Okay... hear me out on this idea for a quick moment...

Multi-game story arc.

The first game ends with Sonic losing for once.

Maybe he wasn't fast enough, or he got hurt.

Let someone like Tails or Knuckles step up for him for a while.

Sonic has to come to terms that he won't always be the best. Make him take some time off, clear his head, recuperate, whatever...

Sonic then returns to settle the score, faith renewed because he now knows what had been done wrong the first time, rises back up as the legend he once was. Kicks some butt, and takes names.

Boom.

Much rejoicing.

I'd have to say that:

The Dragon Ball series - Numerous times, but especially the original series where Goku is reunited with his dead grandpa briefly ("I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find you!")

Soul Eater - To avoid spoilers, given that the series has been done within the last ten years, and not everyone has had a chance to see the entirety of it, but I didn't expect that I would be pulled in that much with this line: "... Don't cry... For the first time, I'm finally happy... because you were my friend..."

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - Again, I don't want to give spoilers, as there's a twist that would be ruined, but I can assure you that the whole short series is a tearjerker.

Wolf's Rain - The entire series is emotional, but every backstory and the ending is notable.

Junkers, Come Here - It's actually a stand alone film, but it counts as an anime. I'll spoil it, because everyone I've tried to get to watch it with me after I try to avoid spoilers end up ignoring it about 5 mins in... it's 1hour and 30mins long, so you can see my frustration.

The basic plot can be seen as a tearjerker: Hiromi, an 11 year old girl, finds her parents are going to plan a divorce, and don't ask her about how she feels about it, saying that "She's a big girl, she can handle it". She has a Schnauzer named Junkers (say: Yoon-kers) who has the unique ability to talk, but only she knows about it, as she's afraid he'll be taken away if anyone else knows. As her life starts to fall apart, Junkers reveals that he can make three miracles happen for her, but she doesn't believe him (the first two that happen are so ambiguous that it could have easily been done without him).

She finally makes her last wish, that her family could be happy like they were when she was a toddler, and Junkers is able to show his real magic, bringing them all together at the beach they visited many years ago. Junkers tells her to tell her parents her true feelings on the matter, and when she does, they realized how wrong they were for not taking her emotions into account about them splitting up.

They later wake up back home, believing that they had all had the same dream. Her parents finally ask her feelings on the divorce, and conclude that they will reconsider the idea for Hiromi's sake, and try to be a family again. Elated, Hiromi rushes to her room to thank Junkers, only to find that he's just a plain old regular dog, leaving her to wonder if she had dreamed that Junkers was a talking dog all the years she had him.

The epilogue brings up the question if Junkers could ever talk at all and that his magic to make the miracle happen was used up and left him as a regular dog, with him doing a particular thing he normally did that isn't very dog-like at all.

Not going to count ones from ROM hacks, emulators and cheats, as that would be difficult, but in my copy of Pokemon White 2, I have currently caught 3 shinies, and earned 1 prize shiny.

Here they are:

Mint the Watchog was my first. I found her while trying to hatch a female Oshawott, running through the grass in Route 1. I wasn't paying attention, and was absentmindedly hitting the D-Pad to get steps needed to hatch my egg, and looking away from the TV, I saw that I had come across a Shiny!

After having to explain to my mom why this was such an important thing in the game (I thing I made a noise that concerned her), I tossed a Quick Ball just to see if I didn't need to battle, as all my 'mons on my team at the time were too overpowered to go against a Level 52 Watchog without making it faint. Got her on the first throw.

Mint is named for the shade of green the markings are one her. I had only owned the game for 12 days at the time.

Lapis the Bouldore was found about 40 wild encounters after Mint, in Twist Mountain. Certainly took me by surprise, as I hadn't expected another Shiny encounter for a long time, and I don't have any sort of game modifiers to make it happen, so this was purely luck. Thankfully, most, if not all, Bouldores have the ability "Sturdy", and I just had to hit him with a ton of damage, let him hold onto that last hit point and chuck a ball or two at him. I didn't want to waste too many balls, but a Dusk Ball did the trick, as it was night time and inside a cave.

