thudricdholee : Well most of the time when I do go out people normally hold the door for me. I’m disabled so I can be a little slow sometimes moving around. If I am inside a place and I see someone I’ll hold the door for them. It’s just the right thing to do and even though some people may not appreciate an act of kindness like that, not everyone will be like that. Perhaps this woman was having a bad day or something. We’re all human after all.

Singelli : I will be honest I don’t read the bible but I do have an audio version of the bible. I admit I haven’t listened to it much lately. In all honesty I have a bit of a hard time understanding it. I do try as best as I can to maintain a relationship with God though. I make it a point to do prayers and pray to god daily. I have been through several difficult things over the years and there have been times where I have been very angry with God. I admit I have flaws and I am far from perfect.

Lately things have seemed like they may be starting to look up for my family and I but I haven’t exactly felt too comfortable about breathing a sigh just yet. The one thing I tell God every day other than thanking him for getting me through things is that I won’t take things for granted if things were to get better and if things started falling into place for my family and I.

One thing I have learned is that although God is powerful, things take time to materialize. The last couple of years have been very trying on my family and I and it’s taken a toll on me personally. I hope that things are going to turn for the better this year. One thing other than telling God that I wouldn’t take it for granted is that I want to use the experiences I’ve been through to help people.

Although I do get down on myself for some of my mistakes and such I think it’s important to use those mistakes to help someone else even if it is as simple as offering advice and a sympathetic ear.

orionfoxgibson : In all honesty I make it a priority to pray daily at least a couple of times throughout the day. I don’t go to church and don’t consider myself to be deeply religious but I do believe in god and try as best as I can to maintain a relationship with him. I will also admit to you that I am not perfect by any means nor do I claim to be. My relationship with god has had ups and downs and there have been times where I have been very angry with god due to things that were happening in my life at the time.

As time as gone on I’ve basically come to accept that those times where I have been angry with god are part of the ups and downs that anyone will go through in life. The times that I’ve been down certainly have not been enjoyable but even when things have seemed to be at the worst, my faith has gotten me through it.

In regard to what I ask for well I don’t really ask for material things and try to stick to necessities. The last couple of years have not been easy so I pretty much have been looking to god to help me get through everything. My faith has been tested more than once but like I said even when things have seemed to be at the worst god has been there for me and my family. I also pray for forgiveness and pray for those who are close to me who may be going through tough times. I know it’s unrealistic to expect everything to be totally milk and honey all the time for everyone in the world but to me the world would be a much better place if there wasn’t as much suffering or struggling in general. I admit I’m sentimental but I really think things would be better if there wasn’t as much hardship in the world.

I also know the feeling of wanting to be back at my best. I’m a writer and even though I have done well I don’t consider myself to be anywhere near what I could be or once was. Dealing with the everyday stresses of life sometimes affects my writing especially when things seem to happen all at once. Although writing for me is an outlet it can also be very stressful at times in addition to whatever else life throws at you. When I am working I just ask god to let me do the best I can do and to help keep the stress and any potential distractions at a minimum. I know that may seem a bit silly to some people but I am the type that throws himself into his work especially when things aren’t going well otherwise. In regard to my writing I hope to be able to eventually make a decent living one day. It’s something that I hope will happen eventually lord willing.

redskiller76 : First congratulations on your engagement. For me being someone who hasn’t had success when it comes to relationships the biggest thing for a successful relationship or marriage would be trust. There is not much worth while without trust.

I wish you the best of luck. Congratulations.

geeogree : First please know that what you’re going through is completely understandable. Even if a situation doesn’t directly involve you it can be extremely stressful on you and very difficult to deal with. Unfortunately I have been there plenty of times. In recent years my family has been hit with several blows that seem to have come all at once.

What has made it difficult to deal with is I frankly feel like I’m powerless and at my wits end. You’re not alone believe me.

