I like the guide. I think I'd modify one or two if I wrote it, but overall, good.

Interesting thread. I appreciate being able to find all this info together somewhere other than wikipedia (and closer together in the long run).

There's one thing that bothers me about the terms related to transgender. It's the fact that, in a way, it is sexist. Now hold up, hear me out.
When I hit puberty, or vice versa, I first looked down and saw hair on my chest and such, grabbed a razor and made it disappear. When I was a kid, I loved hot pink. It was my favorite color. I remember this guy in middle school that I kept thinking was cute and stuff....
What would you call me? See, I'm straight and highly masculine, at least I am today. When I was fourteen, everyone told me I was probably repressed gay and at least effeminate if not a trans girl.
When you say guys who wish they didn't have body hair are transgender, aren't you saying that guys are hairy? If you say guys who don't want to be 'muscular' but would rather be pretty are transgender, aren't you saying that guys are muscle heads and not pretty?
It really, really seems to me that the phrase "transgender" puts genders in boxes and says that if you don't fit in those boxes you must fit in one of these others (I.e. trans boy, trans girl, etc.). Guys must be hairy and muscular and girls must be pretty and trans must fit the box of whatever they identify as.
When I first hit puberty, I hated it. I kinda disliked being a guy, even.
Now that I've gotten more used to having an adult male body, I appreciate it. It has its benefits and downsides. I didn't get to pick to be a guy, and I didn't get to pick to be over six foot. If I could have chosen, I would have been a cute girl with straight, auburn hair or something. I mean, gosh, that sounds fun! I could comb my hair... and... comb my hair....

I really like being who I am. I didn't used to. But if you try to put me in a box, I seem to sometimes have a limb dangling, needing to be stuffed in.
And so does everyone I know.

Anyhow, that's my story. And I'm just trying to put another idea on your board, not argue. If you're looking for views on transgender in one spot, Xen's statements are really good examples of the modernist take, while Bomchu's give a good look at some of the conservative views. I hope this post can give the intellectual, confused hipster view its own representation and not start an argument or debate.

Oh, oh, and Xen, just out of curiosity, I ask this question: Does transgender purely refer to what you decide to identify with? I am under the impression it does, but I've never been completely certain.

Thanks for your time and I hope this post is good food for thought and not an insane lot more.

Woot . Does this mean you won't need anyone else? Or are you looking for multiple musicians?
Warning: music people can fight over responsibilities like cats or dogs over catnip or bones .

Alright, this thread is about what your favorite Star Wars expanded universe story is. There are tons of books, comics, games and all set in the SW expanded universe, and they all have their unique stories. Some are pre-original trilogy, while others take place afterward.
Spoilers may exist on this forum, but don't go and plot out the entire storyline. Avoid spoilers, but if you must mention them, just know they may exist here. If there is a specific plot twist you love, feel free to mention it. But don't spend a thousand words telling every aspect of a story.

I'm going to start this off with my personal favorite: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. It's a rather obvious choice, since it is one of the most story rich SW games made. There is a plot twist with excellent foreshadowing, and the characters are strong. Bastilla and Carth make great, rather deep companions to the main character.
But... honestly, as great as the first game was, the plot of the second really only served to make you love the main character from the first even more. It kind of makes him (canonically he's a dude) into an amazing legend.

Just... no to the TOR treatment of Revan. No. Never. Ever.

Behind a Guitar

When I'm behind a guitar,
I can do anything.
I can be anything, paint anything, sing as long without a breath as the next guy
or never breath at all.

When I'm behind a guitar,
I can be anything.
My confidence surges, and my hair seems to stay closer to my head
in a slightly sexy way, if you'll pardon my saying so.

But I'm center stage now,
my Taylor tucked away
behind the back seat today, waiting.
My vocal chords dry,
my hair frizzy.