Lapis is named for not only the blue coloration on him, but also the fact that lapis lazuli is a naturally occurring blue rock that is mined. Double meaning there!

Citrine the Pillowsine was found in Giant Chasm when I was hunting for a Ditto to do an in game trade for a Rotom, and while training my Sealeo so I could evolve him. Again, another surprise, and was my  third Shiny found within 3058 encounters.

Citrine is named for his yellow coloring, and citrine is also a yellow (or orange) gemstone.

Piccolo the Dragonite (formerly a Dragonair and Dratini) is my prize for completing the White Treehollow  Challenge. The name is actually a bit more complex in choice: Piccolo is named after one my favorite male anime characters of all time, Piccolo from "Dragon Ball Z":

Not only do they both have green coloration with some shade of purple... but the antennae thing brought the namesake to mind as well, and the whole "Dragon" relation aspect. Plus, the move pool has enough attacks and defense things to replicate some of Piccolo's own attacks and such, so that's cool too.

I'll assume that when you said "Gameboy", you were referring to Gen 1, as that was for the original Gameboy, whereas Gen 2 was Gamebout Color, and Gen 3 was Gameboy Advance...

That said, I always liked the Gastly family's sprites as well in both original pixels and the colorized version:

A very good use of the GB's capabilities while still making it seem as striking as possible. Haunter looks pretty baus here, I think, and Gastly looks as though it could be trying to tear it's way out of the ghost plane of existence... it's pretty cool for it's time.

I'm quite enjoying "Pokemon White 2" right now, which is my first legit Pokemon game that wasn't a rom file on an emulator. I'm loving the selection (though some of the missing Pokemon are kinda bumming me out, since I would love to get some of them...), and I've been having fun with the shaking grass and breeding.

Since I got it for my birthday last month, I've found three shinies: a Watchog, a Bouldore and a Pillowswine. All within the same two weeks. That's pretty lucky in such a short time, I think, without any modifiers or cheats.

MaijjikalMotart : It's a buck, and totally worth it if you want something aesthetically pleasing. Each carpet is based around popular tile patterns, and the armor looks like outfits for professions (like iron makes you makes you look like a fireman, and the diamond makes you looks like a surgeon). Chickens look like drake mallards, and the visuals are really pretty.

If this helps sell it to you, here's another two shots:?

(the grass is now carpeted by the way)

The amount of spiders and creepers I had to fight off to claim this view is astounding. The property took ages to secure and make it impenetrable, as well as running all my supplies across the map to get them here (this was before the update added the Enderchest), so I guess this counts as a crazy thing too. 30 or so round trips to collect all my supplies in the old chests, running along with torches showing the way... it was exhilarating.

Sword legion : Thanks!

I like to explore all sorts of possible (SFW!) things to do with Mephiles, as a way to inspire other people to try something as well. I've also been an active crazed fangirl for the guy since I got the game back in April 2007, so I've had a long time to really pick the guy apart, rebuild him and dissect his aspects (that sounds weird...)

Here's a sub-blog of mine that has some of my headcanons and observations of him, with a lot of the ideas actually getting incorporated as a basis or inspiration for a lot of Tumblr RPers that use Mephiles (they've credited or given nods to me for the one to spark the idea... I squee all the time for that, ha), and one of my observations I gave to the Archie comics at a convention a year before Mephiles had the cameo, actually seems to be accepted as canon to the comics now, so I think I made a good impression on talking with the guys. *grins nervously*

... I should add more that to blog soon... it's been a few months...

I actually think that Mephiles is the conscious half of a clone/imitation of Solaris created in the lab, as it seems kinda strange how everyone just accepts that Soleanna can just harness a god in a tube and just be okay with electrocuting it. But, that's just my speculation...

