Plumbers in Space!!   Itachi9695
In 1996, Mario fans were treated to his first 3-D platforming adventure, Super Mario 64, which set the bar for basically every 3-D platformer since. In 2002, they were given Super Mario Sunshine, which was, in my opinion, nowhere near the standard 64 set. In 2007, Nintendo released Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii, which was received very well by both critics and fans, and is often called the best 3-D Mario game ever. Does it deserve this prestigious title? Has 64 really met its 3-D match? Let's find out as we take a look at PLUMBERS IN SPACE...I mean Super Mario Galaxy.
Graphics
The graphics for this game really impressed me, especially considering this was released early on in the Wii's life-span. It's not realistic, but then again I don't think Mario games need to be, in fact it's a little on the "cartoony" side. I don't mean this in a bad way though, as I think this is the perfect way to approach Mario. It has enough texture in some cases that you can actually see Bowser's individual scales, or Mario's overalls denim texture.
Sound
I really like the music in this game, in fact it may be my favorite Mario soundtrack ever. I especially like the music in the Star Festival stage and Gusty Garden Galaxy. It's all very beautifully orchestrated and composed. I can't think of a single track in this game that I didn't like.
Addictiveness
It's Mario, enough said. But seriously, this game is rather hard for me to put down once I start playing, then when I do put it down, I want to pick it right back up. I am currently working on getting every star in the game, but I got most of them...before Nintendo replaced my Wii :(
Story
Most Mario games stick with the typical "Bowser kidnaps Peach, Mario rescues Peach, that's it." This game, however takes that story and adds a lot more. This time, Bowser kidnaps Peach so that she can see his "Galactic Empire". Mario is taken into space with them and is knocked out by a Magikoopa that I assume is Kamek. He is rescued by the Lumas, star children that live with their guardian, Rosalina. Rosalina explains that their observatory is low on power because Bowser has all the Grand Stars. Mario must collect all the Grand Stars in order to restore the observatory to its full power.
Depth
Like most Mario games, especially the 3-D ones, this game has a LOT of levels, or in this case, galaxies. Some of these galaxies only have one mission. These can range anywhere from Ray Surfing to rolling around on a ball. Most galaxies contain at least 3 Stars plus some hidden ones. There are 120 Stars in the game total, so prepare to sit down for quite a while.
Difficulty
Like most Mario games, once you get the hang of the controls, it's pretty easy. However, there are some sections that are out to absolutely destroy you be it a puzzle level or just a really hard platforming sections, but these all make for a good challenge and actually add fun to this already amazing game.
Gameplay/Controls
Again, not included in the actual scoring system here, but it really needs to be. The controls for this game are very smooth and easy to master. You can move Mario with the Control Stick and press the A button to jump. Aiming the Wiimote at the screen and pressing the B button will shoot a Star Bit, which can be used to knock out enemies or hit certain objects. Pressing the Z button makes Mario crouch, pressing Z while moving, then quickly pressing A will allow you to do the Long Jump. Simply jumping after pressing Z will allow Mario to do a back flip. And by the way, you can move while crouching, it actually looks pretty funny. Shaking the Wiimote or Nunchuck will make Mario spin, enabling him to break certain objects or flip over certain enemies. In all essentials, take 64's controls and enhance them about 10 times over and you've got Galaxy's controls.
Overall
Overall, I think this is definitely one of the best Mario games out there, if you're looking for a game to play on your Wii that you can play for hours, this game is perfect for you. With the best control I've ever known in a 3-D Mario game, an actually somewhat in-depth story, and one of the greatest soundtracks in video game history, I'm not afraid to give this game a 9.5 out of 10. Now if only I could get Galaxy 2... Well until next time, this is Itachi9695 and I'll see you later, maybe a Skyward Sword review...yeah that sounds good. Peace out.

*pun about reviews and space*   ender44
Something horrible happened today. My super Mario galaxy disk, after being dropped, clawed by a cat, and accidentally left out by my relatives, finally succumbed to its wounds and gave its final breath. I say this because this game did something that few games can do. I had so much fun playing it, that it literally meant a lot to me. This game is the best Mario game I have played, and it is even one of the best games I have ever played. This game took stride with games like "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" in that it was a revolution for the series, and the fans LOVED it. This game is one of few, and I mean few, games that have ever surpassed Ocarina of Time in ratings. This game is just that good. Super Mario Galaxy was released in 2007 by (you guessed it) Nintendo and has had fantastic ratings among critics, some went as far as to call it one of the best games of all time.
