imamonster : Well, it is the greatest and most criminally underrated series ever aired on Nickelodeon. I'm lucky to have seen it myself...but trust me, it is top-notch and does not rely on nostalgia the way most 90's Nicktoons do. It predated Spongebob by at least five years and easily outdid practically everything Spongebob did in my opinion (except for the fact that Spongebob had a movie and a rock concert). It was often pure genius and had a great message about the troubles of life as an adult, with a style and sense of humor that often catered almost specifically to the observant teenage audience (some bits were so risque that they would probably not be allowed at school). However, when people call Rocko "the show to end all shows", THAT'S when you know it's starting to become slightly overrated.

Rocko's Modern Life is phenomenally underrated and misunderstood by the public (when you become a teenager and get too old for Spongebob, you should learn to appreciate how rock-solid and adult-oriented this show actually is for a kids' show), but I sometimes feel that it might be just a little bit overrated by critics and the people who actually saw all 52 episodes (it's by far the coolest Nickelodeon show of all time in my opinion, but can you really give something five stars JUST because it has Rocko in it?).

In fact, yesterday, on the day when someone else won a copy of Rocko's Complete Series DVD set at the prize raffle at school (yes it exists now), I did a joke where I acted like my teachers were going to give me a Butterfinger chocolate bar just because I had a T-shirt with Rocko on the front of it).

However, since I'm constantly arguing in my mind between my own thoughts and the hateful thoughts of Rocko haters (I almost considered taking my Complete Series DVD set out to the dumpster because someone called the show "garbage"), I sometimes cannot decide whether the show is overrated trash or underrated gold. I feel that it is a cross between the two. Still really awesome though. Nearly everything Spongebob did was actually easily outdone by the Rocko series (even the Ugly Barnacle joke), an example of why sometimes you really do need to root for the underdog.

One thing that I definitely need to point out is overrated is Spongebob. At its best, Spongebob was (mildly decent show, incredible YouTube Poop material). Currently, Spongebob just needs to die. Just make the second movie and then cancel the show. PLEASE. Stop. With. Freaking. Spongebob. Squarepants.

Now, look, I'm not dissing Rocko's Modern Life here. The show was actually literally so good that the sheer height of its quality standards eventually became a partial cause of its downfall. Although it was not entirely "appropriate" for school and I was (more than) a little pissed off by the animation style (not to mention that the show was a slightly blatant knock-off of Ren & Stimpy at times), time has led me to discover that this show makes even the classic Spongebob look like nearly complete garbage by comparison (in my opinion).

Spongebob was always an incredibly overrated, inane, and painfully childish ripoff of its predecessor Rocko; however, instead of Rocko's incredibly unique, colorful and misunderstood style that catered deliciously to teenagers with its crazy yet often surprisingly true-to-adult-life scenarios and adult humor (not to mention its extremely top-notch writing for a kids' show)...instead, with Spongebob, we got a watered-down and painfully childish imitation with practically zero plot and mediocre jokes that always got turned into memes due to Spongebob's viral and generally undeserved level of popularity.

Due to the fact that Rocko is so often neglected on lists of the best cartoons of all time while the overly long-running and incredibly overrated Spongebob hogs the top spots (seriously, what's Spongebob really so great for other than "YouTube Poop" material?), Rocko is often seen as woefully underrated since so many people never saw it or had the wrong image of it due to the fact that it was clearly aimed at an older audience than the target audience of a proper kids' show and therefore got the shaft due to being what the overly sensitive people of society considered "absolutely unacceptable for their children" (note: this is bullcrap).

However, while Rocko's Modern Life is, indeed, secretly the best Nickelodeon show of all time and one of the greatest shows period...could it also secretly be the most overrated? You can leave regular posts or troll posts below, whichever you prefer.

Radiation's Halloween Hack (of Earthbound).
  • This hack starts out very simple; basically the same tone, mood, and style of the original Earthbound. Your character (Varik, a badass-looking bounty hunter who uses actual swords and magic) starts out in Twoson, which is pretty much exactly how you remember it...only with slightly different enemies. You cannot go to the other towns, as they are blocked off by swarms of unbeatable enemies.

When you talk to the mayor, he says that a monster killed his daughter and that you have to go across the sewers to the Land of Doom to investigate it. Cliched, but it makes sense. About halfway through the sewers, everything suddenly turns hellish and demonic. It gets even worse when you enter the Land of Doom, an apocalyptic version of Winters. Eventually, you reach Dr. Andonut's lab. After a conversation with him, you walk up to the Revitalizing Capsule and receive a text prompt asking you to kill the monster.

If you press B, you'll enter Dr. Andonuts's mind. I won't spoil the rest of the game, but...basically, this hack takes place in an alternate timeline created by the Chosen Four's victory against Giygas. In this alternate timeline, the Chosen Four never returned to the present after being sent into the past to fight against Giygas. Dr. Andonuts has gone completely insane from the mental torment of realizing that he sent four children into the past to perish, neglected his son, and even abandoned his own wife. Expect to see some weird stuff in his mind.

Overall, awesome hack. It's short, but the gameplay features high-difficulty combat in which stocking up on items and using intelligent strategy are both required due to the extremely limited stats. The story is unique and has dialogue that actually moves you forward in a very interesting way. 5/5

I think that Chrono Trigger is EXTREMELY overrated. It was incredibly flashy but the gameplay definitely needed some work, especially when it comes to difficulty balance; hell, the enemies don't even scale to your level when you go into New Game Plus. There should be a CT remake that fixes that bullcrap. Overall, the game was just plain too easy. Same with Super Metroid (kind of).

I have an incredibly underrated series of LBP2 levels called "Xander VERSUS The World". The storyline and atmosphere are cool and creepy, the soundtrack is phenomenal, the theme is clever, and the gameplay is actually quite serviceable. If you ever dig LBP2 back up out of your game collection for a trip down memory lane, I would recommend playing this sadly overlooked series. However, can you thik of any other reasons to dig LBP2 back up? Nostalgia? My PSN name is xan-con

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
