Roberta Williams, creator of the fairly well-known King’s Quest series, set out to make a truly terrifying experience in her graphic adventure Phantasmagoria. The idea was to innovate the point and click genre with multiple solutions to puzzles while at the same time frightening the player with gruesome imagery in the form of CG scenes and Full Motion Video movies. However, what was supposed to be an awesome PC adventure for the ages turned out to be an interactive horror movie with a few watered down graphic adventure elements tossed in. Throughout the game’s seven chapters, you’ll take the role of a successful writer named Adrienne. She and her loving husband, Don, recently moved into a creepy, old mansion. Adrienne doesn’t really like the place, but Don can’t get over the bargain he landed. Of course, that bargain may have something to do with the fact that all the townspeople claim the house is haunted. Well, one day Adrienne stumbles upon a spooky chapel hidden behind a wall and releases “something†from a box. Coincidentally, Don goes from lover to violent jackass the next day. Gradually more and more is revealed about the history of the mansion and what could have happened to Don. Most of the game is build up for the climatic final chapter, but there are still plenty of chances to add creepiness into the mix. Phantasmagoria can be pretty freaky at times. You’ll notice subtle changes to spook you like objects missing, bizarre messages appearing on your laptop, or a fortune telling machine that plays eerier music as the game progresses. Other times the game will be more clear in its scare tactics. As Adrienne walks down into the dank basement of the building, she can hear someone sobbing loudly. You’ll keep exploring and hearing the crying until you find a rusty pair of shackles in some sort of caged area. Just the thought of what could have been done here gives you the chills. Or then there’s the unforgettable seance scene where an old lady vomits green slime that ends up talking to you - uuugh! Adrienne will also be the recipient of several gruesome visions of the past master of the house. She’ll fiddle around with some decrepit tools in the broken down green house only to be transported to the sight of a man shoving a garden trowel down his wife’s throat. Or you’ll look into some old flip book device and unexpectedly witness a someone set ablaze. But none of those gory scenes match up to death scene when Adrienne’s head is split in two from some nasty claws that scrape away her flesh. And remember, this is FMV meaning it’s done with live actors! Is your stomach churning yet? But probably the rape scene was the most controversial of all. Even if it’s incredibly phony in that Adrienne's nightgown is lifted up for the wicked act only to fall back down right before the primitive “grinding†occurs, this brief clip got the game in some big trouble. But one thing I love about the story is that it finds time to break up the spooky atmosphere with comic relief. Most will come from the two reoccurring comedic characters, Cyrus and Harriet. The former is a big lug with the heart of a child and speaks with a goofy, soft southern accent. But you just have to love Harriet with her pointy lawn gnome hat and excellent introductory scene. After Cyrus begs Adrienne to come to the barn, we find Harriet stuck in a hole on top of the small stable area. Her legs can been seen dangling as she screams, “HELP! HELP! THIS HURTS!†in a whiney voice. After helping her, she claims she’d make a great housekeeper while using her hand as a tissue. Now that’s hilarious! There are other smaller scenes of humor too such as the fat real estate agent that after being proven wrong exclaims, “So sue me!†But in all honesty, the acting could have been better. I mean, you will find the story sequences charming and spooky, but that doesn’t veil that these people really can’t act. Adrienne seems to deliver her lines with a puzzled emotion no matter what she says, and this is pretty bad considering you’ll be spending all your time with her. The rest of the cast tends to be on the same level, but their lack of scenes when compared to Adrienne makes it less apparent. On a side note, that laugh Don’s actor makes at the end of chapter six is the worst sound in the world. I can’t believe people complain about the Tidus and Yuna laugh scene in Final Fantasy X after witnessing a man create that. Maybe the alleged $4 million budget was blown on the countless hours of filming or the gore effects, but Sierra really could have found better actors (see The Beast Within). Unfortunately during all these interesting story scenes, there isn’t much gameplay going on. The point and click interface of the average graphic adventure has been watered down and over simplified for the game. Rather than having commands like Look, Pick Up, Open, or Talk, we’re given just a simple cursor that turns red when a object can be interacted with. So then most of the time you’ll find yourself wandering around the area and moving your cursor to just find something to look at. While this may not sound so bad, it does get pretty annoying as the screens are overstuffed, only a handful of junk per room can trigger a scene, and very few items are important enough to even bother with. For whatever reason, someone decided it’d be a great idea to ditch more important gameplay and packed in tons of useless FMV onto the seven discs. These include stupid actions like putting on make-up, eating something from the refrigerator, sitting on a couch, or turning a door knob six times before finally saying, “Ugh! It’s locked.