Putting this in general entertainment section. if it needs to be moved please do so.
I was brought up by my grandfather and a big part of my early life was watching westerns, in the later years of my grandfathers life watching a western, with all the great screen heroes was a wonderful time.
so what i wanted to know was, for westerns fans out there was what is in your opinion the best western made and why. please if you could give a reason rather than just naming a title.
i could name a dozen classic westerns made, but i think from me and my grandfathers point of view Red River with John Wayne and Montgomery Clift. i think the way the film built to a climax between father and son is a true classic in every sense of the word.
I would be very interested in debating the pros and cons of various films with other western fans.

a fifteen inch meat feast pizza, half pound cheeseburger with salad and mayo, a 12 inch garlic bread with doner meat and garlic mayo on top and a chicken shish kebab no salad and garlic mayo. and a 2 litre bottle of pepsi.
Thats my usual saturday night takeaway, but at least if its my last meal i wont be to worried this time about a heart attack.

the repercussions of the september 11th attacks are still being felt today by many people of different races and religions, but to even consider placing a mosque so close to ground zero is at best ill advised and at worst a deliberate inflammatory act.
Having said that, it does need to be acknowledged that most muslims are peaceful law abiding people and that just like any other group of people they contain a small element of extremists.

I enjoy playing adult video games, its escapism. but with todays systems the graphics can be incredibly realistic in the depiction of violence and many games seem like they've been hollywood scripted in terms of bad language and voice talents used. my ps3 is in my bedroom and i escape to it now and again for a bit of peace but if my 3 yr old daughter comes in the room and asks "what you playing daddy?" if its a violent and gory game then i'll pause it until she leaves the room. i enjoy playing suitable video games with her which is one of the reasons i enjoy vizzed. the retro games are simple classics most of which can be played harmlessly by young children.
young children can easily have nightmares seeing some thing inappropriate on a console or on telly and i'd like to slap parents who dont give a damn (or are to ignorant or lazy to find out) what their kids watch or play. its irresponsible parenting!!!

whilst the flooding is a humanitarian tragedy and as such should not be treated lightly, i do think that the call for financial assistance is a bit much. let us not forget that pakistan is a nuclear power and if the authorities did'nt spent money on nuclear weapons proggrammes and instead invested that money on improving the lives of the people, (hospitals and such like). also developing the road structure would have meant help could have got to the worst hit places sooner and aid could have been delivered much quicker, the money could have also been spent on flood defences.
Britain has pledged (i believe) around 40 million, and i for one would rather see taxpayers money spent in britain on the things we need rather than send it abroad to a country that seems to have its priorities wrong.
whilst we and the rest of the world send money and relief aid to people suffering from disaster, there is no incentive for the authorities in some countries to spend their finances more wisely, they can continue spending money on weapons safe in the knowledge if any natural disaster hits they will be helped out.
