Aiden and Hawthorne Heights are not punk by any means and its KURT Cobain,not Kirk.It irritates me that Green Day is always the default because while I love them they've really evolved from a punk band to mr of an arena rock kinda thing which is awesome but not punk by any means. Whoever you guys are that said Ian Mackaye, The Casualties,Iggy Pop,Patti Smith,Refused and Screeching Weasel I f***ing love you all lol

Definitely Cannibal Girl or really any song by Cult of The Psychic Fetus. Nothing suits slaughtering the undead like chillingly spooky gothabilly rock n roll that sounds like a bunch of dudes from a surf rock band decided to join up with Elivs Presley and Roy Orbison to start a Goth band .

I think I should make the dsiclaimer right now. By Punk I mean GENUINE PUNK ROCK GROUPS OR ARTISTS. None of that sceney weenie emo bullcrap they play on fuse or MTV(even thoght MTV doesn't really seem to care about music anymore. Ironic isn't it? )

Anyway to kick things off I guess I'll start with mine. It's tough to say because frankly I have four main heroes within the genre: Darby Crash of The Germs, Sid Vicious of The Sex Pistols,Joey Ramone of The Ramones, and Justin Sane of Anti-Flag. To me those four artists are physical manifestations the true spirit of Punk. Justin Sane and Darby Crash represent the political and social voice that the genre has always considered to be of the utmost importance but at the same time Punk also came into existence asa backlash against the pompous bands of the time who took themselves way to seriously so bands like The Sex Pistols and The Ramones represent the idea of it being about the music first and foremost as well as the attitude behind it. They were blatant advertisements of the idea that you shouldn't have to be a virtuoso to go out and play rock n roll. Rock is meant to be a fun way of uniting those who feel like outcasts or misfits. Either way all four musicians made huge contributions to rock n roll at times where change was desperately needed. So let's hear it.