Ah, I did the entire thing on my iPod with the notes apps, so I tend to not really do much editing at that point... it's usually freestyle there. But, there's always room for improvement, of course. I may make another or something, but it's not really in the writing stage anyway. I also have glasses, and my left eye is my messed up one, so I think I feel your pain too.

Again, thank you! I even tried to make it have "proof" stuff, and here's a fun fact: All of Mephiles dialogue that's not in the XBL message system is all juxtapositions of actual dialogue he has in the game. You can actually cobble the pieces together to create them, which I would have, but as I eventually established that I was supposed to not be able to capture much of the evidence, then having high quality audio would be a bit hokey for that. I had the game script on standby and ran through all the text from Mephiles to build his dialogue to help it feel plausible, as it's accessible on the disc anyway. I did that as a hidden sort of touch that probably no one would notice unless I told them. XD

Sure! Attract all the people you want! I love to share my stories.

Thank you, again, and sure, I'd like to see it.?

I find that things can be scarier when you leave it to your own imagination rather than just describe all the gore. "Nothing" is scarier, I guess. Like the first Alien movie... where you didn't really see the creature until around the end. You just knew it was there, and lurking... but it wasn't out in the open. Classic.

Slightly off topic, here's another sort of creepy-ish short fic I did a few years ago that messes with the idea of being a mindscrew without resorting to gore and violence. And here's a short sad one also about Mephiles... He's my favorite fic fodder.

MaijjikalMotart : Well, for Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition, it allows you to link up your XBL account to your Facebook account, and then you can use that to snap screens that don't have the hub displays on them, so you can get pretty shots like this:

Shot here is of the top story of my multi-level story home. I have a vantage point on the roof, this upper level that I'm still working on, a main level that's my living/crafting area, and my basement. All built on water, with fenced labyrinths to discourage being infiltrated by mobs, several gardens and a cow farm. This is all made with the resources I collected from mine under the little hut I had elsewhere in Survival Mode.

I also have sheep I like to call "Reggie" that broke into my house when I went to sleep, and refuses to leave, so he's my renewable source for wool. XD

This is the City Textures Pack I bought with my rewards points for XBL, by the way. The moon and sun look beautiful, the mobs have suits, and everything is themed to match. The building blocks especially look nice.

I once had to take on two Endermen that spawned outside my little old hut in the Snow Biome (I've since relocated to an in-progress structure that I'm making just over the hills by it, and am now settled on a place that borders the Meadow, Snow and Jungle Biomes, with other nice views...)

The Endermen just spawned before I could get enough lighting around the place, and they pretty much had me take refuge in my hut, as my tamed wolves all were killed trying to defend me while I tried to make weapons. This was really early on in the game. I got a snap of it before I figured out how to get screenshots from my Xbox:

I quite like how Creepers look in the City Textures mod for Xbox 360... they look like little traveling Mormons stopping by to talk to you. XD

"Excuse me, do you have time to talk with me about Herobrine?"

Woo! Now I have pic privileges! Awesome! Time to start sharing some of my favorite bits of various fanarts I've done for whatever series

Let's start with a few personal goodies:

This one was a stab at the whole "ScreenShot Redraw" trend going on at Tumblr. For reference, the original was here

Who remembers Courage the Cowardly Dog? He's probably my favorite character of all time. I used just plain MS Paint for this.

I has gotten into "Soul Eater" in the recent year, and just fell in love with the idea of the character, Crona. Drawn in GIMP. This was my fourth time drawing him. I hid a few things in the picture, and the steps I took to make this are found here

Two versions of a fanart for the (then at the time) new reveal for Sonic Boom, with one version with the new Blue Arms design for Sonic, and the other being the Peach Arms. Drawn in MS Paint, then made transparent in GIMP.

Shadow and Mephiles (from Sonic 06) tied together for reasons I can't even fathom. I just wanted an excuse to make them annoyed at each other. XD

Mephiles laughing evilly/insanely, complete with lightning. I like Mephiles quite a bit, actually...