†Six times! Well, in Adrienne’s defense she does at one point turn a door knob three times before opening it, so she can’t be too smart. And we won’t go into when she randomly decides to break a hole in the wall. Hopefully you’ll just hit that skip button on those unnecessary scenes and find your way to the actual puzzles. The only problem here is that there aren’t many and they’re pretty easy. For example, you find a telescope lens on the road. On the next screen there’s a telescope, and you just know it’s missing a lens before even looking. Phantasmagoria also boasts multiple ways to solving puzzles, but it’s not interesting. At one point you need a holy symbol. You can either get a cross or rosary beads. The latter are fairly easy to find, but the cross requires you to go into town and trade in an antique pin before knowing that you even need a holy symbol. Or earlier you find a key jammed in the other side of a locked door. You can either put a newspaper under the door, poke the key out and slide the paper with the key towards you or poke the key out and use a fireplace poker, which you’ll be guaranteed to have by then, to grab the key. What’s the point? Unlike most graphic adventures, this one doesn’t have a score, so it’s not like you can earn more points doing it the hard way. It’s just a waste that they actually recorded extra footage for Adrienne to use multiple items on the same puzzles. That was precious disc space that could have been used for more puzzles! Even with the effortless puzzles and waste, the biggest insult has to be the Hint Master lurking at the bottom left corner of the screen. Simply clicking on this crimson skull gives you painfully obvious clues to already unchallenging puzzles. These hints include lines like, “There’s a useful tool in the dinning room†or “There’s something different in the conservatory.†The game warns you not to call for the Hint Master’s help too often or you’ll spoil the game, but I think it’s a little too late for that. Luckily there is light at the end of the tunnel. The final chapter simply rocks. The entire thing is so go!@#$! fast-paced with one pissed off demon out for blood. The great thing is that you’re in control the entire time. You don’t just watch Adrienne save her own hide; you have to guide her. I mean, if you’re watching a bunch of horny teenagers be mowed down by a man with a machete while you’re on the couch eating popcorn, you’re in no control and you won’t get the same feeling. In this last chapter of Phantasmagoria, you’ll feel obligated to help out Adrienne. It’s the control over this character that makes you begin to sweat as the slimy beast slowly comes to kill you. You’ll be nervous knowing that you have to stop it. While all I was really doing is pointing and clicking, I couldn’t help but feel satisfied by the finale. With all these FMV footage, you have to remember something. Back in 1995, this was pure unmatched beauty. Because of the graphical appeal, Phantasmagoria’s secondary goal after telling a horror story was to bedazzle the gamer with exquisite visuals. This is why we lost puzzles to pointless scenes like petting a dog or a cranky old man scrubbing his boat. We’re supposed to be in awe at the FMV accompanied by the computer generation backgrounds. While a bit grainy, you really can’t get much better with FMV. The backgrounds themselves are simply beautiful, but unfortunately lack animation (we’re talkin’ none). But when you put them together, it’s pretty ridiculous. Essentially Sierra shot footage of actors and then pasted them on backgrounds. The results make the FMV look jittery and sometimes you’ll notice problems when characters are interacting with objects that aren’t really there. It looked great then, but now it’s outdated; especially the horrendous midi format music that tries to be atmospheric music. It’s just pitiful. All in all Phantasmagoria was a horror movie that entangled you with its slow build up and explosive final chapter. But that doesn’t really mean you’ll want to trudge through the game itself. The watered down graphic adventure aspects make this ride a breeze and also an insult with the inclusion of the Hint Master (did people really need him?). In addition, there are just way too many useless scenes that could have been money well spent on more chills or thrills. You’ll probably beat the game in under three hours and wonder where the hell the gameplay was on those seven discs. If you play it, just try to enjoy the FMV movies, but don’t expect much else. If you’d like a great FMV graphic adventure, then I’d recommend Sierra’s superior The Beast Within. Its first of six discs probably has more gameplay than this whole damn package! ~ Fate OF A Butterfly ~ By LunaRoseAngel