So, I'll leave a link here to one of my folk songs. I'm kind of a folk artist.... As for video game music, I can send that to you sometime if you get me an email address or whatever.
I write songs and have taken a couple years of college level music theory. I play multiple instruments and have made some
But... I am skeptical about one part. I don't mean to be rude by pointing this out or anything, but... could you also use an editor/proofreader for the games? I'm qualified in that respect as well.
Anyhow, thanks and stuff. Here, I'll leave you with a nice little youtube link:

Ever hear of the game "Cave Story"?
It had a program they used to make the 8-bit soundtrack, or whatev. I got into doing that a lot.
So, as far as electronic music goes, I've never done anything with synth and don't actually know any of the programs I've seen mentioned on here... but I mean, I definitely have strategies for making electronic music.
I guess I'll kick off strategies? Not sure if this is what you mean, and I am by no means a pro at this... but hey, can't hurt to say something, right?
I usually lay down a beat first and try to come up with hooks. I come up with two or so main melodies and then build all the rest of the music around them.
In more advanced terms, I often do a theme-and-variations or ABA' format.
I'm assuming if you're writing electronic music you know something about music theory? I often pick a chord progression and start out with just the bass line, adding another line/instrument every four to eight measures until I have all my instruments in, and then I just try to build emotion and stuff from there on.
Anyhow, I think everyone has their own way, and a lot of what I do is just plain old common sense... but hey, can't win em all, eh?

I'm kind of interested in seeing what this turns into.
Also... why in the blue blazing world would PETA host a minecraft server? I mean, you saw what happened to Denmark!

"Newsflash: NRA hackers holding animals hostage in PETAcraft!"

Yeah... well.

I'm surprised there aren't more people saying song of storms....

My personal favorite is probably song of storms, since it has the catchy jump in the middle of the first phrase.
That being said, I don't exactly consider it to be the best song in the series, not by a long shot (no pun intended).
I'm a really big fan of the opening theme, too, but who isn't?

Also, make sure you look up metal remakes of the song of storms! They done be's awesome!!!!

Ahem. Anyhow.

Oh, oh oh. This is fun.
I love the mouse. I grew up with it. But no one would consider that a controller.
I hate the PS1 controller. I got so many blisters from that. It sucked, even if Ape Escape was fun.
Joysticks seem... weird. I kinda admire them, but not enough.
PS3 and 4 controllers seem okay, but with my big hands, well... there's just no using them without my hands getting sore.
Therefore, I'd have to say that my favorite controllers are the x-box 360 controllers.
I don't think they work for everyone, but they're my personal favorite.

Unless a mouse counts. Then I'm going with a mouse!

Good steak. Don't even have to think about it; the pizza has too many carbs no matter what. I don't wanna get fat!
No, actually, I like steak. Even just good steak.

Would you rather be a One Piece character or a Sith Lord?

Yup. Semantics.
Is obesity as disease? Is ADHD a disease? Is depression a disease? Calling it a disease just makes it easier to avoid doing anything about it other than popping a pill, when it's honestly just a symptom of a greater problem.
Though... I don't know if ADHD is just a symptom of a greater prob....

Zurenriri :
You're one of two posts I've read so far that wouldn't have freedom of religion. It's interesting....
But yeah, there's one thing there: some countries wouldn't let you buy citizenship for people, and it's definitely possible for people of poor standing who would never amount to much to claim atheism just to join your country... for the free food and stuff....
But that being said, it's a fascinating idea. I don't personally think it could work, purely due to the human element, but... it's interesting.

This is a hot topic.
I'd say that it depends on your point of view. If you're Japanese, the bombs killed tons of your civilians and future fighters, forcing a dishonorable surrender. Not good from a Japanese standpoint.
If you're American, the bombs saved your way of life. The bombs saved your culture.
That's kind of the way I'd look at it.
Two cultures warring against each other, and one has to lose. I think that the US did a good job of showing how serious they were. From a war standpoint, it was a good tactic.
From a moral standpoint? Well, morality would favor a complete lack of war in the world... so anything in war can be seen as bad and horrid.
This is a hot topic.
I'd say that it depends on your point of view. If you're Japanese, the bombs killed tons of your civilians and future fighters, forcing a dishonorable surrender. Not good from a Japanese standpoint.

I always play as some version of Link, but I've been trying to get over that.... So, now I'm learning to do every character. If possible.

So I really thought mine was the best... and then I read someone played as Gordon Freeman... so yeah... mine isn't the best.
But, the last game I played was Tomb Raider, so I think I would definitely survive, since Lara Croft is pretty much an expert at survival.
Would YOU survive?
