So new information has been released concerning the upcoming Fall 2014 TV series (And as now known, its accompanying Sega game), Sonic Boom.

If my understanding is correct, this is actually canon... in its own way. Its sort its own canon to the series, like... an alternate universe. Think of it as one of the parallel worlds Sonic might turn into somewhere along the Cosmic Highway if you're familiar with the Archie comic series.  On a personal level I'm okay with this as long as the canons don't bleed together.

There's been a lot of talk concerning the story, character designs, etc. A lot of talk has been positive, a lot of talk has been negative. Your thoughts, Vizzed members?

My personal thoughts? ... I wanna see how this turns out. I'm liking Sonic's quirky, kinda rude attitude. I'm honestly digging the new character designs, and thanking God they did something cool with Amy's design and threw out that red hoop dress. I'm liking the setting. I'm liking the basic premise. Its different, but acceptably so.

My biggest pet peeves? ... only two. One of my peeves I share with many others: Knuckles looks like he's on steroids or something. I mean, seeing him past that silhouette they WERE showing as a teaser screen he looks better than I thought he would, but... still looks wonky. My other pet peeve? ... they're still using the name Eggman. There's been controversy over it, but... Robotnik is what I grew up with, it sounds better, and honestly sounds more threatening and villainous than 'Eggman'. But that's all just my humble opinion. I'd like to hear yours.

legacyme3 : You bet your underwear its fun. I love how each character presents their own challenges, advantages, items, etc., so the game is NEVER the same every time you play. The replay value is wicked.

Just curious. My BF bought me Don't Starve on Steam a while back and I. Am. HOOKED. I love its cartoonish yet macabre art and storytelling style. I love how it has this insane difficulty level, yet... its so fun you just wanna keep playing ANYWAY, whether you reach the end or not, because there's always more to do and more to discover...though I avoid Spider Queens like the plague. Those don't help my paralyzing case of arachnophobia a bit. *shudders* I also love how easy it is to get character and gameplay mods from the Steam workshop. I'm currently using a character mod called "Michael the Fox", whom is honestly a difficult character to use... and I'm liking the challenge. >3 Bring it, sugar pop.

Anyone else playing this game?

@Mohammedroxx3: I appreciate it, but I'm afraid that's one of the download links I've already tried. It does download the program, but... I'm afraid I still run into the error whereas it prompts for a registration that I'm disallowed to complete. Thanks so much for taking the time to try though!

@Tornadocam: Actually both my computers run on the same operating system, Windows 7, and it runs fine on the laptop I downloaded it to a couple years back. And the program itself downloads just fine, its just that this version of the program is no longer actually on Serif's website and therefore its not viable to register. Thanks for helping though. n.n Much appreciated.

I think about the only two things that really killed the game were the voice acting and the use of profanity. Seriously, we all know how dark the Sonic series can get, hinting a few lines of Robotnik's from Lost World and Sonic technically DYING for a short period of time in Sonic '06... and have you sporking SEEN Metal Sonic Kai from Chaotix? Yeah, the series can get pretty darn dark, and I LOVE it when it does, but never once did you hear a profanity until ShTH, which for me kind of killed it because in my mind I'm thinking, "... yeah, bad things happen that you have to avert, some worse than others, but you always have a choice over what words you use."

Oh, I can recall SEVERAL times Creepers caught me off guard hilariously. One takes place on the Z-Day Zombie Apocalypse server. My BF (Prdarkfox on DeviantArt) and I were down in some deep caverns doing some mining, and thanks to a server mod we weren't aware of at the time, all of a sudden I see this Super Creeper... well... creeping about. Seeing that blue glow immediately sets off the alarms in my head, and I immediately let out these... weird little short scream bursts because its caught me so off guard. PDF's all, "Sakura, what's gotten into y-" THAT'S when he turns and sees the Super Creeper as well. Needless to say, we both headed for the hills. We're brave, but we're not stupid. Apparently there was a server mod applied that allowed Super Creepers to spawn naturally rather than be spawned only by a Creeper being struck by lightning. Would've been nice to know ahead of time... as well as when they applied the Giant Zombie mod. [sarcasm]Thanks for the advanced warning, Z-Day staff![/sarcasm]

Another time was actually on the embarrassing side. I was on a vanilla server, the only player online, and was working around my fort quietly enough. I stepped inside mid day to get some wooden logs from a chest, leaving the door open as I'm only gonna be like, two seconds right? As I'm in the chest, I suddenly hear "SssssSSsssss... BOOM!". ... glad no one else was on the server to see that.

This isn't to say I haven't used Creepers to my advantage though. I remember once I led a Creeper into a Skeleton dungeon to neutralize the spawner and save me the trouble of mining up a small portion of that lovely mossy cobblestone. >3

Terribly terribly sorry my master, but there was an unfortunate... accident at the groomer's and your huge, fluffy bunny isn't so fluffy anymore. He's too embarrassed to come out and play with you. My apologies. *curtsies*

Now, beg your pardon my good servant, but might I trouble you to fetch me my good footie pajamas on this cold evening?