Observing the struggles Of a young butterfly Was a man quietly sitted, In an attempt to emerge From its little cocoon. Appearing thus was an opening At one end of its cocoon Making young butterfly struggle In a fight to step into the world, Forcing its way hour upon hour. Feeling deeply sorry for its plight Was he, deciding to help poor butterfly. So with a pair of scissors he went, Snipping open its little cocoon Making young butterfly emerge, To be disappointed by wrong expectation. For poor butterfly's body was swollen With small shrivelled wings. A continued watch he kept, Holding strong his expectations That poor butterfly's wings May spring forth its shape, Completing its transformation To hence forth fly away Into bright sunny atmosphere. It happened not, quite disappointingly Making butterfly crawl on young feet With swollen body and shrivelled wings For the rest of its miserable life And not for once managing to fly. Poor foolish man he proved out to be With such misguided kindness and haste Understanding not the nature of butterfly. For the restricting cocoon and struggle That's required of young butterfly To make it forth through tiny opening Was nature's way of forcing fluid From young butterfly's body into its wings, Expanding them thus for flight preparation. ------ A late summer day, Very far away. The sound of thousands of bugs in the ditch, The fog, settling around, makes your skin crawl and itch. The cool night air around you; Birds chirping, all around you. The leaves rustling on the trees; Gives speech to the breeze. Smells of freshly cut grass; Yard lights glinting off of glass. An old, ancient farm, going modern; Like an old, ancient sovereign. Beauty and words, cannot describe; The magic, on a farm, that is alive. The blue of the world, The black of the world, The stars of the world, The secrets of the world, All on a farm. Bats fly by, there’s no denying, That tonight, bugs will be dying. Now dark clouds cover the sky, Kissing the bright afternoon sunshine good-bye. ~ Listening Soundtrack: Track 1 - Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin (2:26) - Led Zeppelin lll ~
Ah, ah, We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming! On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore. Ah, ah, We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore, Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords. On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore. So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins, For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing. ~ Listening Soundtrack: Track 2 - Furious Angels - Rob Dougan (5:56) - Furious Angels
Like a sentence of death, I got no options left, I've got nothing to show now. I'm down on the ground, I've got seconds to live, and you cannot go now. 'Cause love, like invisible bullet shot me down and I'm bleeding, yeah I'm bleeding and if you go, furious angels will bring you back to me. They will bring you back to me. You're a dirty needle, you're in my blood and there's no cure in me, yeah. I wanna run, like the blood from a wound to a place you can't see me. 'Cause love, like a blow to the head has left me stunned and I'm reeling, yeah I'm reeling and if you go, furious angels will bring you back to me. You're a cold piece of steel between my ribs and there's no saving me, yeah. And I can't get up, from this wet crimson bed that you made for me. That you made for me! 'Cause love like a knife in the back has cut me down and I'm bleeding, yeah I'm bleeding, and if you go, angels will run to defend me, to defend me. 'Cause I can't get up, I'm as cold as a stone, I can feel the life fade from me. I'm down on the ground, I've got second to live, and what's that waits for me, oh that waits for me! 'Cause love like a sentence of death, left me stunned, and I'm reeling, yeah I'm reeling, and if you go, furious angels will bring you back to me. ~ Garden Of Eden ~ By LunaRoseAngel The garden of eden, was made By God,Adam, the first man, to ever trod. Beautiful trees, and plants grew there, Adam was happy, without a care. Tree of Life, and Knowledge too, Planted, in the garden grew. The tree of Knowledge, God forbid, Do not touch, or he would rid. A lost paradise would occur, A magic kingdom, all a blur. One day when Adam fell asleep, God took a rib, made Eve so sweet. Satan came in form of a snake, Tempted Eve, for goodness sake. She ate the apple ripe and red, gave it to Adam, Adam was fed. ~ Fire In The Fog ~
------- Warmth sprayed through misty leaves. birds splashed, in cramped forest quarters. those listening laughed. it echoed behind me, beyond me, as smoke fled upward, to the face of a sneezing sun the dust rose in the dawn. I stood in wonder, confused by the crowd, the laughter in the choking air, how they all seemed so aware of what was coming, what started the fire in the fog. Warmth sprayed into every-what. birds splashing through damp branches, in cramped forest quarters. those listening laughed. first angrily, then behind me. beyond me as smoke fled upward, to the face of a sneezing sun. what fires in the fog, had the mountain-men begun? Me the coward in wonder. confused by the crowd. the laughter in the choking air. how they all seemed so aware. ---------- On paper wings they hold the air and whisper voiceless in their passage. Wheel and dart they brush my hair as though to call to me. On bleak blue skies the shape of night their movements make the seconds age grow old inside me with their flight noiseless o’er the sea. With quiet motions I spread my arms smooth the wrinkles, caress each fold hearing paper’s crackled alarms as night envelopes me. Once I turn and look at you. To see you stand, your eyes so cold releases me to fall with dew noiseless o’er the sea. ------- Warmth sprayed through misty leaves. birds splashed, in cramped forest quarters. those listening laughed. it echoed behind me, beyond me, as smoke fled upward, to the face of a sneezing sun the dust rose in the dawn. Over the years, Nintendo's two hottest commodities have been Mario and Tetris.