One thing that has gotten me through things even though it’s been hard is I pray often. It may seem like something simple and modest that doesn’t really accomplish much on the surface but it has helped me get through things.

It’s perfectly understandable wanting to vent. I’ve learned keeping things bottled up only will make things worse in the long run. I hope things get better for you.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Singelli : Yes I have watched Columbo when it was still on television. I think it were the movies that I saw, (Not too sure how long the series ran for.) I do know that the series is on Netflix and it’s in my instant queue just haven't watched it yet. I’ve been splitting my time between that Hulu and a private app that I can watch YouTube on lately. I really wish Roku would get it’s own YouTube app. Hulu is starting to really compete with Netflix, it even is starting to get movies now. Between those two, Amazon and a couple of channels that I’ve paid for it’s a good time if you use streaming services.

thudricdholee : I don’t smoke but I won’t lie when I say that I went through several phases when I was younger and I have smoked and drank in the past. I really don’t try to judge anyone but I came to the realization in my early 20’s that it’s just not worth it to smoke or drink. I can’t judge anyone but I will say that prior to my teen years I was very much against smoking (Have lost a few family members to smoking related illnesses including cancer) I don’t know what happened with me when I was in my teens that I just didn’t think. I don’t know if it had to do with what I was going through or if it’s just a normal thing to go through several years where you don’t use your head as much as you should.

Thankfully I am healthy and am grateful that I got my wake-up call when I did. Unfortunately, there are some in my family who do still smoke and drink. Every time one of those commercials you referenced pops on the television I’ll say something along the lines of “I hope you’re listening to this” and such.

I can honestly say that I have a completely different head on my shoulders now than I did as a teenager even though I still have my regrets and things I wish I could redo. I am also a lot more neurotic than I was back then and just the thought of smoking or drinking makes me cringe. To the younger members of the Vizzed community trust me when I tell you it ain’t worth it and the older you get the less cool things seem. There are better things in life that’s for sure.

thudricdholee : I guess I am uniquely qualified to answer this one… I’ve had ten surgeries and was in and out of the hospital plenty when I was a kid. The longest I guess I’ve stayed in a hospital was a couple of months for my last major surgery.

It wasn’t so bad though because they would let me go home on the weekends so long as I was back before a certain time on Sunday nights. The reason why I was in the hospital that long had to do with my recovery and rehabilitation and such. I hated it with a passion at first and you go through various emotions in the process which make things worse because one minute you’re fine and the next you can be in tears because you’re not where you want to be and such and you miss your family. It’s happened to me more than once.

Eventually though as I started recovering and feeling better it was basically like checking into a hotel, leaving for the weekend and checking back in so I could keep rehabbing and such. Please don’t misunderstand me It may have been like checking into a hotel but I did not and still don’t like hospitals especially with all the stuff I’ve learned later in life in regard to the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

I was satisfied with how I was treated because I will freely admit I am not the easiest person to deal with and that is probably ten times worse when I’m laid up after surgery. They took good care of me but I was extremely happy when I was able to leave for good. I had one eye surgery after this but it’s unrelated to my disability. It’s been almost twenty years since this surgery and even though admittedly I don’t do what I should to take care of myself I have managed to stay clear of surgeries and hospitals. It’s something that I thank god for even though things may not be all milk and honey.

I hope you feel better. Best of luck to you.

It’s very frustrating I’ve been there. The one thing that I try to get across to the friends who I try to help is that I am not there to judge them. I am a man who admits he has flaws and is far from perfect. At the same time I try to give them a bit of perspective on things and hope that they see a way to turn themselves around.

It can be very frustrating and has been very demoralizing at times because although I admit I’m no saint and have made more than my share of mistakes, I have tried as best as I can to learn from it and become a better person. It is demoralizing from the standpoint of you really do everything you can to help someone you care about but sometimes no matter what you do it won’t get through to the person you’re trying to help.

