, and Squid Adler. So, lets learn about this maverick from Mega Man X5.

He is based off of the mythical creature the Pegasus. His head is horse like while his wings are avian or bird like. He has mostly white and red armor. Repliforce logo is on his forehead.

The Skiver was a high ranking officer in the Repliforce army. He was second in command of the air force after storm owl. Due to being an officer this made him close to the Colonel and General. He looked up to the General and Colonel and was friends with them. However, the tragic events unfolded in Mega Man X4. He saw 90% of the Repliforce get wiped out with their war against the hunters. In the end it was Sigma manipulating Repliforce. He was one of the very few surviving members along with Burn Dino.

After the events of Mega Man X4 he started to question himself and came a little depressed. After, All he saw 90% of his army destroyed, saw his close friends die in a pointless war. For a little while he had a grudge against the Maverick Hunters for killing his friends. In time he realized they were just doing their job and it was Sigma that was the person responsible. He started to rebuild the Repliforce Air force. He wanted them to be what they where originally supposed to be. The remaining Repliforce had one small base which he had set up. At some time he had acquired an orbital wing.

Sadly, he would be involved in another tragedy. After Sigma sent the Space Colony crashing toward the earth and scattering the Sigma Virus. He saw his soldiers become mavericks. He started to become infected himself. When X and Zero came to him to get the Orbital wing for the shuttle to destroy the space colony he was in the early stages of being infected. He explained the situation to X and Zero. He asked them to kill him so he would not become a dangerous maverick. He also explained he wanted to die a military death and not that of a true maverick. X and Zero killed him but they felt bad about having to kill him as they knew what he had been through.

It what is considered cannon X and Zero say to one another after killing him "Did we really have to kill him was their a chance he could have been saved. After all he has been through several tragedies. Zero states "He had been in turmoil for a while having to leave through the tragic war. He didn't want to become one of them. He wanted to die with honor, but I was hoping we would not have to do it".

Also what is considered Cannon he states the following

When confronted by X first time
X my unit has become maverick. But considering what is happening we do not have time for talk. You are our only hope. But since I'm infected will you battle me so I don't become one of them.

X Second Time
I didn't want to meet you in this type of situation. I have been infected and will soon be a maverick. Please before I lose my mind please kill me so I don't become a danger.

Confronted with Zero first time
I've wanted to see you. I have to ask you something did you really have to kill the Colonel and General. I'm not accusing
you I just want to know. I have been infected by the virus. Please take me down before I turn into a maverick.

Confronted with Zero second time.
I have become a maverick. Please kill me so I can die a military death like the Colonel. I want to do this for the colonel as that is what is expected of me.

Personality Wise: The Skiver is a great military strategist as he is a high ranking officer. He takes his role seriously. He also is protective of his soldiers. He also has good leadership ability. He also has a lot of good in him. As once he knows he is infected he ask to be killed so he is not a danger. He does not want to do more harm. He also seems to have a little bit of trauma due to seeing his friends die in a pointless war, and seeing 90% of the entire army destroyed. He can sometimes become isolated.

However he can be stubborn. As he was most likely stubborn in the events of Mega Man X4. When Repliforce refused to surrender and talk to the Hunters. Had they done that the war may not have happened. Instead they chose to fight. He is also very prideful. This has lead him to make some mistakes.

Attacks: The Skvier can be a tough opponent due to his powerful attacks. He uses his wings to create his hurricane wind. The wind can blow the player off the platform into the pit. He also has his dash tackle this can knock the player into the pit. He can also create a tornado to damage the player. He also has his powerful attack the flying uppercut. Overall, he is a fast and powerful boss.

His Weakness is dark hold as this stuns him. It is unknown why this is his weakness though.

Overall, the Skiver is seen as a victim in the Maverick Wars. He survived the tragic events from X4, but was destroyed in X5. He was one of the few characters that was a good guy. He is considered a victim because he asked to be taken out rather than become a danger. He knew what would happen when the virus completely took control of him. As like I mentioned X and Zero also feel bad for having to kill him.

He is one of my favorites because he uses weather events as his attacks such as his hurricane wind and forming tornadoes. As a meteorologist I was glad to see a boss use weather attacks. He is one of two boxes from X5 that use weather attacks. The other being Squid Adler who uses lightning. I also like it how he is one of the characters that you are meant to have pity for. Even though technically he is a maverick he is not a true maverick, and is not really a bad guy.