Why did the NES, Super NES, and N64 sell so well? Mario. And why did the Game Boy sell so well? Tetris. Both of these titles are known throughout the video gaming world. Dr. Mario is an ingenius product that can only be gotten by combining these two titles into one unique game. In Dr. Mario, the world famous plumber hangs up his wrench and plunger and takes on the role of a doctor trying to destroy the viruses that would otherwise cause harm. Dr. Mario's graphics are nothing all that flashy, and in fact, are very basic, but that's common in the puzzle gaming scene. The main graphics are composed of the pills that Mario tries to defeat the viruses, as well as the viruses themselves. The simplicity of Tetris returns, as there are only three shades of colors that are used throughout the majority of the game. Your job is to match up the colors so that the same colors are lined up in rows vertically or horizontally. While this seems simple at first, it can sometimes get complicated by the fact that in certain lighting, it can often times get difficult to distinguish between one shade and another. Other than that, there is very little substance to the graphics, though Nintendo does manage to spice it up here and there. For example, in the bottom corner, the viruses that you've yet to kill constantly make funny faces at you, until the right alignment of pills leads to their demise. While the tunes were okay, I found it best to just set the music to off (which many Tetris gamers often do when playing that game). In addition to the two musical options, there were a few other sound effects, though not many. Every time you moved the pills a certain way, like the blocks in Tetris, you'd hear a sound. One thing that I liked were the sounds that told you how well you did. For example, there were different sounds when you killed one virus as opposed to two, and the sounds change with each increase of virus killed. One cool effect was when you killed four or more viruses. While this is very rare and will not happen often, anyone who manages to do so will get treated to the Super Mario Bros. invincibility music. When it comes to puzzle games, the most important thing is definitely the gameplay. Like Tetris, this game was simple, yet addictive. The basic object was to line the pills up in the proper order so you can destroy all the viruses and move onto the next level. While this may not sound very exciting, it can become quite fun after a while. The pills were all the same length, differing only in color. Anyone who has played Tetris would immediately get the hang of this game's controls, which couldn't be more simple. Press left or right on the D-Pad to move the pill and press A to rotate it one way and B to rotate it the other way. The learning curve is very short, which is why this game can be enjoyed by almost anyone. This is definitely one of the most unique games you'll come across. Whoever decided to put Mario into a Tetris type environment is truly creative. Dr. Mario is fun to play, perhaps because it can be played by anyone at any skill level. Younger gamers will enjoy seeing Mario and trying to kill the viruses that are antagonizing them on the lower levels, while older gamers might prefer to skip to the higher levels or the higher speeds after getting used to the game's controls. Due to the fact that it never ends, Dr. Mario has a ton of replay value. While beating the game on level 20 on low speed or on level 5 on high speed might produce an amusing ending where the viruses are sleeping with the fishes, the game continues even after what you may consider the end, basically until the viruses get to an amount that is so high that it is impossible. Pressing on to higher levels is always possible as you develop your skills. Overall, Dr. Mario is a good game. While it doesn't have any flashy graphics or sounds, it still manages to captivate the gamer with its addictive gameplay and the combination of Mario and Tetris in one package. ~ Poem: I Care ~ By LunaRoseAngel
I’m sending this to let you know I think of you each day, And pray for your recovery, Hoping soon you’ll be okay. You’re going through a lot right now; You’re treatments can be trying; Remember while you do them It’s your problem you’re defying. Hold on to your positive attitude, And when things get hard to bear, Know that I am here for you; Remember that I care. And when you’re well and flourishing, Look back and realize, You learned what you were made of; That’s a reward that satisfies! I believe in you; You can do it! Peter 2:24 - He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. ~ To My Future Love ~ By LunaRoseAngel
