You know what really grinds my gears?  When people complain or show negativity but don't do anything to actually change the situation.  If you don't like something or you don't like a situation, find a way to get out.  Don't just tell us how terrible it is.  Make the change.  Stop going on and on about how you don't like something or someone.

What also grinds my gears is when people say one thing and go do something else.  If you're going to claim to do something or know something, do it or know it.  Don't lie.

The folks that don't get why they're getting banned are the same folks who mess around in class and when they get called out and get in trouble, have no idea why they're being picked on by the teacher.

It's baffling.  Own up to what you say and do and things are fine.  I'm sure I've walked the line once or twice but I have never done anything to purposefully hurt someone.  It has all been simple truth and that's what probably has saved me once or twice.

Ban away, mods.  Do your thing.  You're mods because Davideo trusts you to make good decisions and keep the site in good working order.

Sex is a natural extension of physical attraction that goes with love.  It's okay.  Sex isn't bad or wrong or evil.  People put a lot of stress into how horrible it is.

And if someone dumps someone else for getting fat, good for both of them.  It's better to be out of a relationship where the other person does nothing for you than stay in it because you *should* and no one has any fun.  I applaud the guy or girl who says, "You're not attractive to me anymore.  I'm out."

That's just a good decision.

And love is understandable.  It's best if you can define it, explain it, and still enjoy the emotions and experiences that come with it.  If you can define your love to yourself and others, you're in a great spot.

I have a wee little bit of Japanese from Hawaii (and going to Japan on a few trips), a ton of Spanish and I am a native English speaker.  I love language and all the things it can do.  Other cultures and their languages have some of the coolest phrases that English doesn't have.  It was also great fun to know some basic Japanese when the Japanese came over because they were so busy trying their English.  I remember running down an "UP" escalator and trying not to bowl over Japanese girls.  I was shouting "Sumimasen!" in a high pitched voice and they were laughing.  It means, "Excuse me."  

They loved it when my wife and I tried to speak.  They loved trying their English on us even more.  We had little kids in Kyoto run up to us to say, "Hello," and "How are you?" and we'd answer them the way their school first conversation went.  It was great.

I was also an interpreter of Spanish in the Marine Corps and my wife speaks it at the hospital a lot.

I love communication.  Speaking other languages is the natural progression of that passion.

Check out the Coyote Series from Allen Steele.  It's pretty much what you're looking for.  Great writing mixed with good sci-fi and realistic events.

Humans are social animals by nature and we'd naturally band together with others to maximize our opportunity to survive.  Look around the world.  All cultures, some who have never contacted others, created villages and bands of people who work together to survive.  It's in our nature and it is what we're designed, as animals, to do.  

I would meet with other like-minded people and we'd put our skills together to survive.  

I think groups of people would band together and create villages and go from there.  A large group of people is trying to survive and other large groups of people are doing the same thing.  Looking at it from an economics standpoint, we'd specialize in certain requirements to live and trade with other city-states, either knowledge or goods.  That way, you now have a few groups of people who work together for the greater survival and culture grows from there.

I would trust no one until they proved themselves.  Trust isn't a big deal to me but I would rely on what others have to offer to bring things to the table.  It all depends.  Are we talking society falling apart right now or this is from the start of humankind, but we have the knowledge and language skills of now?

Girls aren't complex.  They're easy.  I'd say they're sometimes easier to handle than guys are.

Do those things and you'll be successful.  Again, there's no 'generic' girl and you can't expect the majority to really like one thing or another.  Guys are simpler so we can just 'like sports.'  But some really follow sports and can name 20 different college coaches (me) and some say they like sports but don't really turn the tv on and get into stuff.

Girls are all different.  Ask her what she likes.  Go from there.  She'll tell you the right answers to all your questions.  This is the fun of dating, learning all the new things the girl likes.

First, define romantic.  You mean "be romantic' like try to have sex with her or try to woo her?  Because different girls want and respond to this differently.  I wouldn't try to be romantic to a girl I just met because I just met her.  I have no idea what she likes and trying to go overboard with candlelight, cards, flowers, songs, all that nonsense, seems presumptive to me.  She may hate it all and I lose my chance.  A first, second, and third date are getting to know the other person.  Those are not romantic, they're business set-ups, doing something fun so you two can talk and interact.  No movies!

