I would say that the similarities are only that Christianity seems to be going the way of paganism, in that educated people do not take either one seriously.

That is a pretty offensive statement, but it has some truth to it. Of course I know there are exceptions to everything, and there are very educated Christians, but by and large, the more education you have, the less religious you tend to be.

Have we not realized that throwing money at the educational system does not work? The highest federally funded schools are the inner city ones, yet they do the poorest. This is an institutional problem where teachers are not held responsible for not doing a good job, and kids are also not held responsible for doing a good job in school. We need to get serious about education in the sense that we will punish you if you are a detriment to others education, and we will fire you if you dont do a good job teaching.

I would be ok with cutting military spending, but we would have to be really efficient in a governmental area, and that just doesn't happen in large bureaucracies. This is an idealogical difference between conservatives and liberals; conservatives want a large military to protect the US and other countries, and liberals do not. I dont feel that an isolationist policy is very safe, and could we really do that in good conscience knowing what goes on around the world?

Keynesian economics are theft, pure and simple. It is not the governments role to play with economics, which is pseudo-science at best. We dont fully know what effect that has on the economy, and is dangerous to do. Bush II was a big proponent of Keynesian economics, and that has done us a lot of good. It's too risky, lets shrink the government and let people live their own lives.

Elara, as much as you accuse people of being uneducated, you sure pack some uneducated wollop in your posts. The democrats still control the Senate, its the House that the republicans control.

And let me ask you, do you want this country to exist in 10 years? Because at the rate democrats are going, it wont be there, at least in the fashion you know. We are 11 trillion+ in debt, and it is climbing under President Obama. His proposed budget was 3.73 trillion, which adds to the debt. He claims that eventually his policies will curb that, but only if you re-elect him! Oh, ok. We'll do as you say. Thank you sir, may I have another! Thank you sir, may I have another! That is what we are saying by electing progressive liberals to office, they run up the debt because they believe in something called Keynesian economics, look it up. Keynesian economics says that when the economy is doing poorly, the government should spend more to spur the economy. It has never been proven to work, and is just a theory, yet they want to risk the future of our economy on it?

I'm not a fan of republicans either, I vote libertarian, if you're familiar with it. Dont vote for either of the main parties, they are liars and both will spend us into oblivion. If you want America to continue as a free and prosperous nation, we must cut spending drastically, while also raising taxes across the board for a short time to bring our debt under control. You wont want to live here when foreign countries no longer accept our dollars because we've defaulted on our debt for too long.

There is nothing wrong with it, if the car companies choose to do it on there own to better compete in a market where MPG is important. But the president is forcing companies to increase it, giving us less choice on the type of car we'd like to buy.

What makes you think republicans are for the rich? The rhetoric of democrats brainwashing you into believing it? It's sad that they've been so successful at doing that. Wanting lower taxes benefits everyone, not just the rich. And dont believe that corporations are not paying their fair share because of loop holes, thats pure fabrication.

Glyphomancer is spot on. People seem uncomfortable after a certain date aborting fetuses. Is there a difference enough from one day to the next to be able to decide to end the life? Once the unique genetic code is created, you have a stage of humanity. We go through many stages where cell replication happens at different speeds, like infancy, pre-adolescence, adolescence, adulthood, and old age.

The self-aware argument is fallacious too. A newborn is not self aware, so how do you feel about infanticide? Science is showing more and more the mistakes we have made allowing abortion, but the left wants to hide this info, and the right does a poor job of showing it, instead opting for the religious argument. Lets not take chances when it comes to human life, fair enough?

I think it's very likely he gets re-elected, because the republicans dont have any good candidates to run against him. Are you seriously going to vote for Sarah Palin?

I'm about about as anti-Obama as you can get, I'm a libertarian, but I dont think it's realistic to think he wont get re-elected.

And Stikk, I clicked through a bunch of things on the site you posted, and I disagreed with all of them. I didn't like that he did those things, such as repealing bans on stem cells, increasing the required MPG on cars, developing the stimulus package, increasing minorities access to capital, etc.

Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the site as of today. I discovered the site when trying to find a way to watch the old 90's X-Men cartoons, and I discovered this awesome site. What a great find! Tons of amazing cartoons, bunches of great old games, and a pretty good community it seems as well. I'm pretty happy to have found a cool new site to hang out it, I was beginning to think I'd done most everything on the internet. Kudos Davideo7 on a great site, congrats on the traffic you've received for making it well, and hello again to everyone here.
