Upon seeing the demo (i hope it was the current one ><) I noticed a few things right away!
1. I think the environments need a little more work. Is is possible to animate the backgrounds of the environments a little? For example... in the Mario level if you made the clouds in the background float from right to left, or maybe bring the patches of grass to life by making them move in the wind or something of that nature. It isnt bad the way it is... but I believe that there is room for improvement. 2. the controls were difficult. I tried and tried and tried to find some sort of consistency with the controls and it just did not work for me at all. I finally found all the necessary keys to operate but at that point my hands were in a very awkward and uncomfortable shape on the keyboard. Maybe there is a better control scheme available? 3. you pretty much fly after you double jump 4. Not that this should be another super smash bros or something, but maybe the use of items would make the game not so focused on just being able to tap the fire button more times in a row than the opponent. Or maybe we could impliment the use of terrain objects that can disable an opponent or hurt them... i dont know, another idea! and last but not least 5. the game needs a better GUI. I like the way a majority of it looks. Don't get me wrong, but I just think that It could look better. The health meters at the top of the battle could use some work for sure! I'm not saying that the game is bad, I am very impressed with the progress so far! I'm just putting in my two cents here. I have experience with vector imaging and I would be more than happy to create some peripherals for new health meters and whatnot. good work though! keep it up! 1. I am onboard for anything and everything!
I am currently a web developer of the .php platform and have worked on a few projects... I could probably lend a hand there! Also, I have an Aesthetic infatuation... so im also available for graphic design! but my forte would lie in the production of music. I have a portfolio at http://music.projectsheppard.com since i created the website yesterday the bio and other links have no content just yet... but thats one the way! the website also contains anything i've ever written, from acoustic to techno... good or bad... I didn't want to hide any of my work, and also wanted some of it around for the sake of memories. the music that would appeal would be all the music under the techno/experimental categories. When I have a motif usually I produce a better sound. check out http://music.projectsheppard.com/playsong.php?SID=40 for an appetizer! I have no idea what I could, or need to do... so if you could give me some direction then I would be more than happy to lend a helping hand in this project. I like where this is heading so I will have no problem devoting some time to this project! take a gander at some of my music. I could make some "new fashioned" remakes of some "old fashioned" songs to put in the game, and if i have to i can bust out the old 8 bit synths and make something worth your while my web design projects are as follows (some of them are not open to the public): 1. Computerstop Work Order System - A work order system that I created for a local computer company in my hometown. 2. MBI clan website - a website that I created for my xbox clan for us to monitor each others online stats and comment back and forth like a typical social networking website! (http://mbi.projectsheppard.com) 3. TXGaming.net - A website for a local xbox competition hosted by computerstop. The website is a work in progress but will eventually be somewhat similar to the clan website I created! (http://txgaming.net) - [work in progress] 4. Jbailey Studios - a website for a friend of mine who does photography. The website will soon offer users a chance to log in and comment on certain photos created by Jason to give him feedback on his work. (http://jbaileystudios.com/index.php) [work in progress] all of my websites are database driven. I preffer mssql, but usually am forced to use mysql instead. I am proficcient in javascr I also am currently the graphic designer for my company Data Management Inc., and am getting pretty familiar with the inner workings of the adobe programs. if anything I would love to write up some original music for the website, I've been dying to create some sort of orchestral/techno hybrid song lately... maybe this is my chance! like I said, let me know what needs to be done, and I will do my best to help out! you can contact me at the_ds_guy@yahoo.com if you want to give m a test run! -Zack Sheppard [I posted but for some reason it didnt go through... if i end up posting two similar posts... you have my apologies!] I am currently a web developer of the .php platform and have worked on a few projects...
