I think Jake's disclaimer is probably the best one to use.

Since I'd rather not have to reupload all of those documents again, would you mind adding that disclaimer to the bottom of the petitions before you use them (if you plan to use them). Though I'd rather us make an original logo, I suppose it is true that finding an artist capable of doing it might take some time. If you feel that so long as we have a disclaimer, it won't be a legal problem, then I am quite ready to see our petition finally be released.

Erm... enlarged until they touch eachother? I'm not so sure about that idea. I actually just barely got that image in to the document (it was made a little smaller than the original, actually). So if I were to do as you said, the images would be really squished together... and look kind of awkward. Even if I made them bigger, Word would resize them to something not much larger than what you see there anyway. I admit that it wouldn't be bad if they were a bit larger, but getting the precise size to fit in that formation and not be resized due to Word would be somewhat difficult. I've printed out the document, and I can quite clearly see each character. As such, I don't believe there is much need to worry about making them larger anyway.

...As for Robo's petition... why the sudden change of heart? Your original request was to change him solely in the stand-alone petition. Of course, since I was working on the all-in-one petition at that time as well, I thought it would be beneficial to let him be larger there too. Unlike all of the other pictures, Robo's picture has A LOT of empty space. All I did was focus more on the part with Robo. I mean, unless the update makes it look worse than the original, I see no need to mess around with what isn't broken, if ya know what I mean.

As for the whole "copyright infringement" aspect, I agree with Stoney... to an extent. While I won't necessarily count out the idea of using the current logo... I can see where it may cause problems for us. As such, I would recommend that we change it. The least we can do, would be put up that disclaimer. Quite frankly, since we are even using unofficial fan work, it might be a good idea to do that too. I'm not entirely sure as to how to make such a disclaimer though. Anyway, if we are to get a new logo... we need to find it soon. We've been stalling a little for a while now, so I personally would like to have the website and petition ready ASAP so that the signing can finally begin.

So you like the petitions as they are currently? It might be a wise choice to put a small disclaimer on the bottom basically claiming that the game "Chrono Trigger" and all of the characters or artwork depicted in the game are liscensed to S-E.

Of course, this is just a suggestion. I like the current logo too, but if it could bring problems... it would be wise to choose another one before we actually send out the petitions. Know what I mean?

Anyway, I'm very much looking foward to what is coming. Once we have everything set up, I shall try and promote this on various forums. With any luck, we'll gain enough popularity to be accepted on Slashdot, and then possibly other gaming sites.

New logo? Hmmmm... I hate to say it, but I really can't help there. I would gladly incorporate another one though if I am given it. The image only needs to be around the same size. This could be a problem though. Any of us have connections to an artist? To make this banner without using copywrited material, would mean to make it completely originally. Only a good artist would be able to pull that off. To make this simple for the artist, can't we just request a DRAWN version of the current logo? That way it isn't using S-E's original material, AND gives the artist an idea to work with. Any ideas on how we can accomplish this as fast as possible?

Comments on the "All in One": Hmmmm... I see. Ok... so I need to make them a little larger, eh? A border? Hmmmm... well I guess I can see what you mean. I'll see if I can do anything about it.


Single-character comments: Ok... so Marle's petition looks fine? Well at least that much is good. With Robo, I took was a little surprised by his picture. He is drawn smaller, and just has empty space surrounding him, to make the image around the size as the others. I'll see if I can remove that, and enlarge just him. No need to remove the kids, or so I think... anyway. Too bad you can't see the others. Guess I'll have to wait for the comments on those ones.

To fix the so called... "box problem", I removed the lined border that surrounded many of the images. This way it doesn't exactly look like the images are enclosed in a... box. Adding in shading around each individual image would be a PAIN. Knowing myself, I'd probably screw up each individual image in the process. Hopefully the boxiness isn't too bad now. Oh, almost forgot to mention. The pictures are enlarged. Details on them are much more noticeable and clear. They fit nicely on the page, and I think this size works pretty well for the "all in one" petition.