Game play: The best part of this game by far. The mechanics of the Mario series are taken to a whole new level in this game. This game makes use of "Sphere-walking" which is used in games like twilight princess in the goron mines. "Sphere-walking" is basically walking around a sphere and staying on it through some sort of game mechanic. Mario has many more power-ups than in the other games. Power-ups like the fire flower, the mushroom,  the one up mushroom, and the star are here, but new power-ups like the freeze flower, the bee and ghost mushroom, and a spring have appeared.
Mario uses gravity to his advantage as he travels all over large and small planets. The player will use the will nunchuck's joystick to move around, and he will use the wii mote to move a cursor around and collect star bits. By using the B button the player can fire a star bit at an enemy or at a luna, Mario will use star bits to get lunas to transform throughout the game. The player can use the wii mote's D-Pad to move the camera around Mario. As in nearly every single Mario game to ever exist, A is jump.
Graphics: I will break this down in a few categories so this review will be easily followed.
Cut-scenes: The cut-scenes are impressive, but not too impressive. The characters all look really good, but the environments around the character models aren't too much. I get that its just space, but they could put much more in the background to make all of these cut-scenes look better. Good, but could be better.
Character models: The character models in the cutscenes look fine. The enemies in the game have creative figures, animate very well, and look about as well as the main characters.
Environments: This is the strongest point of the graphics. It is the best looking hub-world I've seen in a Mario game, minus Delfino Plaza. It has some garden areas that look well, and I wish it was larger. The different galaxies took my breath away, they looked so fantastic that I couldn't believe it. They make use of different environments and themes for each, and they all look fantastic. I think the ones that take place only in deep space should have had more around them to make things look better. I think they were trying to go for ominous isolation like in the Portal series, but if that was what they were going for, it wasn't executed well.
Sound: I really think the sound was used perfectly for this game. The bosses all have epic tunes for you to fight to, and each different level has its own theme. These were all very well done, as they all fight the theme for each galaxy rather well. While you are soaring through space you get a nice tune that makes you feel like an explorer.
Addictiveness: This game kept me hooked, more hooked than I can be proud of. Each new galaxy offered more fun and challenges for me to see. This game was incredibly fun, and I would be playing it now if I didn't have a staff role and if it wasn't broken. I had more fun on this game than on most of the other games I have played, and it certainly is the best wii game I've played. I know that it will have a spell on you.
Story: There is a festival every hundred years to celebrate the landing of a comet. Mario is going to see Peach (of course, she made him a cake) and then Bowser crashes the party. Bowser summons a UFO to kidnap Peach as he destroys the castle town. Mario is then catapulted to a small planet where he meets Rosalina. Rosalina is a main character, and she runs the observatory that serves as the hub-world. Mario then collects power stars and grand stars, fighting various bosses that include Bowser Jr. This eventually ends with Mario fighting Bowser and Bowser falling into a burning planet.
Depth: This game has tons of galaxies that you can visit, each galaxy has a certain amount of levels that have you in it. There are numerous power-ups that Mario uses to help him traverse the galaxy. Each galaxy ends in a boss fight, the boss fights are very inventive and they are a ton of fun. This game took me over 30 hours to complete, and it was a great 30+ hours.
Difficulty: If you are looking for difficulty, I wouldn't look for it in a Mario game. This game certainly had some levels where I died a few times, but it was no real challenge to me, and I don't think it will be for you. The boss battles are actually easier than the levels before them, and the point of a boss fight is a challenge.
Overall, this is the best Mario game I have played, and I would recommend it to anybody who has a Nintendo wii.

super mario galaxy review   austipokedude
Super mario galaxy was released in 2007 for the nintendo wii it is the the prequel to super mario galaxy 2.This game is possibly one of the best wii games out there.Super mario galaxy is a 3-D platformer actually the third mario 3-D platformer developed.Super mario galaxy got many high review scores.SO lets get started.