Hey Future Love, I didn’t know how to start this letter Dear, or hello, couldn’t decide which sound better. I went for the informal because I’m not trying to impress Try to make it laid back so there’s no need to stress. I know I don’t know your name—but someday I hope We’ll meet on the street and no longer be alone. Sometimes I gaze up at the stars and imagine how it will be— Where will it happen? Will you just turn and look at me? Will we discover the meaning of “love at first sight?†Perhaps it will take one or two nights— Laying out under the stars and discovering the mysteries Asking questions that have eluded the minds of many for centuries. Maybe it will be our laughter that floats in the air— That makes us turn in the right direction, at that moment, right there. Our eyes will meet, and it will be just like in a movie We’ll smile at each other, and you’ll ask me out for a cup of coffee. Oh the possibilities, they haunt me in my sleep All the secrets I want to share but for now I keep. Each poem I write makes me somehow feel closer to you Based on emotions that I know to be true. When life gets me down, I look up at the night sky For a long moment, I’m silent but eventually I’ll sigh— Someday we’ll meet, and it’ll be like we had never been apart Because you know when you’ve found the one That completes your heart. I look at the letter, tears roll down my cheeks I rest my head on my pillow, and try to sleep. Slowly the letter slips from my hands— Tumbles to the ground, but the wind has other plans. Out the window, it soars through the night Travels the world in its magnificent flight— And gets caught in a branch, outside his room; Where inside he is dreaming of the love to come soon. Here's another poem that was written by me that was another take on how I felt I have alot of other romantic poems that I have written in the past people been telling me you should make a career out of being a poet you have alot of talent.
~ Purest Feeling ~ By LunaRoseAngel Eyes, resting on my face It makes me feel What my empty, ragged heart is surprised at So surprised, oh, so surprised The feelings that tap on the heart's door We always wanted to feel like this Dreamt of it, a far-off fantasy A beautiful, soaring thing, Delicate like a dried flower, or A dragonfly's wing Pure like a wisp of a rose fragrance Breathe it in, so sweet, so full, so close So natural and easy Like nothing else Like nothing that can be seen or touched The pain that can be felt Like streaks of anger and rejection on the fragile spirit Is dulled Dulled, oh, so dulled By just the sound of your words. ____________________ |

Title: Love It
Writer: LunaRoseAngel Category: Romantic Note: This is a romantic poem that was made when I was in love with a certain guy I knew but never told him that I loved him I should of I guess we all make mistakes he was a sweet guy i'll never forget him. ---- I feel your hands in my hair. I feel your breath on my neck. I feel your body pressed so close to mine. I feel your lips on my throat. I feel your hands move to my back and your lips work their way up to mine. I feel you and I love it. I hear you say you love me. I hear you whisper my name. I hear you tell me I'm the only one for you. I hear your breath in my ear. I hear your soft snores as I fall asleep. I hear you and I love it. I see you as I run into your arms. I see your face break through my world of darkness. I see you fight away my fears. I see you wipe away my tears. I see you're in love with me. I see you and I love it. I taste your lips. I taste your tongue. I taste your throat as I kiss it. I taste your love. I taste your passion. I taste you and I love it. I smell your colone as I hold you. I smell your shampoo as I hug you. I smell your toothpaste as I kiss you. I smell your excitement as you cuddle me. I smell the smell I've been waiting so long to smell. I smell you and I love it. I feel you. I hear you. I see you. I taste you. I smell you. I do all these things and I love it. I'm finally with you. You're finally here. I love it. I love you. I smell the smell I've been waiting so long to smell. I smell you and I love it. I feel you. I hear you. I see you. I taste you. I smell you. I do all these things and I love it. I'm finally with you. You're finally here. I love it. I love you. ____________________ |

~ Do You? ~ I bought you A mockingbird - I thought it would be Romantic like the song It was young - too Young so I left a libation Of syrup and water on the asphalt Instead of the rum it demanded I put it in a box Where you used to keep shoes Before you wore them I gave it worms to eat And blackberries and chokecherries and a thimbleful Of nectar for it to sip I wrapped it in a tea towel To keep it warm for the night - the many Nights before you came Back - it seemed like years And was only a week The box wrapped in paper only chirped For three days You didn't much like it The mockingbird - the smell of decay Off-putting when you tore the paper Its chestnut-grey wings outstretched Like a crucifixion and the nectar Sticking its feathers to the tea towel But after you threw it Into the furnace you smiled And said you loved me ~ Do You? ~ I bought you A mockingbird - I thought it would be Romantic like the song It was young - too Young so I left a libation Of syrup and water on the asphalt Instead of the rum it demanded I put it in a box Where you used to keep shoes Before you wore them I gave it worms to eat And blackberries and chokecherries and a thimbleful Of nectar for it to sip I wrapped it in a tea towel To keep it warm for the night - the many Nights before you came Back - it seemed like years And was only a week The box wrapped in paper only chirped For three days You didn't much like it The mockingbird - the smell of decay Off-putting when you tore the paper Its chestnut-grey wings outstretched Like a crucifixion and the nectar Sticking its feathers to the tea towel But after you threw it Into the furnace you smiled And said you loved me ____________________ |

