I cannot create a review for Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. The link takes me to a page with just the menu bar at the top. -------------------- |

In this walkthrough I will briefly be detailing the way to get off the Great Plateau, and other helpful hints for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
The game begins with a mysterious voice telling the main character, Link, to awaken from his slumber. He awakens in a room that seems to be a fusion of medieval and sci-fi settings. Running to a small pillar ahead of you and examining it prompts another cutscene, where this "mysterious voice" tells you that the item that pops out of the pillar is a Shiekah Slate, and it prompts you to take it. After taking the Slate, the door ahead of you opens, revealing two chests. One contains the worn-out trousers, while the other a worn-out shirt. Go to your inventory by pressing the + button to equip these (You don't have to, and this leads for some funny dialogue later, since Link is basically in his underpants). Examining another glowing pillar forward, it prompts you to hold your Shiekah Slate up to the eye shape that looks like the Lens of Truth from past Zelda games. Doing this opens a door to the outside, and leaving reveals a massive open world that is the major focus of this game. A small cutscene plays, showing an Old Man walking over towards a campfire after looking at you. Now, the game is fully open from here. You don't have to talk to the Old Man unless you want to leave the Great Plateau, which is only a small fraction of the game's map. From here on, I will detail the most efficient way to play the game. This doesn't mean you can't play it any differently, however. First off, make sure to pick up anything that sparkles. These could be materials for cooking, gemstones, different weapons, or even quest items. Be sure to pick up at least one Tree Branch before speaking to the old man. This will serve as your first weapon for an encounter with an enemy. They break easily, but upon defeating an enemy, it will drop it's weapon, which is much stronger compared to the tree branch, but still one of the weakest in the game. Go and speak to the Old Man (or take his baked apple on the ground, it's much funnier). He will tell you that the Great Plateau is the birthplace of the Kingdom of Hyrule, a kingdom which was destroyed by an event 100 years ago. He also directs you to a large building in ruins. He tells you that this is the Temple of Time, a major location in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. From here on you are free to explore wherever you wish, but I suggest going to the higher portion of the Temple of Time first, the part with the Goddess Statue inside. In front of the main entrance you will encounter a Bokoblin. Defeat it with your Tree Branch and take it's Boko Club. Now enter the Temple of Time, and turn left immediately. You will find a chest containing a Traveler's Bow, your first bow (Please note that this does not contain any arrows, you must collect those on your own). For future reference, your inventory IS limited in some ways. You can carry up to nine weapons at a time, 4 shields, and 5 bows. Everything else is unlimited, as far as I know. After running around for a bit longer, the Mysterious Voice will speak to you again, instructing you to head for a point that has been marked on your Shiekah Slate. Head for that point, and I recommend that you defeat any enemies that you may come across on your way. When you arrive, you will find a small cave containing yet another pillar. Placing your Sheikah Slate in the slot on the pillar. By doing so, a massive tower rises from the ground. This is the game's first Shiekah Tower. These allow you to obtain map data for the area around you, this one giving you a map for the Great Plateau. You are atop the tower, and the mysterious voice directs your attention to Hyrule Castle, which is surrounded by a dark mass called Malice. Out of the Malice, the head of a figure arises. The Voice explains that this is Calamity Ganon, the one responsible for Hyrule's destruction over 100 years ago. (PLEASE NOTE THIS WALKTHROUGH IS NOT YET FINISHED. Let me just say something before we get started; I LOVE FIRE EMBLEM!!! This was my first Fire Emblem game, and is still my favorite, even after the release of Fates and Heroes. This game has so much to offer, so lets go ahead and get into this!