Mephiles not liking the darkness. I have a huge headcanon thing built around this...

Mephiles Vs Sonic.EXE. I honestly think Mephiles would lose, interestingly...

Another headcanon of mine for an alternate world that my sister and I kinda built on (she loves Silent Hill as much as I love Sonic), so this was kinda a juxtaposition of the ideas.

Handrawn, but it was an illustration for a scene in a collaboration fic I did with someone, and Mephiles was getting his butt handed to him on a silver platter.

I have more if you want to see them.

I like the Snag Machine because you get to actually take Pokémon from trainers with it... granted, ones with hearts closed with Darkness and such, but still, it's cool.

Then next person's favorite item is Charcoal.

For underrated, I'd have to say Rattata/Raticate.

I always try to get myself one early on in the game, and with either Hyper or Super Fang, and Return. By the time I face the Elite, the Pokémon in question is pretty formidable on my team.

There was a "dark age" in the 2000s? I thought the "dark age" was the sub par GameGear games, like Sonic Blast and Sonic Labyrinth, as well as that Game.Com swill.

I honesty enjoyed all the ones I played, and I'm sure if I had a Wii or a DS, I would have liked the others too.

I dunno, I think it made me appreciate the series more.

I like to think it exists on a tangent timeline created when Mephiles tried to mess with Time (cut dialogue from him suggests that he doesn't adhere to the rules of Time and Space, that he's unable to be affected by it much, and his meddling causes him to be able to bridge the gap between "other worlds", suggesting that there are indeed more timelines than what it suggested).

That in mind, I also like to think that the game is merely a look at another world that exists in the series where everything is "Bizzaro" and where Blaze is actually Silver's figment of his imagination (I should post my theory with evidence to show and suggest that Blaze wasn't actually in the game at all in terms of interaction with characters or acknowledgement beyond Silver's part), and that because of meddling with Time... there's at least three realities where everyone is dead, one of which involves some rather gruesome implied ways. All from implications in the game, of course.

What's intrigued me for years is when I asked someone from Sega of America at a convention to something pertaining to Mephiles before I tried a demo of "Sonic Generations" at the convention, and they said and I quote: "Oh, yeah... Mephiles. We actually get a lot of questions about him, really. We didn't get to use him to his full potential, so I don't think we're actually done with him."

That said, I like to hold onto the idea that there might have been something epic originally planned with the game that got cut. One of the leaked drafts indicated that Mephiles' character development could be traced as far back as "Shadow the Hedgehog", so there's that teased in too.

Considering that there's evidence of a possible playable story for Metal Sonic was planned as well... I have to wonder just what sort of things they got in that little treasure trove of a vault as far as development went. Since we seem to get little bits of concept art and such released every now and then (the Crisis City concepts they had in "Sonic Generations" were stunning), I have to wonder what other concept art and drafts they're still holding on to, and what it would take to prod them enough to let us see it all. I really want to know the stages of designs they went through for a lot of that game before they decided what to settle on.

As long as it preserves the "feel" of what makes Sonic something "Sonic", then I'm game.

I just don't want them to try and adapt an old favorite game we all love, and try to shoehorn the fanboy-avatar character (see: Chris Thorndyke) into the story at important plots, and all that...

I'm glad they want to keep the voices consistent across the show and games, so that's nice too.

Barring modified rom hacks, and I assume you mean legit encounters...

Three.

Natasha the Psyduck (now Golduck), Billie the Spinda and Tiana the Poliwag (now Politoed).