~ Chapter 4 ~ Up next was the storage area. It was a lot dimmer than Jack would like. He stared up into the vast warehouse that he had come into from the transitional chamber. The place was huge and a lot scarier than he was accustomed to. Hundreds, thousands, of crates must had occupied the vast warehouse, stacked in precarious piles to the ceiling dozens of feet overhead. The lights above flickered and went out for a second. Jack froze up, didn't take another step, and hoped and prayed that the lights would come back on. God must've been listening for once. The lights came back on, but not as bright as he would have liked. Jack wished he had packed a flashlight as he continued on in between the cramped confines of the crates. Why was it always narrow passageways and poor lighting? Was that just a side effect of Hell being there? Or at least those that worked for Hell? Did they get paid? How do you pay a demon? Souls? Virgin blood? Well, Jack and Kyra would be no use to them if that was the case. He decided good old fashioned lead checks would be enough. Jack came around another corner and paused. He found himself standing in a 'doorway' that led into a large, open squarish area. In the middle of all that open space sat a chaingun. It looked beautiful. There was only a little blood on it. Jack chewed on his lip in indecision and stared intently at the gleaming chaingun. There was even a box of ammo for it...he glanced apprehensively at the three other darkened openings along the walls of crates and then stared up at the edges of the tops of the crate walls: these particular piles weren't up the ceiling. They remained empty, stygian maws of gaping abyssal content, but that didn't mean it would stay that way. All his instincts told him it was a trap, had to be. But...having a chaingun was pretty damned tempting. He was pretty sure he could survive whatever it was they were planning on throwing at him. Holding his breath, he dashed forward into the square and snatched up the chaingun. Just as he assumed, there was a trap. And, as luck would have it, the chaingun was fully loaded and ready for action. And it needed to be, because suddenly Zombies, Imps and Demons were pouring out of every possible location they could have been hiding. And even a few Jack would swear in a court of law weren't possible to hide in. He pointed the six barrels of the chaingun into the thickest mass of the creatures, a huge amount of roaring, gun toting Zombies prepping to blast his ass into oblivion, and squeezed the trigger. The chaingun kicked to life with an equally loud roar and began turning the rushing monsters into bloody, chewed up meat. Jack could feel several impacts from bullets that were finding their mark on his armor and a few too close fireballs cut burning grooves through it as well. Once a decent amount of undead bastards had been properly put down, he swung the barrel around in a wide arc, blasting huge holes into a group of Demons that were advancing far too rapidly on him. One fell, two...three...a shotgun blast took him in the gut. He grunted, stumbled, but didn't feel any burning pain. Just blunt. The armor had held. No one knew how long that would stay and he wasn't willing to bet on it. He turned the blaze on a few other Zombies wielding shotguns and blew their heads clean off. Another pistol shot glanced off his shoulder pad. Jack cursed as the chaingun ran dry. He dropped it, whipped out the shotgun and blasted an Imp away. He continued working the pump action, blowing off Imp and Zombie heads until the thing ran dry. As luck would have it, the Forces of Hell ran dry at that exact moment as well. The last Imp corpse dropped with a resounding thud and all was silent. Save for the sound of reloading. A sound that Jack had come to love, almost as much as he loved the sound of things dying and bullets flying. He shoved another seven shells into the pump action, scooped down, retrieved and fed the second box of chaingun ammo into big, silver gun and began retrieve spare clips and shells and even a few grenades from the Zombie corpses. "Jack." Jack jumped at the sudden voice in his head. He knelt and gathered the shotgun shells he'd scattered. "Yeah, babe?" he replied, keeping an eye out for survivors or wanderers. "Just ran into a pair of those Nightmare Imps you were talking about." Kyra said. "So, by your report...I imagined you survived the attack." "No, honey. I'm being held down by a pair of demonic things." Jack chuckled. "Hmm, speaking of a pair of things...I don't supposed you've reconsidered that threesome thing?" he asked, finishing his sweep of the battlefield and plunging deeper into the storage area. "I told you, sweetie, don't really feel like that." Kyra replied. "Yeah...how about if it was girl on girl and I just watched?" Jack suggested. "Hmm...she'd have to be hot." "Well, yeah." "Ha. You find me a hot, pale, skinny redhead that will go down on me you've got yourself a deal." "Fun, fun. I'll get right on it when-s***!" Jack narrowly leapt back to avoid a