What is your favorite movie genre? Do you like comedies? Action movies? Or maybe you're a chick flick kind of person?

My taste in movies is very specific, and I'm not exactly sure what genre it would be. I like movies that blow your mind, that leave you thinking for hours after the movie has ended. The type of movie where you're confused most of the time, and only at the end do the pieces start to fall into place. I like movies that challenge you as a viewer. Some examples of this "genre" are movies like Interstellar, Donnie Darko, Se7en, Shutter Island, Memento, The Prestige, and Inception.

What kind of movies do you prefer?

I don't say that I really have a favorite genre but I guess I would go for a mix between action, adventure, and comedy. If you see my top 10 movies of the year lists, you wouldn't really be able to pick out any genre that stands out the most.

I guess I also like the dark and disturbing suspense movies to an extent if they are very well written.

I guess I'm more of a director kind of guy than a genre.

I like Christopher Nolan: Great storytelling, great use of emotions. Knows how to ground insane sci do stories in reality. Knows what music to use.

Examples: Interstellar, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Dunkirk.

Edgar Wright: Very unique style of cinematography that's fast paced, super witty, always uses the environment for color, lighting, and more.

Examples: Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Baby Driver, Hot Fuzz.

Guy Ritchie: Very good at giving us unique camera angles and shots. Very clever and witty writing. Insane graphics. Always very accurate with props and clothing from certain time pieces. Very good correlating visuals to music.

Examples: Sherlock Holmes, The Man From UNCLE, King Arthur Legend of the Sword

I most definitely gravitate towards fantasy, sci-fi, and animation. I like being taken to other worlds that show off imagination and creativity - the more detailed a fantasy or sci-fi world is, the better. My favorite movies of all time are the Star Wars movies, so there you have it. Why spend time on Earth when you can go to a galaxy far, far away?

LiselSolo: I'm not a fan of the genre as a whole because I feel too many scify movies become too cheesey and become breeding grounds for memes and cringe.

I do love Star Wars and Star Trek though, as well as Fifth Element and Valerian. But that's about it.
