Ways to earn and do things in Pokemon GO that Niantic may or may not have intended for you to do.

Choose Your Eevee Evolution

You can choose the evolution of your Eevee by clicking the pencil icon and renaming the Eevee to any of the following nicknames, depending on which evolution you want.

Pyro = Flareon
Sparky = Jolteon
Rainer = Vaporeon

Each account can only do this once per an evolution so it is advised that you do this when you're at a higher level to get the most out of this.

Fun Fact: Pyro, Sparky and Rainer were the names of the Eevee Brothers in the Pokemon anime series.

Pikachu as Your Starter

When you start a new game, you'll be given the option to choose either Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle. It is possible to get Pikachu instead by doing the following:
1. When the 3 Starter Pokemon appear for you to choose from, walk away from that area.
2. Repeat step 1 three times.
3. The 4th time that the Starters appear, Pikachu will be among them.

Fun Fact: This is in reference to the Pokemon anime series where Ash Ketchum gets a Pikachu instead of the other 3 starters. It's also a reference to Pokemon Yellow where you start out with a Pikachu instead.

Alternate Way to Revive

If you're completely out of revives or don't want to use one of your current, you can revive a Pokemon by powering them up. Their health will still be almost completely drained though so you'll want to use a potion on them at some point.

Stardust is far more precious than a revive so only do this in situations where you were already planning on leveling up a Pokemon or if you really don't have an Revives to spare.