way bigger than normal jaw full of way bigger than normal teeth. "Honey! You okay!" Kyra's voice sounded distant and faraway as Jack took another step back and fell on his ass. He brought the shotgun up and pounded out a round. Blood flew, but the beast kept coming. He pounded out another round, all the while trying to dig in his heels and push his ass backwards to avoid getting his no-no area chopped off. More blood, but not enough. Not enough damage. Jack finally brought this new killer thing down with another pair of slug shells. What appeared to be a Nightmare Demon crashed to the floor, nearly crushing his feet. "I'm here, honey. New thing. Nightmare Demon." Jack reported breathlessly. He scrambled to his feet and shoved a few fresh shells in. "Affirmative." Jack pressed on, determined to get through the godforsaken warehouse. "Well, good news is I'm almost to the laboratories. You?" he asked. "I'm getting through Water Purification. That should lead to the main entrance of the labs. You'll be going in the back way...we should be meeting up in little over fifteen minutes." Kyra replied. "Alright. See you then." Jack snapped up his shotgun and slugged a shell into another moaning Zombie with its back to him as he turned another corner. These guys were so stupid. He wondered if being dead or isolated for over a year with no Humans to hunt and kill was dulling them. Then again, these new Nightmare creatures seemed to be popping up with increasing frequency. And on that note...Jack ducked a fireball as he rounded another corner and spotted two things: a Nightmare Imp and an elevator. The Nightmare Imp was standing in between him and the lift. Jack raised the shotgun and pounded out three rounds, only managing to take another gut shot that sent him stumbling, doubled over in pain. Those bastards really could really pack a punch. He caught his breath, then approached the elevator. He kicked the Nightmare corpse for good measure as he walked by, and screamed when it reached out and grabbed at him. Jack shoved the barrel into the thing's face and squeezed the trigger, splattering its brains all over the place. He hit the button and leveled his shotgun at the doors as they split open. Nothing inside but blood and a corpse. Wonderful company. Jack stepped in and hit the up button. The doors closed for a few seconds, then opened again to reveal a huge corridor that curved out of his line of sight. The walls were lined with openings that led into small, slanted corridors that ended in storerooms. Jack squinted, hesitating. "This looks familiar..." he murmured. "What does?" Kyra replied. "Hmm? Oh. Big corridor curving out of sight, lots of offshoot corridors. Storage area." Jack replied. "Hmm. I remember a place like that on Deimos. Fun, fun. Looks like the UAC recycles. Be careful, lots of tight spaces there." Kyra advised. "Roger that." Jack plunged into the vast, flickering corridor and switched to his chaingun. Something tickled his combat senses and he stuck close to the right wall, moving in between several large boxes. The flickering light wasn't doing much for his eyes. Jack hesitated as he thought he heard something not so distantly. A sharp snort. Then something scraping...he licked his lips and pressed on, hurrying a bit. He wanted to know what was waiting just beyond that line of sight around the corner...waiting to kill him. And then he found it. Back to the wall, he peered around the corner and spotted a Hell Knight guarding the secondary entrance into the labs. And it was looking at him in that way that things with no eyes look at you. It issued a roar and hurled a ball of green plasma at Jack. He dodged behind a large crate and raised the chaingun, opening fire and spraying the huge thing's position with gunfire. It roared as small fountains of blood gushed out from impact wounds. Jack felt the crate shudder under the impact of another blast. He cursed and popped up, sending out another spray of gunfire that caused the Hell Knight to stumble. "You bastards are getting weak!" Jack shouted as he dodged another ball of plasma. The world abruptly turned sideways as something powerful picked him up and threw him sideways into the nearest wall. His first thought was: barrel. His second thought came out through his mouth: "Two can play at that game." he growled, groped for his shotgun and tracked the Hell Knight. Which was now on the move. His vision slid back into focus and he spotted the trio of barrels the Hell Knight happened to be walking past...he squeezed the trigger. The explosion was so violent it knocked him back a few feet and out for a few seconds. But when he came to it was still raining Hell Knight bits and toxic goo. Jack painfully crawled to his feet and hurried forward. He hit the access button on the transitional door and stepped through. One step closer to figuring out just what the hell was in the Power Core... ~ Chapter 4 ~ Up next was the storage area. It was a lot dimmer than Jack would like. Thanks I have alot of hopes with going that direction thank you for your nice comments am glad that you like my poetry so much, who knows really maybe I will become a famous poet but of course that takes time not every poet became famous right away.