There was a shiny Nidoran male that I encountered once in the Safari Zone in FireRed, but he ran off before I could toss a second ball at him. Darn...

imamonster : Well, maybe we'll remember as time goes on.

zanderlex : I'm "el cheapo" on my stuff (for instance, I use MSPaint and an older version of GIMP for my computer art, I use the notepad app on my iPod to write a majority of my stories, and I won't use anything other than Windows Movie Maker for making vids), so I probably will have to settle with the slow upload times. XD

juuldude : Cool! Well, the first forum I started out on was the now defunct TitansGo.Net back in like 2003-2004, where I started also with my common username "RaeLogan" (at the time, it was "Rae_Logan") which is actually derived from my favorite pairing from Teen Titans, Raven and Beast Boy. I kinda adopted that as my internet name and to a degree, I will actually respond to being called "Rae" just as much as my real name because of that. XD

I also have frequented mostly Sonic the Hedgehog themed forum sites, like "The Sonic Factory" (haven't seen those guys in a while, I should swing by there again soon...), and "The Mephiles Domain" (which focuses heavily on an obscure character from Sonic 06, whom I've taken quite a liking to and have just about made my username the most likely to be seen around it, as I tend to be among the first on scene when something pertaining to Mephiles and his status in the fandom occurs. It's a funny long story, really. XD).

My favorite sections them are usually discussions on things in the series, or the art and stories sections, which I like to contribute to for fun. I have a lot of fan art I've done over the years, and I like to write fanfics (most of them involve Mephiles the Dark, of course) that try to be something different than most and don't resort to the content most I've come across in the Sonic fandom do (I refuse to write that sort of content...).

I might eventually link those up when I think I can get around to it... but I think the fanart I do is more likely to show up here first. XD

I write fanfiction mostly, but there's been a couple times I tried to make Creepypastas. I actually want to eventually make one that is considered decent, but instead I chose to make a couple based around Mephiles from Sonic 06. In the end, it felt more like a fanfic than a CreepyPasta, but I tried to make them have photo and video "proof".

Here's the links here since they might be far too long to put on a thread as a post:?

Sonic 2006 Hidden Ending
Sonic 2006 - Episode of Mephiles

If you ask me, personally, I feel Part 2 is better by far (they were written at least a year apart), but compared to my actual fic writing, it's decent at best. ^^;

I tend to.

The way I do it can range from plain regular names that seem to fit, pun names, descriptive names, or play on words...

Some examples I've done over the years:

Adam for Treeko

Tesla, Ohm, Spark, or Bina for Pichu

Fuego for the first female fire type I get. It's Spanish for "Fire", and sounds neat as a female name.

Kingsford, Fahrenheit, Loki, Kole, or Bernie for a Charmander

Luke for a Pidgey. Um... because... Skywalker..? I dunno, it makes sense to me.

Martha or Thomas for a Zubat (Props if you get the reference connection. I won't say it here.)

Brisby for Ratatta. You remember that book/movie, right?

Cody, Kyle, Jake, Nick, or Mark are my pool of names for male Eevees, as I like to give them all short 4 letter names. The females are a bit more random...

Milo and Olim are for my Clefables and Gengars, but the female variations are Mello and Ollem. It's a personal reference to a set of character I have that one is the shadow of the other.

Every pair of Nidorans I get in a game have matching name puns or references to couples like: John and Yoko (take a wild guess), Bill and Laura (Battlestar Galactica), Tony and Maria (double reference if you recall an old Pokémon episode), Greg and Lisa (reference to House), Gil and Sara (I like CSI), or something like Mojo and Jojo.

Natasha was my first legit Shiny, and was a Psyduck. Billie was my second legit shiny, a Spinda. And my third legit shiny, Tiana, was a Poliwag.

Balboa and Shy are my cats' names (well, we call one "Bo", and his full name includes Rocky Balboa) and I tend to reserve them for Meowths.

Scoobert for a male Poochyena, and River for a female.

I tend to avoid renaming the Legendaries, but I may break the idea if it suits me. Chip, Nip and Zip are usually the theme I have for Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres, as the joke is a Chip can be something electric, Nip is what cold does to you, and Zip is derived from a "Zippo" which is a lighter. It's also a set of Beanie Babies I have. XD

I have tons. I rarely let them go without naming them.