I hope to finish the version with all seven characters some time today. Quite frankly, it might be a little difficult considering each image will become less-detailed as I shrink it. You are right, this pebble is pretty insignificant. Look at it this way. While what were are writing MAY be legally unsound in Japan, it will be in America. Our group is contacting S-E of America, which (to my knowledge) should be under all U.S. laws. After recieving our petition, S-E of America is to send this petition in to S-E of Japan after looking it over themselves. Now since S-E of America is under U.S. law, and they approved of it before sending it out to S-E of Japan, then S-E of Japan would HAVE to accept the petition. Afterall, if they didn't, S-E of Japan would be going against S-E of America's word; 'tis never a good thing for a business to go against itself.

As for the whole translation deal, I'm not against it. The problem is, I and noone I know of, happen to be fluent in Japanese. We would have to go on another wild search for this person. It would be pretty good to have a version translated though, for when it would be sent to S-E of Japan.

As for the ENGLISH version of the petition, I guess the time when I should be most free to work on it would be the weekend. Expect a few or all of them to be done over the weekend.

Just thought I'd make a QUICK post describing what is taking so long. Basically, my school is CRAZY with giving homework during the beginning of the year. I've been rampantly writing documents both engineering and English-related... all the while juggling American Government, Physics, Calculus, and Psychology. Crazy stuff. The only time I have to myself is... well... if I get lucky and have only a little homework over the weekend.

I WILL get this petition out of everyone else is too busy to do it, but you MIGHT have to wait until the next weekend before I can put the petitions together. Every second passing is yet another I don't get towards sleep. Ack!!! 138 seconds have passed! NOOOO!!!!

I had a feeling some people would complain about Magus and Marle. Truth is, Magus ISN'T blue there. He is actually a pretty dark purple. When I lightened things up a bit though, the purple started to look a little more bluish. Only the more "reddish" purples didn't look blue when I lightened them... and they just didn't look right for Magus. As for Marle, that was the kind of blue for her I was thinking of all along. Turned out pretty nice I guess.

As for the whole size issue, that was actually something CuteLucca must have done herself. Magus is the only differently sized character there, to my knowledge. That then raises the question... shrink Magus or enlarge everyone else?

I'll have to work on the petition some time later though. Apparantely my old computer, for some bizarre reason, is not working correctly for my sister. She goes to college, so she REALLY needs a PC in her dorm. While normally able to connect to the internet, the college requires you to run some sort of program while trying to connect to the network. For some reason this doesn't work. Some techs she went to basically said "some files are corrupt" and recommended her to reinstall Windows XP. For all intensive purposes, I as an Engineer, do not see how this could be the problem. I think they just threw out some big words to confuse her, since they themselves didn't know why it didn't work. *sigh...* And now I have to figure it out... though I really think it is just the school software itself causing the problem. Wait... how did I get in to this?

About those pictures...

- Robo's picture doesn't seem to have much of any color added to it.
- All of the pictures might be a little too dark; you might need to lighten them up. Alot.
- This is just my opinion, but I think the purplish hue chosen for Magus is too light. It seems sort of... pinkish.


Otherwise the coloring is good, but I think a few tweaks will make it better. Afterall, if it is too dark... you won't be able to easily read the text. And... while not far off; the purple hue for Magus seems a little too pink for the great Shadow magic-user. Just trying to help.

Just thought I would mention this. I got photoshop back. I am pretty sure Jake-A-Roonie is probably just about done by now with the petition(s), but if any other help is needed... I might be able to help over the weekend. I am in school at the moment, and while I have some homework, I should have a little time left to play around with some images.

...On other news, how is everybody handeling themselves with the return of the dreaded "school"? This year for me will be both harder and easier on various aspects. Afterall, while my Engineering class is no longer teaching new material... I STILL have that Senior Project... which shall be a nightmare. In addition, I have some of my favorite teachers this year. The problem is, they are teaching the hardest courses the school has to offer. *sigh...* Good things can not come without their horrific consequences.

Actually, I can't use my old computer anymore. It now belongs to my sister, who isn't exactly living in the same general area as myself. As such, it is impossible to get access to photoshop. Not the greatest position to find myself in. Doing ANYTHING on photoshop on my old PC took quite some time ('twas very laggy), though I know for a fact it would be totally fast with this new computer. I can't do anything until I get photoshop off of one of my friends.

...Hmmmm... I don't really know how I should put this...

