NetHack is an old game originally made in 1985. It uses characters from a keyboard to create the envirement. (Note.You can also download tiles so you'll have pictures) Like so





I would have put this in the Web splurge but here is my point. This game is not multiplayer but is incredibly complex and its been over a decade in the making. Sooooo I think we should all go download this game (its like 2 megs) them play the game(its really fun) and then we can see who holds the record for the best Character!!!! Once your character dies in Nethack he is dead forever. If you save your game then the game exits. Upon dying the game will post all your wonderful stats. It will say what level you got to and what level your character was. Once you play it you can post your stats Here. Sooo lets see who is the ultimate RPG gamer on the oldest school rpg of all...cept zork.






You download it here. You should read the help files before playing. I would recommend using the map tiles if you are faint of heart.

You should try Robot Finds Kitten... It's pretty oldschool too. There's also a Java Version.
