Unless a movie is part of a franchise. Most people always think that the original film is the best while subsequent films aren't as good. But are there any cases where you think the opposite? That a sequel is clearly better than the original?

For me, two movies come to mind and they both came out recently. A Quiet Place and Boss Baby. For A Quiet Place, I thought the story and worldbuilding were much better while I thought the story and humor were better for Boss Baby.

I can think of a couple examples so for starters I would argue The Empire Strikes Back is a lot better than A New Hope though I doubt I'm the only one who thinks so as I'm pretty sure I've heard it called one of the best movie sequels of all time. Another one that I think is better is Toy Story 2 I like the first Toy Story don't get me wrong but I find the 2nd one way more rewatchable and more enjoyable but that could be due to how many times I watched the 1st one when I was really little. I always feel like I'm forgetting more options when it comes to threads like this but I'm drawing a blank. :/
