They all have good stuff. I like BK for the breakfast foods and pies, McDs for the McFlurries and fries, and pretty much everything at Wendy's (but I might be a bit biased, since I used to work there and had no choice but to adapt to their food).

I personally like the Red Candle. It was the Fire Rod before they ever thought of the Fire Rod! Also, people would either yell at you if you burnt down their "doors" or give you money.

Welcome! I'm pretty new as well, and although I can't quite agree with you on the FPS genre (some are good, but it's just not my thing), I'm a big fan of RPGs. I would highly recommend Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy IV (it might be II on here, but look for the GBA version, Final Fantasy IV Advance, it has the most content), those were the games that introduced me to the genres of action-RPG and RPG. And if you have the plugin and want to play a good FPS, N64 Goldeneye 007 is one of the best ones out there, in my opinion. Enjoy!

I'm going to have to say platformers, with hack and slash being somewhat wrapped up in that genre. I just feel that it requires a much more dynamic approach than most other games, make one wrong move and it could be game over. Then again, I'm coming from the days of NES, so I'm probably grading more based on those than the more current systems. I like that more people are getting into gaming since it has become more accessible, but I'm not sure how I feel about so many games having things like dynamic walkthroughs, where the game plays the parts you can't get past for you, or where you can never actually die and have to start over (granted, save points are a godsend, and a necessity in most games these days!).
