Punch out has lots of characters. Some have only appeared in certain games. The more well known characters have appeared in several punch out games. One of those is Don Flamenco. Anyway, lets learn about this punch out character. Don Flamenco first appeared in the NES game punch out. He was absent in Super Punch Out. However, he has appeared in recent punch out games. He also makes a cameo appearance in other games as well. Don grew up in Madrid Spain. In future games it is shown he is not only a boxer but a bull fighter. He would use his boxing techniques while fighting bulls. He talks about Carmen his love. Most like Carmen is his wife, fiancee, or girlfriend. She is believed to be the girl he always gives the rose too after fights. Flamenco boxing skills became very good. He would move his way up in the ranks. Eventually he would become Major Circuit Champion. He has won a huge majority of his matches. It is shown outside of the ring he still participates in bull fighting. Appearance wise Flamenco is usually portrayed as wearing red and yellow orange boxing shorts, red and yellow orange shoes. It should be noted his boxers have a white band on them with a red rose. It should be noted Red and Yellow/orange are the colors of Spain's flag. Attack Wise Flamenco has got some powerful attacks. His most powerful attack is his Flamenco uppercut. This will drain 1/4 or 1/3 of Mac (who the player control's ) energy. He also has quick jabs. His other attack is what I like to call his fast uppercut. He will count in Spanish before rushing at the player with a fast uppercut. His strengths are his speed, being agile, and his powerful uppercuts. Basically, he is an offense type boxer. His weakness is he can leave himself open before he does his two powerful uppercut moves. This is when the player can get hits on him. Doc Louis even tells you that. This is also most likely how he lost the very few fights he did. One of his loses was to Mr. Sandman who is one of the hardest boxers in the Punch Out games. Personality Wise Flamenco personality really varies. At first he comes across as being a romantic as he gives Carmen roses. It is also shown he is very vain looking at himself in the mirror. He is very passionate about his hair. But, it is revealed he has lost most of his hair at a young age. He wears a toupee and does not like for it to be revealed. Basically, he thinks he is hot stuff and he could be a narcissist. His personality also changes constantly. It is shown that he can be arrogant as he taunts Mac. Telling him you poor thing (if you miss with a star punch), Not good enough (if you fail to dodge his attacks) If you knock off his toupee he will become enraged and start punching harder. This is likely due to it being shown he is bald, which he is ashamed of. If he knocks out Mac he will laugh. Then he will put a rose on Mac and say adios which is Spanish for goodbye. Other times he compliments Mac if Mac dodges his attack successfully he will say good job. If you hit him he says you got me. In some games he even says you got me. According to Translators Flamenco says the following Carmen my Love I dance and win for you I'm a beautiful fighter I have such style People love my hair don't mess up my hair Taunts Come ON after knocking down Mac You poor thing Not good enough Can you keep up You missed I'm over here Look at this I'm Don Flamenco Don't you think I smell like victory to you When Hit Good job you got me Oh I missed but you got me Not Yet How can it be If Don wins several roses will fall down from the ceiling. This is a reference to Spanish bullfights. If the bullfighter wins. The crowd will throw roses. They will give the Bullfighter a bravo cheer. Here is his stats from Punch Out From: Madrid Spain Age: 23 years old Height: 185 centimeters that is 6'1 ft Weight: 69 kilograms are around 152 pounds Wins-22 wins 9 being knock outs Loses: 3 one is to Mr. Sandman Of the punch out characters Don Flamenco has the most multiple personalities. His personality is a mix of being confident, being complimentary, being arrogant, being vain, and being angry. It really depends on his mood and how he is doing in the ring. While it is not referenced considering the Punch out series came out in the 1980's. I wonder if Flamenco inspired the Street Fighter Character Vega. Vega made his debut in Street Fighter II. Like Flamenco Vega is shown to be vain, a narcissist who loves his face, his looks, and hair. Again, not referenced in any games. But seeing how the characters are similar I have to question if Vega was inspired by Flamenco Anyway, this completes the biography Don Flamenco first appeared in the NES game punch out.
