Well, my last review was of the previous game, nights of Azure, PS4 Version, now, I'll review the Nintendo Switch version of the sequel Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon, because it'll be fun and...why not? Let's begin

Story: Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon has a better story than the previous game, I don't know if it's just me or the fact that I finished this game last year unlike the first game, but in my opinion the story of Nights of Azure 2 is more memorable and interesting than in the previous game. Aluche, the main character and a member of the Curia like Arnice in the first game, is tasked with protecting the Bride of Time, the Curia believes (and it's true) that the end of the world is near, but it can be avoided if the Moon Queen, the main antagonist of the game, receives the Bride of Time as a sacrifice. It turns out that the Bride of Time is none other than Liliana, one of Aluche's childhood friends (and possible love interest). Aluche is killed in battle by the Moon Queen herself and Liliana goes missing, Aluche, now revived as a half-demon, will have to find Liliana with the help of Ruenheid and Camilla before it's too late. There are other characters and, well, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon is a game that really makes you think about the story, on one hand, the Curia says that if the Bride of Time is offered to the Moon Queen as a sacrifice, she will lose her powers and/or the world will be saved, but on the other, there is another group (the Lourdes Order) that says that offering the Bride of Time as a sacrifice won't seal the Moon Queen's powers, and in fact It'll make her stronger, so...who is right? It really is a story that makes you think and at times, the game makes you say ''I want to see what happens next!''...it really is an interesting and memorable story, well written and with great and likeable characters. It's true that, like the previous game, and perhaps typical of Gust games, Nights of Azure 2 is a game that definitely takes itself seriously, at least to an extent, like pretty much every Japanese game with an emphasis on story however, the game is funny at least several times, and I really like that. I can appreciate a game with a dark and serious story, but also moments that can make the player laugh and/or are meant to be funny. The occasional suggestive dialogue and situations are a good thing on my book, if they are funny, of course.

Graphics: Night of Azure 2 has one of the strangest presentations I have ever seen in a video game, the game has a very strange presentation...how can a video game look so good and so bad at the same time? I don't know, but it's true. The 3D models, even on the Nintendo Switch, look really nice, they are at least almost on the same level as the 3D models in the PS4 version of the previous game, the water looks great, and the lighting effects are good, in fact, the differences in lighting are also reflected in the 3D models, which is a nice touch, there is also the use of specularity (I don't know if I used the word correctly, it's my first time using it...), which is, of course, something that contributes to the graphics with all those nice shiny surfaces and objects...however...the rest of the graphics can be really bad, there are a lot of textures that look very lowres or pixelated...those books in the hotel look like something from a Nintendo DS game, and considering that we are talking about a Nintendo Switch game here, that's really, really bad, often, even games developed by Compile Heart have better textures...as I said, the game has a very strange presentation, it looks amazing (more or less) but also very bad at the same time, I thought about giving this category a 7, but in the end, I decided to give this category an 8. Of course, the menus and 2D art look great, in any case, I could talk about games that, for their hardware or console they were developed for, don't have the best graphics...Rodea the Sky Soldier on Wii U, for example, it looks kind of bad, even for a Wii U game, but at least the game is consistent with its presentation and graphics, it's not a case of ''the 3D models, water, and lighting are great, but the textures and environments are very bad'' or something like that, unlike this game, most games have consistent presentations regardless if they look good or bad graphically, but this? Not exactly...Nights of Azure 2, in a way, looks interesting...

Sound: Another game developed by Gust with an amazing soundtrack, the first game had a fantastic soundtrack fitting for the game, and this game also has great music, ''Azure Memories'', ''El Viento'', ''Antiguo Monumento'', ''Dichromatic Flower''...all those songs are great, and they aren't even boss themes...the fact that the game has themes with titles/names in Spanish is something I like...I don't think it's a coincidence, ''el viento'' means ''the wind'', ''antiguo momumento'' means ''ancient monument''...it's interesting and I don't think it's a coincidence especially considering the context or details about the songs. Anyway, just like the previous game, Nights of Azure 2 doesn't have English audio, I don't like that fact, as always, but at least, at least...the voice acting is good, and it's better than the voice acting of other Japanese games...I think.

Addictive: It's an Action RPG just like the first game. There are differences compared to the previous game, instead of having a maximum of 4 Servans at a time, you can only have a maximum of 2 Servans at a time in this game, unlike Nights of Azure, in this game you are always being helped by another female character, the other characters, called ''Lilies'' in the context of combat, will help Aluche during combat in various ways, each ''Lily'', assuming I'm using the correct singular word, has different attacks and skills to help Aluche during combat. I don't mention anything about the controls because unlike the first game, the controls can be remapped in this game, which is good, Wayforward, take note. It's true, the remappable controls only apply to the gameplay itself, for the menus the controls can't be changed, but, even so, remappable controls are appreciated...actually, I really can say something about the controls...why in the menus the A button is used to go back or cancel a choice while the B button is used to confirm an option? That...is the opposite of pretty much every game released for a Nintendo console that uses A and B for the menus, as you can imagine, it takes a while to get used to, but once that happens, I'm programmed to use the B button to confirm a choice in the menus and then change to the A button for every other game on a Nintendo system that uses a similar scheme...as far as I know, the only other game that has the same control scheme for the menus is...the Nintendo Switch version of Our World Is Ended. I don't know if it's because I'm a fan of Action RPGs, but I really like this game, even though it's a repetitive game like many others.

Depth: Nights of Azure 2 has at least 2 different endings, the game is a shorter RPG than others, but if you want to see every ending and clear every quest...yeah, it's not the longest experience, but at the same time, there are shorter games.

Difficulty: It's an easy game. It's true, I didn't defeat the final boss on my first try, but for the most part, Nights of Azure 2 is an easy game. The game has 3 difficulty levels, maybe if you play it on the highest difficulty, the game is actually challenging, but, I don't know, I finished the game, I was playing on normal difficulty (I don't remember if that's how it's called in the game itself), and...I lost few times. Perhaps the hardest part was the boss of that DLC, but that machine shouldn't count because it's not part of the base game, it's a boss of free DLC, DLC that will disappear someday...the number of 5 might be fine for this category, even with the different levels of difficulty.

I really like Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon, the game has a better story than the first game, and the game is very fun to play. The changes make the game feel fresh, it's not a perfect game of course, but I recommend it, even if you have never played an Action RPG before. The lack of an English dub, the fact that the game suffers from slowdown, and the control scheme of the menus are things I don't like about the game, even so, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon is very fun in my opinion. The game was advertised for its fanservice, and yes, while it's true that Nights of Azure 2, in a way, might have even more fan service than the previous game, despite the fact that only the original Nights of Azure has ''Partial Nudity'' as one of its content descriptors, under the fanservice and barely-there swimsuits (which you can equip and the characters can wear them throughout most of the game if you so desire), there is a game worth playing.

LuckyCharms : Thanks, it's a lot of fun to write reviews for this site, as you might or might not know, I tend to write reviews of games like this one, Japanese games with fanservice (suggestive content), because it's fun but I also want to show that there is more to these games than just cleavage, panty shots, swimsuits, and all that stuff.

If you don't have a problem with fanservice, yuri (romance or love between girls), and a lack of English audio, I definitely recommend the Nights of Azure games, if you are interested, you can also check my other reviews.