Graphics:Super mario galaxy had stunning visuals and looked great they improved the graphics upon every release this game had by far the best graphics in the series so good the graphics can"t get any better.
Sound:the music was great it was not annoying or bad but outstanding. This game soundtrack was well thought out and put together very nicely.
addictiveness:Alot of the missions were really fun and worth playing again there were plenty of missions to give you hours of entertainment even when you collected all the stars you could have played super luigi galaxy which many luigi fans enjoyed
story:well here is the story mario was heading to peach castle but until bowser ships came mario attempts to save her but fails then mario wakes up and finds he is on a grassy planet to find three sar bunnies who promise to tell him where is he at if mario catches all three of them they then tell you to talk to rosalina who tells mario bowser has stolen six grand stars that is all im gonna tell in my opinion it was well thought out.
depth:as I mentioned before there are plenty of stars and even when you collect them all you still got super luigi galaxy which as I also mentioned before many luigi fans enjoyed it.
difficulty:Not hard or to easy but it leans over to the easy side a little bit more the bosses were easy but got harder as you progressed through the game as every mario game does the bosses were pretty obvious so you wouldnt get stuck on a boss.
here are the scores

Time to review the galaxy well the mario 1   SuperCrash64
Super Mario galaxy a well done game that I really happen to own and enjoy for the Nintendo Wii console  I had been waiting to bust out my opinion on this classic but I just had not thought of the right stuff to say. So without a further ado welcome to my review of Super Mario galaxy.
Background story This is the beginning of a great but short franchise the Mario galaxy series It was pretty great for the time being but it sadly only had 2 games The 2nd 1 I will review the 2nd game if I get it and spend some time playing it and finishing it. Anyways yea this a pretty nice game.
Plot The plot of this game is Pretty similar to some that might say to Super Mario 64 in some aspects In that case I would say yes it is because Like Super Mario 64 you collect a lot of Stars and defeat the boss even though that game ant really comparable because its older than Super Mario galaxy still the plot is similar in aspects moving on.
Graphics
Graphically this game is Pretty dang stunning considering the Wii system aspects. Everything is pretty sharp and crispy and looking fresh in 3d style. Sprites The Mario Characters are a bit cartoonist but that's sort of the way they always been even with the newer Mario games getting released. I really like the sharp style of the game even with the blurry resolution that the standard composite cables included with the Wii console. They still look great  sharp crispy with a cartoonist style in 3d. Animation Pretty smooth if I say so myself  All characters are looking quite well with their animations and pretty fluid. Stages I like the stages in the game they have some pretty nice and well detailing finish that makes the game have a not so Plan unfinished look to it. It also defines the title of the game well too. Graphics rating -10 I like the big finish of the stages and how well everything looks really well done considering The original Wii Graphics was not as strong as a Xbox 360 or Ps3 .
Sound
All classic Mario sounds and everything reach their usual standards As jump coin mushroom extra life and some voice samples are all here and sounding pretty good 1 thing I wanna note is that some sound effects may come from the Wii remotes speaker thing . Soundtrack A bit of nostalgia you may find in here. While most soundtracks are new and sounding great and have some neat composition to them.note Some sound issues may happen depending on what Wii cables you are using. The reason I say a bit of nostalgia is because Nintendo directly sampled The Super Mario 64 Bowser level theme not boss fight theme. And putted it on here 100 percent the same. Sound rating 10 pretty good and everything usually meets the rather Mario standards. As a matter of fact if you picked up the Black original new super Mario bros Wii game and Wii console bundle you may get a cd where you could listen to all the neat soundtracks this game offers. It was either this one or Mario galaxy 2 I can,t exactly remember
Addictiveness  I really enjoyed playing this game for the Fun adventure and the playable stuff and what not. How often I would play this. Probably about a couple of days Because each couple of days I would go none stop trying to finish the game at least until my Wii remote battery needed to be recharged:P can,t tell you how many times that annoyed me. Anyways addictiveness rating 9
Story. At last the Star festival Is happening It was a traditional thing for the entire mushroom kingdom to watch Because it only happens in a 1000 years. So some parts like and unlike Super Mario 64 Peach sends Mario a letter to come join her and toads to watch the Festival happen. So once you get to the castle Bowser does his usual fiend things "aka" invade the Kingdom and Steal peach. You might think that's his only plan..right? Well think again  he stole star power once again But this time grand Stars are included. Bowser came and somehow Invaded The Star dome I believe that's what the place is called. He knocked out Rosalina and her star children  And Stole the Grand stars For the sole purpose of changing the galaxy to his own evil disaster. How does Mario end up their. Simple Bowser shot him while trying to send Mario in to endless space and he landed or got in there by Rosalina. So that's your main storyline.Rating for the story 8 pretty nice epic and clean just really a good storyline here
Depth Quite frankly how long the game is Depends on how well you play the game and other stuff too. I would go as far as saying it last just a little bit longer then super Mario 64 . You still have to earn at least 70 stars as well as all the grand stars as well. Depth rating 7 pretty long game. 1 extra feature If you unlock 120 stars I believe you can play as Luigi in the level modes.