I cannot STAND Windows 8. When I bought my gaming laptop, I purposely sought out one with Windows 7 on it. It wasn't easy as 8 was becoming predominant at the time, but I finally got my MSi, loaded with Windows 7 at a GREAT closeout deal.

Brigand : I think you're taking it out of context when you say that. As for the sex part, yes the Bible does mention sex in its own way, but you can't get around that sex exists, and just mentioning it or saying it happened or alluding to it isn't the same as going into illicit details like one of those saucy romance novels you get for a buck fifty at the gas station. When sex was mentioned, it was either to define boundaries of morality or to recount a significant event. As for violence, it also unfortunately happens. Can't get around it, and yes, sometimes the Bible does go into detail on the violence, but what details were gone into were to show the intensity and reality of the situation, not just for show.

As for how I feel about violent video games? ... it depends on the type of violence and the level of gore. For instance, some normal amount of blood doesn't bother me because hey, you get cut, you're gonna bleed. Major amounts of blood like some video games show is senseless and uncalled for. Like, a guy gets his head ripped off and more blood than the human body can actually even hold spews out. There's zero sense in that. It also depends on the context of the violence; are you defending yourself or others, or are you just out to kill innocent people for a few bucks?

Lemme give you an example: A favourite arcade series of mine is the line of Jurassic Park rail shooters. Oh yeah, its violent, and sometimes bloody, but the amounts of blood are usually realistic and you're only using violence to try and keep from getting eaten alive. If its self defense, defense of the innocent, trying not to get eaten, etc. then it becomes neither a moral or immoral violence, its amoral because you have no choice. Like... Sora beating the crud out of Organization XIII with a sporking key. He had no choice but to do it if he wanted to find Riku, save Kairi, find Namine, etc. etc. As for games like GTA where you're... pretty much killing for the sake of killing because its 'fun'? No. Nonononononono. THAT'S the kind I won't touch.

DrawPlus 4.0. I downloaded the freeware DrawPlus Starter edition from Serif's website, but it disallows me from using some of the pre-rendered shapes and transparencies I once used in DrawPlus 4.0 freely for some of my backgrounds (I use Gimp for my main drawings, then make my backgrounds in DrawPlus 4.0 to make my characters pop.). I tried to copy the program over from my old laptop, but unfortunately I think there's some bit rot, as it refuses to work properly that way. I've tried downloading from a few freeware sites, but when asked to register the product I got a 404. (Don't worry, I made sure the sites/downloads were entirely safe before downloading anything. Last thing I need on this practically new MSI laptop is a virus, malware, etc.)

So if anyone knows where I can snag oldie-but-goodie freeware program, please help!

Its honestly hard to say and dependent on several factors. Ends don't necessarily justify means, so it depends on why you're liked or respected. If you have either for the wrong reasons, neither is important IMHO. The journey is more important than either destination in this case.

The story takes place on planet Mobius, in the Year of the Amber Python during the month of the Red Moon. A seasoned mercenary woman frees a young boy from slavery and ends up taking him on as her apprentice in her field of work, but is it really such a good idea? Find out as Damien follows Sakura on her various missions, adventures and mishappenings in this multi-story series.

Story 1: "Rescue in the Angelite Mines"

---Chapter 3
---Chapter 4
---Chapter 5
---Chapter 6

Story 2: "A Traitor in the Midst"
---Chapter 1
---Chapter 2
---Chapter 3
---Chapter 4

Story 3: "Malpractice"
---Chapter 1
---Chapter 2
---Chapter 3

---Chapter 5

Story 4: "Survival in the Sand"
---Chapter 1
---Chapter 2
---Chapter 3 NEW 12/27/2014

Notes:
--- A little explanation of my dating system: Yeah, I like to be weird, so each year isn't numbered, but named with a combination of a gemstone and an animal. For example, "Year of the Pearl Dragonfly" and "Year of the Jade Dolphin". Also, took a note from Escaflowne and decided to define months by colours of the moon based on the birthstones of each respective month. For example, January is the
"Red Moon" because the birthstone for January is Garnet. September would be a "Blue Moon" because the birthstone is Sapphire, and November a "Yellow Moon" for the birthstone being Topaz. July is a the "Crimson Moon" for Ruby, and so on. See the pattern?
--- Yes, the DeviantArt timestap shows that its been a good while since I finished up the final chapter of "Malpractice", but I generally try to stay more consistent with my chapters. I'd started working two jobs right around the time of completion of Malpractice, so for a time I barely had time to breathe. Once the next story, "Survival in the Sand" is up and running, chapter output should be more consistent as I'm back to one job now, the seasonal of the two jobs having ended.
