Hi,

One of the hobbies I do besides playing games on my PC and Xbox 360, and developing games, is collecting Beta/Alpha/Pre-Release/Old versions of games. One of the things I want to know is if people here do collect these versions of video games.

One of the reasons I like to collect these is because video games have a HUGE history they go through while they are in development, and I want to know specific parts of its history.

Some of the betas I have are, but not limited to:

Doom 3 Beta
Half-Life 2 Beta
Half-Life 1 Alpha
Team Fortress 2 Alpha
Team Fortress 2 Version 0
...And a LOT more!

My PCs (a laptop and a Dell XPS 400 tower with a Nvidia card, more RAM and a 1/2 TB Hard Drive) aren't really technologically advanced, so I mostly play games like Source Engine games like Garry's Mod, TF2 or The Stanley Parable. Probably one of the best games i can run properly is Bioshock Infinite on Low/Very Low settings on my laptop.  However, do plan on building a "next-gen" PC one day myself though. (More info here if you actually want to know the planned specs. I'm considering on mostly a build with Intel and Nvidia because my old tower uses it, but maybe I might switch to AMD, IDK. AMD version: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Bitl/saved/H9v2FT Intel version: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Bitl/saved/km2xFT )

Sorry for the 2-year bump.

Just edited the review with my newest opinion on the game since I beat the game's campaign a few days ago (and i'm trying to beat it on Legendary).

"This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was employee # 427.
Employee # 427’s job was simple: he sat at his desk in room 427 and he pushed buttons on a keyboard. Orders came to
him through a monitor on his desk, telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This
is what employee 427 did every day of every month of every year, and although others might have considered it soul
rending, Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job. And
Stanley was happy.

And then one day, something very peculiar happened, something that would forever change Stanley, something he would
never quite forget. He had been at his desk for nearly an hour when he realized that not one, single order had
arrived on the monitor for him to follow. No one had shown up to give him instructions, call a meeting, or even say
hi. Never in all his years at the company had this happened, this complete isolation. Something was very clearly
wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Stanley found himself unable to move for the longest time, but as he came to his wits
and regained his senses, he got up from his desk and stepped out of his office."

So did anyone play this? Discussion of the mod can be talked about here as well as the demo. Keep spoilers in spoiler tags.

Sorinkun : No, just no.

Why did you believe this? I mean, if Valve was going to RELEASE another Half-Life, they would announce it.

Spore? What's with these people calling this game "childish"? This is one of the best games I have ever played of all time (under Team Fortress 2, the Half Life/Portal series, and The Stanley Parable). Plus the mods are pretty cool, Dark Injection and Dark Genetics are my favorites.

There is just something about this game that just speaks to me in some way, shape or form. I mean seriously, go out and play it. It's on Steam and Origin.

Oh and here's something to be excited about, people are making a realistic Sporeish ling called THRIVE: http://revolutionarygamesstudio.com/

I'm actually thinking on actually buying it because of how it supports 3DS/NDS games. Plus it's not useless if Nintendo can make a little cash out of it. It's superior than the Xbox One, that's for sure.

I would either recommend Unity or UDK. Use Blender as a 3D modeling program for your game.

EDIT: Apologies for bumping this, by the way.

Here's my first review! Oh yes, I am ready for this one, and it is Halo 4 for the Xbox 360! Keep in mind that I haven't played Halo 4 in a while since I have been busy on the PC or played a different game on the Xbox 360, so here is what I think of Halo 4.
THE STORY:

The story is... interesting to say the least. I don't really know why 343 Industries wanted to go with a more emotional story. Not really the greatest of the Halo series story wise but still pretty interesting. 8.6/10 for the story. Not bad for a first game.

GAMEPLAY:

In Halo 3, the gameplay was perfect and actually feels like the previous Halo games. In Halo Reach, that concept was improved upon. In Halo 4, especially the multiplayer, it feels like 343 Industries copied and pasted some things from Call of Duty. And I'm not saying it's bad, but I feel that even though most elements of the gameplay feel like Halo, stuff like killcams and such don't really make it feel like Halo to me. Sprinting is permanently enabled, which really isn't a bad idea for Halo (In fact, Grifball in Multiplayer feels really fun with it), but Bungie made Sprinting a power up in Halo Reach for a reason: so the original Halo gameplay can be kept into the game while adding something small to give the players a boost. Overall, I give the gameplay a 8.5/10.

MULTIPLAYER:

Do I even have to talk about the multiplayer? It is REALLY GOOD despite some gameplay elements I described earlier. Grifball is my favorite in this game. 9.6/10 for the multiplayer.

GRAPHICS:

And finally, the graphics. This game has to have the best graphics on the Xbox 360 to date. 343 Industries did a REALLY good job with the graphics in this game. If  I were a guy that thought that graphics make the game (which I am not thankfully.), I would say that this is the best graphics I have seen from any game. 9.8/10.

OVERALL:

Overall I give this game a 8.3 out of 10. Not a bad game, I could recommend it to someone who is a hardcore Halo fan. Graphics are AMAZING though.

Hopefully you all enjoyed my first review here, and check back for more!

EDIT: Here's a little update to this review since I recently finished the game a few days ago. My honest opinion is that Halo 4 isn't all that bad for 343 industries first game. Of course some things should be changed here and there, but I think this is a pretty good game, despite the fact that almost everything is changed. I wish luck to 343i on Halo 5 (Halo 5 actually looks awesome btw).

No, I don't think that would be a great idea. Seeing that the community is as large as it is, I doubt Mojang can go and make a new one.