Difficulty.  Some pretty crazy parts in levels  This game is pretty hard for me and that's do to the later on Star router that makes the levels harder. I had to go through challenge's like beat the big mole while having 1 percent of life. Some of those challenges get pretty wacky and hard ya know. As for the races The computer opponent  gets a bit unfair because you have enemies coming at you other stuff too. And the Computer has the track perfectly memorized. Tip For that is what I did to beat the computer foe on that race is Constantly Do a yahoo jump to quickly outrun him that tip will come in handy for some parts of the blue Mario race but not all of them. And some of the stages mainly the Bowser 1s get tricky paths that always took me some time to figure out. Controls work well with  the Wii remote and nunchuk The nunchuk does the moving around. Wii remote does the flying jumping and other stuff. Difficulty rating 8
Overall Super Mario Galaxy is worth a 1 day purchase for trying that's if you want to try it out for yourself. Or buy it  Its a pretty nice launch title a good Mario title I really enjoyed

Somebody help I can't breathe!!!   Lexatom
Super Mario Galaxy is the first main series Mario game that was released for the Nintendo Wii on November 1, 2007. It is seen as one of the best games of all time, and has sold millions of copies. So, does this game really get the praise it deserves in my book? Let's get on to the review and find out.
Graphics- 9
The graphics in Super Mario Galaxy are, to put it in simple wording, spectacular for both 2007 and the Wii. The Wii's graphics are sometimes seen as inferior to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but Super Mario Galaxy proves that it's not impossible to make games on the Wii look amazing.
Sound - 10
Something Super Mario Galaxy did that no other Mario game did (besides the space and gravity, and everything else...) is to have a fully orchestrated soundtrack, and, surprisingly, it works. A lot of people, including myself, regard this soundtrack as one of the best in the series. Some notable songs are Gusty Garden Galaxy, Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, and of course, the final boss music. All of the songs in this game are truly magical, as this game is.
Addictiveness - 8
This is a Mario game, so naturally, you'd probably be wanting to come back for more. Just like the games before this one, there were multiple Stars/Shines you could obtain in each level. This game is no different, although I find that there are only about 4 stars in each level. 3 normal stars, and 1 secret star. Still, that's only a minor complaint. You can more stars in each level from the different types of comets in the game, so I guess that makes up for it.
Story - 9
Again, it's a Mario game. The usual story is that the princess gets kidnapped and you have to save her. This game uses it more effectively, though. The way Bowser kidnaps the princess in the intro immediately tells you that this is going to be a great game. There's also more of a reason for Bowser to collect the Stars. He wants to rule the galaxy with them. Although not much different from Super Mario 64, it explains Bowser's motive more than Super Mario 64 did. Also with the addition of Rosalina and the Lumas, the story gets deeper with their introduction and backstory, which you can find out about by unlocking chapters in the storybook.
Depth - 9
Like I said before, this game has lots of depth. There are a total of 120 Stars to collect in this game, some easy, some very difficult. It all depends on which Star you choose to try and go for, and the galaxy in which the Star is being held. Not much else can be said for this section.