~ Coda ~ Maybe it was jet lag, maybe not, but I was smoking in the kitchen: six, barely, still dark: beyond the panes, a mix of summer storm and autumn wind. I got back to you; have I got you back? What warmed me wasn't coffee, it was our revivified combustion. In an hour, gray morning, but I'd gone back to my spot beside you, sleeping, where we'd stayed awake past exhaustion, talking, after, through the weeks apart, divergent times and faces. I fell asleep, skin to warm skin, at daybreak. Your breasts, thighs, shoulders, mouth, voice, are the places I live, whether or not I live with you. Fog hid the road. The wipers shoved back torrents across the windshield. You, on knife-edge, kept driving. Iva, in the back seat, wept histrionically. The crosscurrents shivered like heat-lightning into the parent's shotgun seat. I shut up, inadept at deflecting them. A Buick crept ahead at twenty-five an hour. "Why aren't we passing him? My Coke spilled. The seat's wet. You guys keep whispering so I can't hear." "Sit in the front with us, then." "No! I'll get too hot. Is the fan on? What time is it? What time will it be when we get there?" Time to be somewhere else than where we are. "What do we have? I guess we still don't know." I was afraid to say, you made me feel my sectioned heart, quiescent loins, and spill past boundaries the way blackberry-brambles grow up those tenacious hills I left for you. Their gritty fruit's ripe now, but oceans still separate us, waves opaque as oatmeal, miles of fog roiling between your pillow and mine while you say your best: sometimes, she's where your compass points, despite you, though a meal with me, or talk, is good . . . Where our starfire translated depths, low fog won't let you steer by sight. The needle fingers one desire, and no other direction can compel. If no other direction can compel me upward from the dark-before-the-dawn descending spiral, I drop like a stone flung into some scummed-over stagnant well. The same momentum with which once we fell across each other's skies, meteors drawn by lodestones taproots clutched in unmapped ground propels me toward some amphibious hell where kissing's finished, and I tell, tell, tell reasons as thick and sticky as frogspawn: had I done this, that wouldn't have come undone. The wolf of wolf's hour cried at once too often picks out enfeebled stragglers by the smell of pond scum drying on them in the sun. I miss you more than when I was in France and thought I'd soon be done with missing you. I miss what we'd have made past making do, haft meshing weft as autumn days advance, transliterating variegated strands of silk, hemp, ribbon, flax, into some new texture. I missed out on misconstrued misgivings; did I miss my cue; boat? Chanc- es are, the answer's missing too. ~ Coda ~ Maybe it was jet lag, maybe not, but I was smoking in the kitchen: six, barely, still dark: beyond the panes, a mix of summer storm and autumn wind. Here's a poem about the season of Summer which is very close upon us am very excited I have alot of fun things planned to do for this summer like go to the beach. ~ A Time Of Freedom ~ Morning's soft air, touching everything with such care, Caresses a young face, in a quiet secluded place. Smile planted strong, heart beating on. Only on thing is on her mind, and that, is summer time. A joy reckless and wild, that's been in the heart of every child, now set within her, for there is no cure. Her spirit set free, soars higher than the trees. The books that weighed her down, now thrown on the ground. The rivers cleansed from winter, are now heated for splendor. The happiness of knowing, no bedtimes are set, and so schedules to be met. The sun now beating within her veins washes away all her pains. Then without a sound, the sun starts to sink down. so she heads inside, satisfied, until the next time. But her spirit is just too wild and decides to wait awhile, So it stays outside and watches the sun, waiting for what is to come. The birds fall asleep the peepers start to peep, And slowly the sunbeams caressing the mountains, Turn them into splendorous fountains.
