I been thinking about this issue and come to this conclusion: Wolfenstein should in fact get the credit for the popularity of the FPS because I believe, and this is just an opinion, that wolfenstein itself had obtained enough popularity to jump start the FPS genre no matter what game came out next using the newer tek to create a better FPS exp. DOOM just happened to be that game. So give it the credit if u want but I believe my conclusion to be sound. Now i'm frekkin done talkin bout old fps games.

xfighter1138 : i wasn't saying I wish doom was never made so there wouldn't be any success. I'm saying I wish it wasn't made so I could see how the genre would have turned out without it. I think it would have been better. Its just an opinion I know most of you love those games.

I friggin love tekken 6 play almost every day on the 360 love hoawrang, up for challenges message me at fightorace on Xbox live, yea I know but remembering so many logon names is hard. Also love playing Dirt the first one, want to get part two ever since it came out. Also some street fighter IV and Forza 3. On the PC I play the classics SFII, mortal kombat II, donkey kong country, supermario world, pilotwing 64, waverace 64, freakin got like 900 roms play lots of em.

avc2100 : I could tell u how to get to world -1 takes some luck but not too hard, also does anyone know if u can beat that level i have noticed that if u take different routes over an under the water obstacles u can make progress whereas u don't start in the same area when u die. My favorite glitch is in FFI the second level corneria or something if u go all the way right and up u get to fight enemies from way later and get real badass and fly through the game quickstyle.

chrisd636 : I'm open to some xbox 360 suggestions u might have. Also when I played the game at 11 years old I wasn't taking the game as racist, Patriotic though yes, what i knew was I was killin some some WWII peoples we were fighting for good reason, they were racist and exterminating that race.

JigSaw : One problem with that, influence in current games. It's not so much the credit i'm worried about as the influence that doom has had on the genre, it's made it harder for me to find fps games i like.

Back in the days before pentium there was a thing called a 486mhz computer with windows 3.1 on it that we had in our house. I ran into a shareware disk at radioshack called wolfenstein 3D, got addicted bought the game and played for hours. A year later or so a game called DOOM came out, It was basically the same game but instead of hunting nazi's you were after aliens with a slightly darker more gory atmosphere, I didn't and don't like any of the doom games and it drives me crazy that people give more credit to doom than wolfenstein 3d for the popularity of FPS games. Wolfenstein was first, so I give that game the credit. How do u feel?

bignatealpha : yes it would be neat and I believe many others would agree but the questions I think don't need to be about support from 3rd party's, they should be more focused on would people buy it. Generally console generations last 5 years i think we are in year 6 of this generation and while most believe in a 10 year cycle this time business can be defined by bold moves such as starting the next generation and not waiting for the big boys to tell you when its time. U did have a good point about their original ips though not a lot of good ones but I believe sega has enough money and clout within the video game business to develop new ips and 3rd party relations, sadly while it would by kinda cool (I would buy it) I don't think it would be smart judging by the outing of their last two systems. Maybe some better ads? or generate hype better or something cuz the dreamcast was competing against much inferior systems at the time at couldn't get a foothold, whats up with that?

Davideo7 : I think this could be a fake but If I were in control of sega i'd try it cuz it sounds like they are using the other console runs as an experiment then trying to take the best elements from all of them to make an even better one. If its real it would be tight.
