The Metroid Prime Trilogy Part 1: Metroid Prime: AWESOMENESS!!!   mariosonic123
Hello and welcome to a new review!
This time the next 3 reviews will be all about the Metroid Prime Trilogy: A
re-release of the original console versions of Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2:
Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Each with Wii Remote controls as well
as a 16:9 aspect ratio, and other stuff like blooming effects. I'll get into
more about the graphics later in this review. In the meantime, about this game.
The first 3d installment of the Metroid series ever since Super Metroid.
However, it was bashed repeatedly because of the first person approach. But, as
soon as it has released, all those negativity has been neutralized and in its
place, was pure joy INCARNATE!!! It was that good, or was it?! That's what I'm
here to find out. WARNING: There can and will be spoilers in this review. So,
if you don't want your experience spoiled; I SUGGEST YOU STOP READING RIGHT NOW
AND PLAY THE GAME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! It's 20$ on the E-shop anyways.
Story: 10 (This is great stuff!)
Oh, the story! It begins when Samus
discovers a distress beacon coming from a Frigate in orbit above Tallon IV.
Samus decides to check it out and five seconds after entering, we find out that
this frigate belongs to the Space Pirates. What were they doing in there? Biological
experiments on the inhabitants---that went horribly wrong! This releases some
parasites all around the ship. Samus takes out their leader, the queen
parasite. This prompts the ship to activate self destruct, and upon escaping,
she comes across a ressurected Ridley with metal prosthetics. Joy! Ridley
leaves the ship onto Tallon IV with Samus giving chase. Upon landing, we find
that the Chozo once lived here and went extinct here because of the
"Worm" and a "Great Poison". We find out that this
"Great Poison" is known as Phazon and it has the ability to mutate
whatever it touches. Yay.... And the "Worm" happens to be the source
of all of it. The space pirates are experimenting on this otherworldly
substance to boost their army, Metroids included. Awesome.... Samus now has to
put a stop to the Space Pirates as well as this "Great Poison". The
story is REALLY good, and it's littered with optional text from both the Chozo
and the Space Pirates and it's a good read!
Gameplay: 9 (Awesome!!!)
Oh, where do I start? Well, the
game is played in the first person, so, awesome! Samus is just like she was in
Super Metroid. You can move with the Control Stick, turn with pointing the Wii
Remote left and right, aim by pointing the Wii Remote period, shooting with A, jumping
with B, Morph Ball with C, A lock on system with Z, Missiles are D-pad down, as
well as some other stuff. This control scheme works well and you can invert
some of the controls as well. Now for the upgrades, at the very beginning of
the game, you are given the Varia  Suit,
Morph Ball, Morph Ball Bomb, Power Beam, Charge Beam, and the Grapple Beam.
However an explosion in the frigate took away all your stuff except the Power
Suit, and Power Beam. Isn't that ANNOYING??!!! Now you have to get all your stuff
back... Yay... THE POWER OF A CUTSCENE, EVEN THOUGH THAT'S REALLY UNFAIR!!!
Returning from Super Metroid are the Stuff that you start of with as well as
the Wave Beam (Beam are now treated as separate weapons, Nice! Shoots
Electricity), Ice Beam (Shotgun like firing rate and power), Plasma Beam (I
SHOOT FIRE!!!), Varia Suit (Protection from Heat), Gravity Suit (Let's you move
freely through water!), Nerfed Spider Ball ( Can only attach onto magnetic
rails only, Awww), Nerfed Space Jump (Now a Double Jump, could you imagine a
classic working Space Jump in a 3d game? It'd be game breaking!), Power Bomb
(Get ready for a HUGE EXPLOSION!!!!), and finally, no ScrewAttack... (Aw....)
New toys to play with includes different visors! Scan Visor (Let's you scan things
for how to defeat enemies and bosses, scan for lore and info, etc.), Thermal
Visor (Let's you see in the dark and track heat signatures!), and finally the
X-ray visor (Self-explanatory). Now, for new upgrades. Boost Ball (you can
super fast in Morph Ball mode!), Phazon Suit (Immune to blue phazon! It's also
black and that's cool!). Now for the depth and structure....
Depth: 8, Difficulty: 4-7, and Structure: 10 (Metroid!!!!)
The game is structured exactly like
Super Metroid. It's open world, you need to go from one area to the next,
Elevators and Save Stations, and to further explore the game would require a
specific upgrade. Not only that, the Scan Visor will tell you where to go next
after a while just in case you were completely lost. Awesome! There are lots of
missile expansions, and energy tanks to look out for, and the game rewards you
for being very curious. The game also has its difficult moments, but for the
most part, the difficulty is very gradual and nothing special, for the most
part. I won’t spoil the Chozo Artifact part, but you can’t find them all
without a guide… Sad, I know… There is backtracking though, so be prepared…
Finally, the game is really big for GameCube standards, so this game will last
you a few weeks, extra if you’re trying to get 100% with the logbook, missile
expansions, and energy tanks.
Graphics: 9 (BEAUTIFUL!)

