Zelda : The legend of Link ROM hack Zyphe_X
Hello, I'm Zyphe_X and this is my review of Zelda: The legend of link. A ROM hack of The legend of Zelda for the NES.
Over all (9.5)
So I spent around a week playing this ROM hack in an attempted completion. After much struggle I did manage to clear the game.
I felt it was well made for the most part besides some minor glitches and a little lag. The game was larger in scale then the original
The legend of Zelda as the over world map was custom made witch added some difficulty in navigation. This game defiantly deserves
to be played by Zelda fans as it presents the story of link before the happenings of The legend of Zelda.
Graphics (6)
I gave this ROM hack a 6 in graphics because it uses some custom sprites out side the other Zelda titles.
I also chose to rate it a little higher then the 4 I originally was going to give it simply because graphics are not the only thing that make
a game great.
Sounds (8)
I love the music of this game. It combines music from many of the Zelda games in to this one game. The over world, the dungeons, and even caves had different music. I've always enjoyed the music of the Zelda sires and to be able to hear many different tunes in one game was a treat for sure. So I give the sounds and music for this game an 8.
Addictiveness (8)
Anyone who has played a Zelda title should know how addictive they can be. This game is no different. I kept coming back to game
every day for around a week while trying to beat the game. I would get stuck and give up on it just to find myself playing it again within the same hour. So I give this ROM hack an 8 because you will keep you coming back to play it.
Story (4)
This game didn't have any real plot to follow other then that you play as link and need to destroy ganon. You don't even get told were to go just like the original Zelda, you just have to wander around until you find something. however there was one thing in the game that did help you find were you needed to go, the map. Once you buy the map from one of the many stores in the game you can hold the (A) button and it will show you the dungeon locations giving you something of a guide to follow. For this reason I gave the story a low 4, but don't let it stop you from playing this great game.
Depth (5)
I gave this game a 5 in depth because it felt like this was a story told before the first Zelda game. That this was the original Link, the hero who was chosen by the gods to be reborn threw out time when needed by the world. As I stated at the top, this game has a custom over world map. For that reason navigation can be very hard and some items are found on the over world rather then in the dungeons and finding your way to said items can be very hard due to road blocks and dead ends.
Difficulty (8)
THIS GAME IS HARD!! I had a lot of trouble playing this game on many different occasions. For the most part the game is fairly simple, that is until you can't find a specific item you might need in order to progress in the game. Many of the mobs are not that hard to take out, its mostly navigation and finding hidden items for the most part. The last dungeon in the fist half the game is very hard and the last dungeon of the second half is also very hard. So this is why I give this game a 8 in difficulty.
