Drive Girls is another game I like but many people do not, not everyone likes this game and I can see why, more or less, I enjoy Drive Girls despite its flaws, and when it comes to PS Vita exclusives, this game is better than other games in my opinion, obviously this is another review of a game with fanservice, I'm the one who writes reviews of games with fanservice around here, of course other people have written reviews of...similar games to this one before, but I've written a lot of reviews of games where the fanservice is apparent or somewhat evident, perhaps more so than anyone else, I plan to continue writing reviews of these games, who knows for how much longer...I want to point out that in Europe this game got a PEGI 16 rating, that's a higher rating than T, and in fact it can be compared with an M rating, so...that's something to consider perhaps, as far as I know, the T rating that Drive Girls has is the lowest age rating that the game got in the world...interesting. Anyway, this is my review.

Story: The story of Drive Girls serves its purpose and not much else. In the beginning of the game, Lancier took a test in order to join the ERT (Emergency Response Team), she didn't pass the test, and as a result, she ends as the second member of the Drive Girls, which for a long time only had Regalith as a member, the Drive Girls work in a place called Sun Island/Sun Isle, where they'll fight against mechanical bugs that might actually represent a danger for the world if they aren't destroyed, and of course, there's a queen bug behind all the bugs, and she must be destroyed...that's pretty much everything, although it's true that other members join the Drive Girls, the game just doesn't have a lot of characters, it's not a bad story but it's not a good story either, and the same thing can be said for the characters, comparing the characters with other games, they aren't on the same level, although it's true that Regalith and Galaxa, if I remember well, have their own backstories, they still aren't the most interesting or developed characters, basically it's kind of like Omega Quintet, I admit I kind of like Lancier and Naviko as characters, but even so I can't deny that as characters they are only okay. The characters in Drive Girls might or might not be unoriginal characters, even so, a character can be a specific archetype (I don't usually use these terms) and still be a great character, I remember reading a review of a game in the Record of Agarest War series that said that, yes, the characters are archetypes but they play their archetypes very well...that doesn't apply to Drive Girls, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni has better characters and, of course, more and better character development, and even that game isn't on the same level as the Senran Kagura franchise when it comes to characters...anyway, overall the story and characters are okay...

Graphics: Like other games developed by Tamsoft Corporation, Drive Girls actually has great graphics, the 3D models look really nice and it's apparent that the game has better textures and environments than other PS Vita games, not everything looks nice of course, those tanker trucks look especially low-res for a PS Vita game, but for the most part, the 3D part of the game looks great, and it certainly looks better than other PS Vita games. The 2D art looks really nice as always, with character portraits that are a little animated and change expressions depending on the situation, the backgrounds are also detailed, obviously the 2D part of the game looks as good as the 3D part if not a little better, sadly, the game only has one CG image, apparently, still, I really like the 2D art, I don't know if that's partially because the character designs are actually a bit complex, but...yeah, there are better and more refined art styles out there, but I can't deny that I like the 2D art in this game.

Sound: Another game published by Aksys games that wasn't dubbed into English...it would be great if this game had an English dub, Galaxa, Naviko and Lancier in particular make me say that, the rest of the voices are fine I guess, the sound effects are fitting and I like the futuristic (maybe?) sound effects in the menus. The music was composed by Akihi Motoyama and Mutsumi Ishimura...it's not their best job for the most part, although it's true that the music is fitting for the game most songs are good at best, I admit that there are 3 or 4 themes that are in the category of ''I like this music more than I should'', I really like ''Duel'', ''Why...?'' and ''Shining Path'', ''Shining Path'' is very catchy in my opinion, but still, I really can't give this category an 8. More than anything else, I can't give this category an 8 because of the lack of an English dub, even though Aksys games has dubbed games into English before, and also, games developed by Tamsoft have been dubbed into English including but not limited to...Hyperdimension Neptunia U, Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online and Onechanbara Z2: Chaos...it's well known that I'm more of a dub person and the lack of an English dub is something I do not like.

Addictiveness: Here's the thing, if one asks the question ''Is Drive Girls a better game than Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed?'' The answer is...yes and no. Both Drive Girls and Hyperdimension Neptunia U are games developed by Tamsoft, the gameplay is also similar, so, the comparison makes sense. Drive Girls has more complex gameplay than Hyperdimension Neptunia U which perhaps makes it more fun. You have a button (square button) for normal attacks, and another button (triangle button) for other attacks that use the EP bar, you can press and hold the square button for a specific attack, something you can't really do in Hyperdimension Neptunia U, the EP bar fills up as you attack enemies and also, there's a gauge that also increases as you attack and destroy bugs, when it reaches a certain point said gauge can raise a number/counter from, for example, number 1 to number 2, and raising that number slightly increases attack and defense, you can raise the initial number (1) several times, the max number is 6, and when you reach that number, the playable character enters ''Overdrive'' mode, the character temporarily has twice attack and defense (''ATK/DEF X 2.0''), during ''Overdrive'', if the EP meter is at maximum, you can also press the L button to unleash a powerful attack that, yes, it can be more effective that just fighting normally during ''Overdrive'' depending on the situation, there's also the fact that you can press and hold the R button to transform into a car (D-Form), which you can also use to attack enemies...certainly, it's a lot of information, more or less, but believe me when I say that the gameplay has a lot of sense and it works really well once you play the game. The D-Form must also be used to complete certain missions dedicated to racing, which are a nice touch and personally, I like them, even though the maps used for the races aren't particularly varied, I still like them. The gameplay is kind of varied thanks to the two kinds of missions, and the Beat em up gameplay is a little complex but also somewhat deep. It's a great game when it comes to gameplay but it's not perfect, when there is a lot of action on-screen or things get intense, the game suffers from slowdown, it doesn't always happen and honestly, Drive Girls often runs at a playable framerate, but not always. and when the game suffers from slowdown, it kind of affects the experience actually, unlike other games (because let's be honest, slowdown is common in video games), another thing that must be mentioned is that Drive Girls has less playable characters than many other games, most other games developed by Tamsoft have more playable characters and Drive Girls...only has 5 playable characters. You can also use items during a mission (healing items for example) but the interface used to change items isn't exactly the best...the game has local and online multiplayer, which I've never used, a story mode, and not much else, after beating the game, there isn't much reason to come other than the fun gameplay...it's something, I guess...

Depth: As I said, there isn't much reason to come back after beating the game, the gameplay is really enjoyable and that makes me come back for more, I admit that raising the stats of the characters is something to do even after beating the game, but...yeah, the game is shorter than many other games, and it doesn't offer much.

Difficulty: It might just be me, but Drive Girls can be very difficult, the first missions are easy, but this is another of those games that gets harder as you continue, I lost many times throughout the game, the AI won't show mercy during certain missions, and that's...probably something to consider.

It's true that there is a lot to criticize about this game, but even so, I really like Drive Girls nonetheless, the slowdown, lack of game modes or extras, and the fact that the game doesn't offer an English dub, among other things, affect the appreciation of the game, but the great graphics, nice music, and above all fun and deep gameplay make up for it, depending on who you are, the fanservice is also a good aspect of the game, and yes, just like Hyperdimension Neptunia U (among many other games), there is clothing destruction in this game...I recommend Drive Girls.