 I have
gotta say, this game is gorgeous! This version of the power suit looks well
translated into 3d although bulky it is. The areas has their own feel to it,
thus making the game atmospheric at some points. Since the Trilogy edition adds
blooming effects, and new shaders to give this section of the review bonus
points, the original definitely has its problems with the graphics. Don’t get
me wrong, The game still looks really good for GameCube standards, except the
original was too dark and you can barely see anything at times, and to be
honest, it makes the game a little bit dated. On the Wii U re-release of the
Trilogy however; Of course, the game was remastered into 1080p FullHD. It makes
the game even more awesome at times, and a bit more dated at times, you can
especially see that in the cursor. But I’m willing to forgive it, because it
WAS developed for the Wii, and NOT the WiiU, and like I said, I’m willing to
forgive that. Moving on, now!
Sound: 8-10 (Atmospheric.)

 Now, I
know what Retro Studios was going for in terms of the soundtrack. It was 3d, so
it needs to be more atmospheric. For the most part, it works! The music
emphasizes the tone of the area you’re in PERFECTLY. Some of em was really
awesome soundtracks, especially the one for the Menu Select and Tallon
Overworld Depths. The only complaint is that there needs to be a bit more
catchy music, like in Super Metroid, and that the atmospheric tracks can get
really boring after awhile, but no complaints.
Verdict: 9.9/10 (Fantastic!)

 It was
SO close to getting a perfect 10, but it was just THAT good. It is now a
classic, and was very highly regarded by fans and gamers alike as the best Metroid
game since Super Metroid. If Retro Studios will go back to the Prime series,
and make a sequel to this awesome game. That’d be great, oh wait! This is
mariosonic123 with another AWESOME review after a LONG hiatus. Next time, I
will review Metroid Prime 2: Echoes as soon as I beat it. *big inhale, big
exhale* In the meantime thank you for reading this review and goodbye.

Prime time.   yoshirulez!

For those who are fond of such FPS games, This is like no other.. Originally introduced in a video at E3, Metroid prime evolved into a new species of FPS games. A mix of puzzles, platforms, And stuff to shoot, This is by far better than any other FPS game I've ever played. Interstellar Galactic bounty hunter Samus aran has to save another world from Destruction. The great poison lies inside the Impact crater, Where you must fight Metroid prime... The creepiest ugly bug you've ever seen. Ridley has returned once again, But as a new foe... Meta-ridley. He has turned himself into metal.. Which kind of reminds me of Clockwerk from Sly cooper and the thevious racoonus, Which a thief despises the Cooper family so he turned himself into metal to live forever... Bat that's another story entirely so let's get back to the review..

Graphics: 10. The amazingly smooth graphics will shock you when you first see it. How everything comes together in such an aurora of colors and beauty... The extremely detailed worlds... The Detail of each and every enemy is perfect, not a thing you can do bro. I think it's at it's best. if this were build for something such as ps2 (which obviously wouldn't happen because metroid is nintendo) Then the graphics would suck. Just look at the difference of Resident evil 4 for Gamecube, And resident evil 4 for ps2. Huge difference. Which is why it was genius to put it on the Nintendo gamecube platform.

Sound: 9. The sound is very good, Each individually wrapped enemy and blaster sounds. Are unique I'll give it that, But i think they could've done better. Again, Look at resident evil 4, The sounds of screaming demented villagers, The different sounds of each gun, The lightning, The voices, The Shattering sound of vases being shot, Very detailed, whereas this game has.... practically none of that. But I'll give it a 9 because it sounds sorta good. it's better than the other games I play such as Sonic and knuckles or The legend of zelda, Minish cap. They did pretty good on this i suppose.

Music: 4. It's not very good... i mean, the chanting inside the Magmoor caverns is pretty cool, But it's nothing compared to the music in The legend of zelda, The wind waker. I'll give it a 4 because the chanting reminds me of the chantings i used to hear in Ocarina of time, Which i lost somewhere inside my storage shed. When it rains it pours, and i'm being drowned. But hey, At least it actually has music.

Addictiveness, 10. This game is so freaking addictive, It's like the best thing since sliced toast. What with the shooting and the exploding and the rolling and the bombing and the scanning and the looking through walls with the x-ray visor, and the whole thing with searching for the chozo artifacts. and the collecting of the energy tanks and the missile things... It's really addictive which is why i game it a 10. Perfect ten is a win.

Story: 7. There's really not much to see, But what there is, is awesome. The story is, You were looking for ridley, and you found this crashed space station thingy full of half dead space pirates, and then you like, found this giant parasite, and you kill it, and then you like, run for your life because the place is exploding, and then you find meta-ridley, and he flies away, and then you go down to Tallon IV to look for him. That's all i'm gonna spoil though. you really should play it to find out the rest.

Depth: 10. Lots to do. Not sayin its easy or anything but theres lots to do like search for upgrades and stuff. and if you get 100% game completion you get an alternate ending scene thingy. Or you can go around exploring places and try to glitch this game, Which I've been trying to since I got the game. I try to glitch any game i can really. which i have not been able to do yet, which clearly points out this game is near seamless. Which is a good thing to people who don't wanna glitch stuff. Unlike me.

Difficulty: 10. Seriously mega super hyper hard. Like, you lose like a whole lot of health from just one shot. And in hard mode, Everything has twice as much health. I'm stuck in the stupid phazon mines trying to get past ultra hard space pirates with only about 6 or 7 hundred health. You bet your hide this game will kill you, like seriously, Good luck beating it on hard man.

Overall: 10. Yeah, the story being like that, and the graphics being that smooth, and the sound and the music being like that, and all that other stuff and a bag of chips. It's beast. Like DIG IT WHOO! beast. yeah.