Graphics: For the Nintendo 3DS, the graphics are stunning. They are the most realistic of any Fire Emblem game ever when battling, and during the story segments the anime art-style compliments the game's tone nicely. But the real kicker out of all of this are the fully-animated, 60FPS, CGI, anime-art style cutscenes! They are BEAUTIFUL!!! They add so much more emotion and depth to the story and characters. Just look up the cutscenes on Youtube; you'll be amazed; and it's on the 3DS! These are PS4 quality cutscenes! Sound: The soundtrack is again, amazing, but this is to be expected from a Fire Emblem game. I like how when you are viewing the battlefield, it has a calmer, slower tune, but as soon as you enter combat, a more up-beat, action-oriented version of the same song picks up right where the other left off. My favorite track has to be "Conquest," which was actually so good it was carried over into the Fire Emblem: Fates sountrack. Addictiveness: This game is very addictive. When I first played it, I made it to chapter 7 within 4 hours of playtime! There is a lot more to this game than it seems, but I will cover that in the "Depth" section. Story: In this section I will quickly summarize the plot of the game. Be warned: there are spoilers ahead. The game begins with your avatar and the other main character and prince of Ylisse, Chrom, taking down a mysterious man named Validar. Before you defeat him, Validar uses the last of his power to force you into killing Chrom. Your avatar then awakens in a field with Chrom, and his younger sister, Lissa, standing over you. You realize that you have no memories of how you got there, or anything before Chrom woke you up. You then join Chrom's Shepherds: a group of warriors dedicated to keeping peace in Ylisse and the surrounding kingdoms. The reigning monarch of Ylisse, exalt Emmeryn approves, and you join the group. That night, a mysterious portal opens, and patchwork zombie-like creatures called Risen begin to attack. However, before the portal can close, another figure leaps through: a woman going by the name of Marth, which is also the name of the first exalt of Ylisse. After saving Lissa's life, Marth mysteriously disappears. The Shepherds then march to the neighboring kingdom of Regna Ferox to request support in suppressing the Risen. East Khan Flavia then explains that she is not in full power, the West Khan Basilio is. She then explains that the tournament to determine the next reigning Khan is the next day, and that if the Shepherds represent her in the tournament, she will grant the alliance. The next day, the West Khan's champion is revealed as none other than Marth, who wields the divine blade Falchion, which is the exact same sword that Chrom wields! After defeating Marth, she helps you prevent an attempt to assassinate Emmeryn by King Gangrel of Plegia, who wants a mystical relic called the Fire Emblem to eradicate the Ylissians as revenge for a war instigated by Emmeryn's father. Emmeryn sacrifices herself to protect the Fire Emblem, and Chrom slays Gangrel. Skip forward 2 years, and Chrom is married and has a baby daughter named Lucina. A new threat is revealed in the neighboring continent of Valm, which has been conquered by an emperor named Walhart, and he now seeks to conquer Ylisse, as well as Ferox and Plegia. On the way to defeat him, Chrom runs into Marth again. It is revealed that she is actually a version of Lucina from the future, where Grima, the fell dragon slain by the First Exalt, and that only by gathering the five gemstones to complete the Fire Emblem can Grima be stopped. Wow. That was long. That isn't even the entire plot! But yeah. That's the story. Depth: As shown above, the story offers so much depth it will take you at least 30 hours to complete the main story alone. There are also Paralouges, where after getting two units of your army married, you can recruit one of their children, who traveled back with Lucina to prevent Grima's resurrection. There are also the DLC maps, in which you can recruit Enhairji, which are clones of characters from previous Fire Emblem Games. Difficulty: In traditional Fire Emblem style, there are the Normal, Hard, and Lunatic difficulties, but there is also the new Casual mode, where units don't die permaneantly Graphics: For the Nintendo 3DS, the graphics are stunning. This game is overall amazing! A great tribute to classic Genesis titles!
Graphics: The graphics of Freedom Planet are what you could expect from an old 16-Bit Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo game, but enhanced with faster animations and more detailed character sprites. This graphical style fits this game very well, as this game originally started out as a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game. Sound: Freedom Planet's soundtrack is top notch - possibly even better than those of the Mega Man and Sonic franchises. It has a 16-bit flair to it, while also using more modern elements. With mysterious sounding songs such as Relic Maze segment 2 and Aqua Tunnel segment 1, and fast paced ones such as Final Dreadnought Round One and Sky Battalion, Freedom Planet's soundtrack has much to offer. Addictiveness: The game is easy to pick up, hard to master, and gives off the nostalgic feeling of playing Sonic the Hedgehog. The game would have even more content beyond the three playable characters, had the DLC not been indefinitely postponed. Story: The games story, while optional, is very in depth. An alien named Lord Brevon crash-lands on the planet Avalice and aims to escape by stealing the Kingdom Stone, an ancient artifact that provides power to the three kingdoms of Avalice. Along with help from a space-detective named Torque, Lilac the Dragon and her friends Carol the Wildcat and Milla the Basset Hound must stop Lord Brevon before it is too late. There are some childish/comedic portions, but also heart-wrenching emotional portions. I DEFINATELY recommend playing with cutscenes turned "on." Depth: The game has much to offer, with 14 stages and 3 playable characters (Lilac, Carol, and Milla) 4 difficulty levels and tons of achievements/collectables. The DLC would have added Spade and Torque as playable characters, one new stage exclusive to Torque called Horizon Starport, and a story mode for Milla. Torque, Spade, and Horizon Starport are still accessible in the Steam version of the game, but only in a beta format, and the DLC was indefinitely postponed due to the developers focusing their efforts on the sequel, Freedom Planet 2. Difficulty: The difficulty varies based on the level of difficulty you choose before starting the game. You can choose Easy, Normal, or Hard, which effects the amount of damage enemies do to your character, and Casual mode adds the effect of your health being constantly regenerated. Normal mode is actually extremely difficult, comparable to playing the original Mega Man. Overall, this game is a worthy successor to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and I cannot wait for the sequel to be released. WARNING!!! THIS POST CONTAINS UNPOPULAR OPINIONS!!! I think that one of the most disappointing games I have ever played was the original Sonic the Hedgehog. The reason being that I had played Sonic CD and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 before I played the original. I was surprised that it did not have the spin dash move or the Figure 8 Peel Out.. Also, NO SUPER SONIC!!! I know that Sonic CD did not have Super Sonic either, but it still had Time Travel and Metal Sonic. Plus, having experienced the Adventure games and Heroes before both of them, I had high expectations.
