Less than a year after shocking the world and bursting on to the scene with a 2nd place finish at Genesis 8, Jmook, the Sheink main from Binghamton, New York, has won his first major (and first supermajor) at Genesis 9. Jmook took out iBDW in Grand Finals, and won from winners side, without dropping a single set. His victory included wins over SFAT (ranked 27th in the world), SFOP (rank 26), n0ne (rank 18), moky (rank 13), Plup (rank 8), iBDW (rank 4), and Zain (rank 1), among others.

This was not only a historic victory a Jmook himself, but also for his charater; Jmook's win at Genesis 9 marks the first time a solo Sheik main has ever won a supermajor, and the first time since Captain Jack at MLG San Francisco in 2004 that a solo sheik has won a major.

As a Sheik main myself, and as a graduate of Binghamton University, I take pride in Jmook's victory. While I was playing in Poker Club tournaments in college, he was playing local Melee events in the room next door.
