UnholyCero : I'll give it a try, and see how good it is exactly.
Beastmode64 : Meh, that's kind of one of those hardcore turn-based RPG's that I really can't get into.
Shaedo K : I'm Canadian, I'm not going to school yet.
saliados : Sounds fun, I'll try it out!

UnholyCero : Oh God, I love Fire Emblem. I played the first one (well, I played Lyn's tale and most of Eliwood's), and I loved it. It wasn't quite something I could totally get into, but it was certainly something I really enjoyed playing.

So, what's a gaming dry spell you may ask? Why, it's a dry spell related to gaming. What's a dry spell? Oh, well the actual definition of it is a drought, but in this case, it means a lack of productivity, or activity. So a gaming dry spell, of course, means that you can't find any games that you can really play, and you don't really enjoy the games you play. You know when you have that period after you find a game, and you play it for the first time, and all you can think is, "Wow, this is incredible!" or, "I'm really getting into this!" well that's when you know, that that's what you're going to be playing for the next few weeks.

So now that we know what a gaming dry spell is (if you have any questions, just ask), why do we have them? After you've been playing a game for a little while, or after you've finished it, usually you seep out of the game's virtual grasp, and move onto something else. This is probably because you've been milking the game so hard of it's awesomeness, that (1) you're getting bored and are finding that there's not much left to do in it, or (2) you're moving out of the one game and into another. For some games, this can take as few as a week, but for others, it can take years. But there are times when after you've moved out of a game (usually because of option 1), you're having trouble finding another game to move into. Keep in mind that a dry spell does not mean that you've given up gaming completely, it just means that you're not playing the game as often as you can (within your own boundaries).

Alright, so why did I make this thread? Well, because I am going through one of these dry spells. I've kind of been playing my usual games (Minecraft, Fallout 3, things like that) on a regular basis, but there's been no game that I'm all like, "Whoa! I just discovered this and I think it's awesome!" So I'm asking you people, this very question...

What's a game that I should check out?

Don't try to reply without reading the list of criteria I am about to mention!

-In terms of my preferred genres, here's my list in order of best to worst: RPG, Strategy, Simulation, Platformer, Puzzle, Shooter (I'm missing a few, I know.)

-RPG: I like open-ended RPG's like Fallout, Skyrim (played both of them), I don't like those hardcore Final Fantasy-like turn-based RPG's.

-Strategy: I love (LOVE) games like Civilization V, Age of Mythology, things that don't have a big difficulty curve, but have the room for being hardcore.

-Simulation: When you think simulation, don't think Farming Simulator 2012, think more like SimCity. Games where you can set up everything and then watch what happens are fascinating to me...

-Platformer: Spelunky is probably one of my most played games ever, and when I think platformer, I think things like that.

-Puzzle: I like puzzle games that aren't like Bejeweled for something, but more like Portal, that dare to do something different, and do it well.

-Shooter: Anything open-ended and that allows you to get creative, but nothing really hardcore. I hate Call of Duty. So much.

-OTHER STUFF: Anything retro is fine, as long as none of the old elements in it make me cringe (I'm fine with old graphics and music, Mario is fine, but things like the blocky, horrible character models like in Deus Ex are unbearable for me, but don't let that narrow the selection down too much), in terms of consoles I have an Xbox and that's it, aside from everything that you can emulate on here. I prefer PC games, except that I have a laptop, and the maximum, I'd say would be Skyrim. I do, however, have access to a computer that can run higher-end games like Crysis, but that's only for two days a week, and you can't exactly get into a game like that.

TL;DR: It's been a while since I've found a game that I can really get into, and I need suggestions. Thanks a lot!

P.S: The whole gaming dry spell thing was mostly something to write about, but this thread is really mostly about the suggestions bit. Love you guys! Mwah!

Ocarina of Time, without a doubt. I myself have never played it (I am in the process of playing Majora's Mask, though. It's amazing, but I've heard OoT is better), but that doesn't make a difference in my opinion. The graphics were amazing, the music is incredible, the story is great, the gameplay is extraordinary, seriously, there's no saying that this game isn't legendary. If you haven't experienced this game I urge you to try it (yes, I know. I've actually played it before, but not much of it) out. You won't regret it.

Pokémon is really addictive. I don't play it, but why else would it be the most played game on RGR?

(Pro-tips for better posting: More detailed is better. I know that from years of experience, also, always go over your spelling, cause people are going to criticize you for it.)

I've never played Pokémon, or Bakugan, or any of those trading card games, and to an extent I've never played YuGiOh. However, there was one time just last year when my friends wanted to play YuGiOh really badly, for whatever reason, and one of our buddies, YuZe (good name for a trainer, eh?) actually had been playing YuGiOh for a long time, so he showed us how to play, and for the lunch breaks all that month we stayed in and played YuGiOh. 'Twas fun, but then there was a big fight over YuZe and another guy (who is known for being very stubborn) not agreeing on the rules (YuZe was actually right, of course), and I've never played YuGiOh since.

As for the game, I tend to stay away from trading card video games. Really big time sinkers is what they are.

I tried DF once, I really really wanted to play and enjoy it, but the interface is too hard to understand! You need so many external programs running at the same time (some of which don't work for me) and it has a very steep learning curve. Maybe some day...

The only "plot" in the Sims is how certain families are kept throughout the games, like the Goth's. It's a sandbox game, a very good sandbox game, and definitely worth your money (the expansion packs... maybe).

Usually, I would tell you to simply not lose the keys in the first place, and keep the box and all that, but if it's one of those cases where your key is linked to an account, then hopefully you remember the password and user name and what not. Otherwise, contact customer support.

Time to review your review. *puts on sunglasses*

Like the guy above me said, your review was all over the place, and didn't focus on one subject at a time. The spelling and grammar was adequate, but that doesn't give you any bonus points. Plus you didn't do a fantastic job of describing the story and game mechanics. Also, this is a review of the original, not the Nintendo DS version. You could maybe mention it at the end, as a small side note, but don't talk about it for most of the review, which brings me to my next point, the review was too short. Seriously, when your review is one paragraph long (I know mine is, but there's not a whole lot you can write about someone else's review) there's not a whole lot you can fit in there. Next time try going more in depth about the subject. Alright? Alright.

Thanks! Oh, and no, I'm not a noob, I am a newb. As you can see, I have had much experience with forums, and I know all the rules. If you're wondering what the YoYo Games forums are, http://forums.yoyogames.com/]here's a link to it. Does this site accept that type of BB code? Anyways, let me give you a brief explanation of YoYo Games that hopefully won't get me banned for advertising: It's a site that hosts many great games using a program called Game Maker. As you might have guessed, Game Maker is for making games. Don't get too exited now! It's not like your first game is going to be like Call of Duty or something! It will probably be something like http://www.yoyogames.com/games/33754-clown-clicker]this, unless of course you know GML and know how to use Game Maker properly.

Hi everyone! As you can see, I'm a noob, and pretty much the only reason I joined is so that I could play as many games as I want in a day. [] I come from the YoYo Games community. I have over two thousand posts on there, and it's awesome. My favorite game is Super Meat Boy, my favorite game on here is Conker's Bad Fur day, and so far this place looks pretty spiffy.

Oh, and one more thing, I do speak French.
