The Wonder Years was also a great show that I think is grossly underrated. I think one of the reasons why The Wonder Years hasn’t gotten the same kind of credit as other shows is because there were so many of really great shows in the 80s.


It defiantly deserves more credit than some shows of the 90s that’s for sure. As I said with a few exceptions I’m not a big reality TV fan and I think the concept of reality television has pretty much gone as far as it can and it would be nice to see sitcoms get more of a push than they do currently.


I realize that my opinion may not be the popular view of many but what can I say? I’m an old school guy and really appreciate the kind of good television that sitcoms can deliver.

I think President Obama has done the best he can do with what he was given to work with… I know a lot of people criticize him for many reasons but the fact his he inherited a mess and it isn’t the kind of mess that one can clean quickly.


It doesn’t help matters that the two parties are constantly at each other and thus people act more often than not based on their political affiliation and not what is best. There is no way that any significant progress can be made that way no matter how well meaning someone might be. President Obama has a way to go before he can be fairly judged but I think he has done a decent job under the circumstances that were in front of him when he took office.

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill

I live in Florida so the oil spill has been every day news here since it happened. What bothers me about this whole thing is the affect that the spill is having on the economy down here even though we are not directly affected by the spill right now.


It also bothers me that some are choosing to criticize the president for the struggle of trying to resolve the problem instead of coming together as one with a united front to get the leak stopped and the clean up afterwards done.


It is hurricane season so I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I hope that they get it resolved soon incase god forbid a storm comes that might impact things. I would like to see some sort of restrictions on off shore drilling though after all of this.


There has to be some semblance of accountability with the oil companies especially when it appears as if they are the ones that are in a position to make money via several avenues and the small businesses and people that rely on the gulf to make a living are the ones that are suffering.

heilnaraku : Full House was funny but the thing about that show wasn’t so much the characters as much as it was that they tried to build episodes around lessons for kids which is something that today’s TV lacks severely. Family Matters had the same type of life lessons in it’s show but they relied a lot on slapstick comedy with Urkel’s character and although it worked and although it was definitely hilarious and cleaver how they would work the slapstick humor in it did get repetitive at times.

I have also had a similar experience with the N64 games though I use my keyboard... I never owned an N64 console and so I am not familiar with the configuration does anyone have any suggestions?

I remember a sitcom on Fox back in the 90s that went with a live audience but I don't think it lasted long. I don't really have a preference as to whether a sitcom is taped or live I just wish there were more of them on television currently. Some of the reality shows aren’t too bad but I just think that sitcoms are more entertaining than most reality shows.
I assume that the reason most sitcoms are taped is because of the potential for outtakes and if you’ve seen some of the sitcoms that have been released on DVD some are hilarious…

I think both Family Matters and Full House are classics but there were so many sitcoms in the 80s that were just as good if not better Perfect Strangers and Cheers along with Family Matters and Full House would be at the top of my list. The Shining hands down is my favorite horror flick but I am a big Jack Nicholson fan so I am biased in regard to that movie. I also loved Misery and Psycho. If I had to pick more than three I would say the original Friday the 13th and the original Nightmare on Elm Street would make my top five. I am not much on remakes in any genre so I haven’t checked out any of the recent Halloween remakes, are they worth buying the DVD’s?