It is one thing that has made me increasingly reclusive in recent years. I’m still polite and will be accessible to friends who reach out to me but at the same time I really value my privacy and try as best as I can to keep my stress at a minimum. Basically when things are normal I spend a lot of time working on material and doing stuff on the social networks as per my responsibilities and such. In the last several months I haven’t worked that much so I have been sporadic with my activity on social media, (Excluding Vizzed). It gets to the point sometimes where people will write to me or contact me somehow asking if I’m okay because they don’t see me being as active as I am when things are normal.

Sometimes I wish I could as they say crawl into a cave and be done with things. Maybe it’s one reason why I’m a writer, I’ve heard that some of the best writers were or are reclusive in some ways. I don’t have as much of a negative opinion of social media as I use to because I micro manage what I do and as I said have straightened myself out so that helps. When I’m not active though I just keep to myself unless something is going on that I have to keep an eye on. In regard to giving friends advice I’ll give it if someone asks for it or asks me for my opinion on something but I just try to keep to myself now of days.

Although it is frustrating when someone you’re trying to help doesn’t listen to you, one thing I try to remember is something my mother has said since I was a kid. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make em drink it. I do worry about the friends that I have tried to help over the years who didn’t listen to me but I have come to realize that it’s out of my hands. I do pray though that eventually they’ll get it.

Crazy Li : Yeah that is pretty much how they play it. I make no bones about it that I think that what they did with that firmware update was a conspiracy to drive up their sales. I’m surprised seeing as it doesn’t void any warranty getting a new HDD and installing it yourself that Sony themselves don’t sell them on the market retail. You’d think they’d look at something like that as a means of making even more money.

It’s sad that you really can’t trust anything in this world anymore without at least thinking twice about it. It does kind of make me wish that Nintendo was still a power and was able to compete with Sony adequately. In my experience Nintendo’s consoles have never broken down on me and have always been reliable. The Wii and what ever updated version of Wii they have now looks cute for what it is but imagine if Nintendo had the capability to compete with Sony and Microsoft in the same way they competed with Sega. I think at minimum it would give people another option if they don’t want to deal with the hit or miss routine that you have to deal with, with Sony and Microsoft.

As for me I’m probably going to get a new HDD in a week or two. Hopefully there won’t be any problems.

Crazy Li : Oh I completely understand what they do and why. I’m speaking as a consumer though who is leery of refurbished products. (Have purchased my share of refurbished electronics.) When it comes to the maker of the product though again given the price charged to the consumer I’d be insistent on making sure I got a new console because you never know what may happen with a refurbished one. About I want to say two years ago I bought a Sony DVD recorder that was refurbished off of eBay. The main reason I bought this recorder was it had the capability of recording up to twelve hours on a single disc. I cover a lot of Boxing cards per year so the ability to fit twelve hours on a disc appealed to me. I got the recorder and within a day of having it, it stopped functioning. I returned it to the business I bought it from and was refunded.

I’m not saying every refurbished product is like that, all I’m saying is it’s better to be cautious and insist on a new product. I’ll give you one more example. The first HD television I ever bought was a Sony Bravia 32” LCD that was capable of a 1080p Resolution. This television was great I loved it. After having it for about a year one night all of a sudden the LCD panel went on it. I had both a retail warranty on it as well as a warranty from Sony on it. I first went and tried to get it repaired at a Sony authorized service center. These people were very good to me but they told me that for what needed to be done it would cost less to just get a new television. I was a bit irked for a while because I live on a limited budget and it isn’t easy for me to just get up and get a new television most of the time. I use my television to do my writing so it is also a necessity to a degree. The people at the service center contacted Sony for me with my other warranty and explained everything. They sent me a brand new television free of charge. The only drawback was it was a television that could only get 720P resolution but to be honest I didn’t really notice a difference.

I don’t know if you’re covered under a warranty or if you’ll have to pay them but I would just make sure you’re getting a new console and see where it goes.