I suppose when one of you mentioned something concerning problems reinstalling my old software on the new computer; you were pretty accurate. I can't get my version of Photoshop to work on the new computer (I just copied the Program File on to a disk, which often works.) Seemingly, the programmers put a smart function in... which in a basic sense, checks what computer it is on in comparison to the last one it started on. Obviously, since the new one isn't my old one... the program doesn't work. Unfortunately, I lost the install disk quite some time ago... I think someone may have accidentally thrown it out. I might be able to get a copy off of a friend of mine, but that won't be possible until school starts... which would be the seventh. Not good, obviously. Very ironic that now that I have a nice MODERN computer capable of using photoshop effectively, it won't work for me. *sigh...* Well, there's nothing I can do about it. Sorry guys, it seems someone might want to consider making that preliminary version of the petition for me; the only other choice is to wait... and I believe we are on some sort of deadline, correct?

Horribly sorry to hear of your loss Props. I hadn't known you were going to college in that area. As for the damage of the general area, I have a slight look in to the nightmare through my Uncle, who lives there. Not only is there mayhem due to the storm itself, but also due to people commiting crimes during the time of "lawlessness". It is not too far off from an anarchy down there, and I hear it is spreading. Any building intact that may have things of worth in it is being looted. This catastrophe is not only effecting your area, but also the entire nation (though obviously, in a much lesser sense). Prices for just about everything (especially gasoline) are flying sky high. People are becoming quite agitated due to this... including my parents. All I can say right now is, "Thank God I don't have a car." Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and am quite thankful you came out of that monster alright.


Anyway... this is my first post on my new computer. I JUST finished setting it up (it is 3:17 A.M.). Of course, I mean the preliminary set up, as in... none of my old files are installed just yet. It took me the entire day to burn all of my important files, though that was mostly because my older computer moved SO slowly. This computer is pretty much better in EVERY way, so it should be a little faster getting things on it than it was to get things off the old one. I probably won't be ready to do any work for a little while though, so don't expect me to be throwing out the new version of the petition for a little while.

That logo does look quite nice, but I suppose it might be a problem. We need a good replacement around that same size though, if we plan to replace it; that is. Until I get something to replace it with, it'll just have to remain like that.

Anyway, I should probably wait until tommorow to do that. With the new computer coming its going to be chaos for a little while getting everything reinstalled, but with any luck... I should be able to at least get started on your recommended designs.

Hmmm... so let me think a moment. You want me to make multiple versions; a few with seperate pictures of a specific character... and one with all of the characters in shrunken images? Not impossible, I guess. I can work better on it once I get the new computer (my current one sucks... and loading photoshop takes forever), which should be tommorow. I'll try my best to have something that looks relatively pleasing to the eye. You might have to wait a few days for me to get everything together though; what with the current computer I have (with all the data on it) being given to someone else.

Hmmm... so I suppose you were able to see my "prototype" petition then, Stoney? Didn't like it, eh? *sigh...* Well I suppose the first try wouldn't be perfect.

Now that I look it over, your color choice seems to make more sense. My only problem was with Marle and Magus. Purple and Blue aren't all that different... especially when the image is really faded out.

As for the whole... "headcut" idea... I suppose I can give it a try. I have a bad feeling about it though. I don't think it'll look too good in the end; especially with my limited photoshop experience...

Hmmmm... very well. It is decided then. It shall be on one page. There shall be different versions of the petition for each character, using the artwork faded in the background.

I shall try and make one. I have photoshop, though I am not exactly an expert with it. I'll see what I can come up with. I think I'll use the picture Brownman provided as our "logo" for now, as nothing else as of yet has been provided. I should have something to show later today, unless something stops me from doing it.

Here is that picture of Magus from earlier. I faded it out a bit, and gave it a slightly bluish hue (that is the color usually associated with Magus.) Anyway, is this light enough? Also... for the hue (if you want it) I would like to know what colors you recommend for each character.

Ok... so far I have a basic design, I don't want to show it until I put the picture in the background. Anyway... I got the banner in (it looks really good, actually), and have edited it just a little to allow for twenty signatures. I am ready to insert the picture in to the background of the document. While I have seen it done before, I've never done it myself... so this might take quite a while of tinkering around with Microsoft Word... *sigh...*

CT Petition prototype
That is my prototype of the petition thus far. I wanted to stretch the image out to cover the entire petition, but I couldn't get the transparency effect with the banner to work correctly... thus it looked odd. Thus I just have it centered over the page. What do you think? Any suggestions?
