I'm assuming you either have a chipped PS1, a PS1 boot disk or a developer model PS1?
If you don't then you won't be able to play any burnt games on it.
If you don't know what those terms mean just let me know.

Anyway, to continue.
To play a PS1 rom on the console you have to burn it to disk in a special way.
You have to burn it using disk image burning software like Alcohol 120% or imgburn
Alcohol 120% costs money while imgburn is free.

This software burns a PS1 rom as an image which basically means it burns the game nearly the same as it would have come on the original disk.
(unfortunately you can't burn exactly the same as an original, would be good if we could though)

If you use Alchohol 120% you just need to burn the image as a Playstation disk and you won't have to use any special settings, with imgburn you might need to change some settings but I don't know as I don't use it.

Hello DarkHyren!

Thanks so much for your reply! Yes I have a chipped PS1. But I didnt know if it was illegal to say it here hehe.

Okay thanks ! I'll just have to do a trial and error with that imgburn program you linked me!

I will update this thread with my findings as it could be of some help to other users. I have never felt more excited and commited to contribute to a website as I feel for this one! The admins are so dedicated to assisting their users and there is a general feeling of "goodwill" around here!

You've been a great help DarkHyren, thanks again!

EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hi again!

I have just downloaded crash team racing from the get-your-rom website, but the file is a .ecm file. Do I still burn it onto a cd as if it were a .img file?

Many thanks!