If I had love at first sight, I'd be in trouble.  My wife would be pissed.  But if I weren't taken, I'd do something about it.  I'd go talk to the girl and introduce myself and go from there.

It depends.  There's no right answer.  Some girls want to be sung to.  Some girls want flowers.  Some want you to embarrass yourself in front of their friends.  Ask her.  And then do what she asks.  That's the ticket.  But it's all different.  There's no 'right answer' that covers everyone.  The most romantic thing I did for my wife, when I dated her, was get up early and scrap the frost of her car in the morning when there was frost.  She thought it was wonderful.

Sweet, nice things?  Listen to her.  That's it.  Listen.  Remember.  Ask questions and pay attention to her.  That's as nice as it gets.  It's not about the things you do or what you buy, it's about spending time with HER.  But she's not the center of the universe.  Remember that.

Woman's favorite topics?  It depends.  Everyone's different.  What are guys' favorite topics?  Mine are different from yours.  Same thing with girls.

You know a girl likes you when she talks to you.  That's it.  If she interacts with you outside of class or school, she likes you.  End of story.

Steak: I like my steaks mooing.  Cool pink center, blood on the plate mixing in my mashed potatoes, barely flame kiss that sucker.  Just gray the outside, sear it a little, and that's it.  If you cook a steak enough, you make it flavorless.  The marbling and the low cooking are what make a steak right.

BURGER
I like my burgers medium well.  That meat can't be trusted unless it is cooked through.  However, order a well done burger at a restaurant and they give you a hockey puck.  I say medium well to take that last burned part off and make the meat still moist and juicy.

HOT DOGS
Cook that nonsense all the way through.  Burn 'em.

LAMB
See "steak"

PORK
Chops have to be cooked medium or so.  You can't rare them up but you can't scorch them and call that meal.

BACON
Burned and crispy.  You should be able to pick up a piece of bacon and not have any bend whatsoever.  Not blacked burned but it has to be upright when you stand it on end.  Cook that all the way through.  Limp, soggy bacon just is plain terrible and makes me hate the person who cooked it.

OTHER
Medium.  I'm not picky.

I don't remember you or anything like that so you're a clean slate as far as I'm concerned.

If you think you're the only person lying or making things up to impress other random, anonymous people on this website, you're wrong.  A massive percentage of the folks who participate lie, make things up, exaggerate, or otherwise inflate themselves because they care about what others think and they want the attention.  Most people do it.

If your life is uninteresting, instead of lying about, make a change.  Volunteer to help others, go pet dogs at a dog shelter for a while, do something with your life so you get some fun stories and have some cool experiences.  School, home, and pokemon gets unexciting after a while and pretty boring for the rest of us to read about so go out there and have some adventure.  

Find somewhere to volunteer and I promise things will get interesting really quickly, especially if you pick a hospital.  You'll have stories galore.

I had to look up "clopper" because I didn't know what that was.  Urban Dictionary changed my reality again.  Yeesh.

Bronies get a bad rap because my particular culture has our gender lines of what is generally accepted and anyone over the age of 15 enjoying (a) cartoons that are nice and pleasant and (b) ponies, is simply frowned upon.  Add the quiet, semi-sexualized and latent homosexual connections and you have people who aren't easily accepted.

The big question I always have is, "Why do you, Mr. 20 or 30 year old man, enjoy a program aimed at small children?"  It would be similar to watching a grown adult do a 10 piece easy puzzle, or color a picture with zero challenge.

My Little Pony shouldn't do anything for adults.  It's not mentally challenging, there's no social commentary.  It's just... ponies.

It makes no sense to me.  I don't hate of bronies.  They can do whatever as long as they're not abusing children but..... are they?  Weird, see.

mastergame : I'm really curious.  Can you please tell me what country you're from? I'm extremely curious to see how non jingoistic your people are.  It's easy to attack the United States.  How about you.  How free of sin are your people?