Difficulty - 8
Similar to the above category, this game can either be very easy or very hard, depending on which galaxy and Star you chose. In similar fashion to the levels in the game, the bosses can be either easy or hard depending on the mission you chose. The controls are very smooth and they work well with this game. The only problem I have is the motion control segments. I really like collecting star bits with the Wii Remote, though.
Overall - 9.4
Overall, as I've stated many, many times in this review before, this is an amazing game. A lot of people love it, and to be quite honest, I have never heard a person say they don't like this game. This is my favorite Mario game of all time, and it deserves to be so. I still hope Nintendo makes a Super Mario Galaxy 3, eventually.....

Super Mario Galaxy - A Cosmic Adventure   Mario0908
Super Mario Galaxy was the first game I had for my Wii. I got this game for my birthday along with my Wii. It was a very fun but difficult game. There was a lot to do this game and I liked it a lot.
I think the graphics in this game are amazing. You're traveling through space so obviously Nintendo used the Wii to it's best potential. You get to travel to a lot of different planets and the designs you see is amazing. One thing I can definitely say looks really cool is the star bits raining down onto the planets. I also like the design for the black holes that you get sucked into when you die.
The sound in this game is good. The music for Gusty Garden is a really good one from what I've heard. I like it, but I feel that it's not the best music. It is still good, but I really like the music for a purple comet. I find it good because it makes me feel like I'm actually running around space somehow. I had to listen to this song a hundred times trying to collect the purple coins in Toy Time Galaxy. Another one that I heard and thought was really good was the Buoy Base Galaxy music. It makes me feel inspired. There's a lot of good music in Super Mario Galaxy.
This game is not super addicting, but it is hard to stop playing. This is an adventure type game and it's really long. I don't exactly like these types of games. However, I found this game really fun. Sometimes the difficulty gets to you and you get so aggravated that you just stop playing. Sometimes I just don't want to play this game though. I will play this game a lot though when I'm on a roll and I get a lot done. Otherwise I find this game easy to walk away from.
This game has a bigger story than usual. The Star Festival has come to the Mushroom Kingdom. The Star Festival occurs every one hundred years. So the princess sends Mario a letter inviting him to the Star Festival, saying she has something to give him. So Mario makes his way to the castle. Of course, Bowser has to interfere and take the whole castle off the ground (just like in Paper Mario). Mario is standing on the bridge of the castle. Then Kamek comes and knocks him off with his magic. Instead of falling back down to earth, Mario lands on another planet and he meets bunnies. The bunnies say they want to play hide and seek with him. After finding the bunnies, you are introduced to Rosalina who tells you all about what has just happened. She also gives you a Luma who gives you the power to spin so you can attack and travel. Then you must collect power stars and grand stars to power the observatory and save you special one.
This game is big. There are 120 stars to collect. Some are very difficult, making this game take longer to complete. You get to discover new galaxies and there is so much to it that I actually don't know what to say. There are new power-ups you get to use. It's all different so there's a lot more to it than normal.
This game is difficult. There were two stars I was never able to get. One was a hidden star in some galaxy in the Engine Room. The other was the purple comet in Toy Time Galaxy. Luigi's Purple Coins was the mission that had to ask someone for help. I was never able to complete this mission. You had to long jump across rotating platforms, I always missed a few coins and had to jump back hopefully landing on and running off the rotating platform. I never did it once. Then there's a few points where you have to jump off to get about six coins and then spin and go back onto the same platform you jumped off of. This is why I was never able to do this mission. It was so hard.
Before I end this review, I'm making my own category titled game play and controls. I'm doing this because a lot of the comments I get say I don't talk enough about how the game works and stuff. So here it is for you guys.
This game used a lot of each thing for the Wii. It was one of the first games for the Wii so it used the nunchuck and the motion sensor bar. They made it work so that if you shake the Wii Remote, Mario will spin and it would break open boxes and stuff. I think that it worked really well like that. Also, they used the motion sensor bar a lot. When you point at the screen, a star is there. It collects star bits without you even needing to walk up to them. Then they had things called pull stars. When you have your pointer on the pull star and you press A, Mario will get pulled up to the star. Also, they use the motion sensor bar so you can point the Wii Remote at it and select missions, select yes or no and other things.
That's all I have to say about Super Mario Galaxy. The first Wii Game I owned and one of the best Wii games I own.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
