I have a serious problem with the people who go to church on Sunday and then display none of the qualities that Jesus and his followers do. They have the idea that going to church is enough and everything else they do is meaningless because they are "saved". I'm sorry, but confessing to Jesus on Sunday and then going out and purposefully sinning during the week doesn't work.

Exactly, you know your information well. And it is not only the Gospel of Matthew that shows this guideline. The Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians in Chapter 4 and The First Epistle of Peter in Chapter 3 also does this.

Witch burnings were mostly just ignorance really... but again, it was about power. Create an enemy and influence the general public into following you on a witch hunt. You gained power through that.

I'm not saying bad things haven't been done in the name of religion. What I'm saying is that religion is not the root cause of these things, but simply a vehicle that has been used for other purposes. That doesn't make all religions false and all religious experience invalid.

Well said. I would like to see someone point to me in the Holy Bible where Jesus said to kill, because from what I've read, it's the opposite.

Don't worry, though. If you don't want to become a Christian, that's your choice. I just do not believe it is the right one.

I can basically copy what you put in your post except I would replace "southern Baptist" with "non-denominational".

Not to start a genre war, but Death Metal generally has death growling, you usually only hear screaming in Melodic Death Metal. Also, Heavy Metal is the actual name of the music genre, and therefore is an umbrella term dividing into different genres, with each having their own subgenres.

I don't understand how someone can label their music "Christian" if it sounds like a demon is singing O.o Hardcore "Christian" Rock? pffft, that makes me laugh, the genre itself contradicts the "message" they're trying to send. I mean. . . how can it be Christian??? For YEARS rock music has been panned by the Christian community for having been evil. . . and now suddenly it's NOT? Someone please explain to me, WHY?

More on topic, the harsh sound of a music genre does not necessarily make it "demonic". On the contrary, members of bands such as Demon Hunter and Mortification are very devoted to Christianity. War of ages has several songs about wanting to be with Jesus and/or needing him. Horde is in fact Anti-Satanic, and the band has even received death threats from Anti-Christian Black Metal bands. The point I am trying to make is that even if a genre of music seems scary to you or not appealing, it doesn't necessarily make it unfit to preach the word of God, God can put His Word through anything, and some people have become familiar with Christianity through these types of bands. Besides, a sound can't be evil, it's the message that makes the music evil, and if a band is trying to send a Christian message, then there's nothing wrong with that, regardless of what genre the band is. I'm sure there could be a soft rock band about Satanism, but it'd sound "angelic".

I call it soda, although I don't always say "soda". If it's something such as Coca-Cola, I prefer to call it "cola", but if it's something such as Mountain Dew, that's when I'll always say "soda". Slightly off topic, but root beer and orange cream soda tastes good also.