Did you know that since the Mexican government began interceding on cartel violence in Mexico, there have been 120,000 people killed, as of 2013.

This is Mexican on Mexican.  No Americans involved.  They may have some of our weapons and perhaps instructors for tactics but this is a Mexican-fought war.  There are no major or minor U.S. troop involvements.

120,000 killed, 27,000 missing, and the violence with which they carry these on make Americans look nice with our drones and bombs.  We generally don't torture 5,000 people to death on any given day.

But, you'll think what you'll think and you won't ever change your mind.  It's too bad.  The United States is usually the first to help other countries too.  Landslides in Venezuela in the late 90s?  We were there.  Haiti?  Americans showed up to help.  Somalia stopped its civil war when the U.S. Marines arrived in the early 90s.  

Hate on us.  That's fine.  But you probably enjoy our movies, our technology, our clothes, our products, and our culture.  I guess you have to take the bad with the good.

I don't know there is a single defining moment in my life.  Life is a long series of decisions and results that add to the current moment.  I could have had a defining moment in about a thousand different places and times that I know would have changed my situation if i went another direction.

If I hadn't made friends with a kid named Rich in 4th grade, I never would have gone to skating parties (he always made me go).

If I didn't meet her, I wouldn't have gone to the fair with her to see her parents' restaurant station

I'll cut to the point: I met my now wife, because she was dating a cook at the restaurant owned by Courtney's parents.  I quit that job to go out with her instead of being stabbed by the cook and we ended up getting married many years later.

So many different things could have changed my life and it's the small stuff that makes all difference.

I think the most difinitive thing to make me me was the Marine Corps.  They honed my warrior spirit and they helped develop me into the person I am today.

How many of you like games where there is no final objective and no ultimate "You beat the game"?

I like the games that let me create and build, like Sim City, and don't have a difinitive end of the game.  It makes things more interesting where I create the objectives and I have fun doing whatever I want.

Does anyone else like these kinds of games?

kirbmanboggle :  Card games don't mean anything to me but if we do a sports book with moneylines or point spreads I'm definitely in.  Do your research on how that all works (Yahoo sports and "Odds" under any given sport gives great explanations of the rules of the different ways to play the games) and let me know.

The only thing I'd ever bet on is my knowledge of sports teams and who does well and who doesn't.  Cards and all that?  Nope.

mastergame : Let's all calm down about the America thing you're pushing.  If you think the United States of America is the only country to fight wars just because and we do it because we like it and it's fun and we make people just like us, you're way off.

You're telling me the following countries are more politically sound and less inclined to kill people than the United States:

South Africa
Venezuela
Nigeria
Central African Republic
Russia
Colombia
Chad
Rwanda

I could go on if you like.

The U.S. fights in wars around the world partially to spread democracy and, ideally, peace and because we have fiscal interests.  However, ours is a country where you can criticize the government and not get dragged out in the street at 2:00 am and shot for saying a few bad things about Obama, or Bush, or whoever.  I don't see technicals (pick-up trucks with machine guns in the bed) or soldiers wandering around all the time like many other countries do.

Maybe outside the borders it seems like the U.S. fights at the drop of a hat but that's not how it is.  Don't blame us every time.

Number of posts is okay.  I think word count is way more important because you can sit there and only play elimination games for sports and states and diseases and countries and whatever else and pump some massive post numbers.

But, hey, it's important to you.  Congratz.  You spend a good deal of time on here to make it happen and it's a goal.

I was never taken with Myst after I saw the visuals.  It was nice and atmospheric and had good visuals at the time but... meh.  It didn't capture my imagination the way other games did.

DeJaVu from NES was one that did.  That guy was awesome as you're a detective solving your own history.  And the alligator in the sewer, very nice touch.  It was all about holding on to money and making decisions and taking notes.

Crimson Room was another one that was web-based.  That game was fun because it made things simple while challenging the sleuthing spirit.

I think music, humor, fun, and goofiness are taken by Monkey Island.  Those games are the kings of point and click.
